  1. Instead of the pilot? As for show longevity, I guess it depends on how things play out. Right now, I don't see an open-ended path for the show, but we shall see.
  2. It's an actual series, so I hear. It must have an intended story arc though, with a certain number of episodes/seasons planned. I can't see it being open-ended and just continuing on.
  3. You must live a charmed life! Did the pilot explain to you how they are trained to properly crash the helicopters, or was this prior to that training being required?
  4. I don't really rememeber any music in the show. I know it's there, but I can't say it was either memorable or effective.
  5. I like how it's setting up polarisations (no pun intended regarding the bear). The redneck and the Iraqi and the fellow who had a friend fight in the Gulf war against the armies the Iraqi was part of, and the older fellow with the backgammon game telling the black kid about two sides, light and dark. There's some very neat stuff being threaded together in this show, and I'm curious how it's going to play out. I have a number of vaguely-defined theories of what could be going on, but it could be anything. There's a definite Forbidden Planet vibe to this, with the "id monster" from that film (also widely believed to be an interpretation of Shakespeare's The Tempest - which opens up a whole other area of potenial theories for the show). We shall see.
  6. I fully believe there are aliens out there, it's preposterous to think otherwise. But whether they've been to earth, have abducted people, have left strange markings and so on, I'm not so sure. I'd like to believe that some of what is reported as alien encounters is real, but there is not the proof to substantiate any of it.
  7. Don't feel so bad. I could swear that at one point there was a feature in the Controls panel to select that made all PMs automatically be stored in the Sent folder. TG would be able to confirm or deny that though, since he does all the board features stuff.
  8. Are you checking the "Add a copy of this message to my sent items folder" box?
  9. I'd have to say that my favourite "fame" encounter, even moreso than meeting cEvin Key (of Skinny Puppy) or Raymond Watts (of KMFDM/Pig) would be meeting Douglas Adams. He even signed my copy of Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency. That was cool.
  10. I ran into David Bowie at the Art Gallery Of Ontario a few years ago. I was there for the Edvard Munch exhibit, and afterwards encountered Bowie in the Moore sculpture exhibit. He's not a human, no human glows like he did. I've met many band members in the industrial music realm, and a ton of Canadian stage/television actors. Nothing earth shattering though.

  12. And so the drama concludes. Until next time.....
  13. I read an interview recently with Lucas, and he was asked about the future of the SW franschise, and he mentioned television (which he has on many recent occasions), only he also mentioned animation. I'd be all for a SW TV series, but not as a cartoon. If SW could be carried into television in the same manner as Star Trek, then great, but a cartoon would not be good.
  14. It airs on Wednesdays and I'll watch it then. I can't be bothered to download tv shows, unless I miss an episode.
  15. It's distressing that this sort of thing is deemed suitable for DVD release while the original SW films are not.
  16. There's a good review on The Digital Bits. www.digitalbits.com
  17. Choyrt and his other half are alive and well. They stayed at the resort through the storm.
  18. As Charles Dexter Ward once said, "do not call up what you cannot put down!". I think I'll just close this thread to prevent it coming back. And after POTC's post, I'm convinced locking is the best course of action....
  19. I know it's by J.J. Abrams. I've never watched Alias because I cannot stand Jennifer Garner. What's the 24 reference for? I don't watch that show, either...
  20. I really liked it. It reminds me of a story by Algernon Blackwood entitled "The Willows". In that story, two men are in an isolated area in Hungary, on the Danube river, which is forested by willow trees. The men are beset by strange invisible forces, something like great crashing or stomping winds, and odd things happen. It's incredibly tense and atmospheric, and one of my favourite short stories. Anyways. I'll be watching the show for as long as it's on.
  21. What a horrible, horrible image that brings to mind!
  22. He's an incredible painter and I love his work. The colours, textures, composition, style.. All fantastic. I'd be happy to have Justin do the portraits and other art for all the RPGs I play.
  23. Well, he did write and produce them. He had more a hand in making them than the directors did, really.
  24. I think a Star Wars television series would be interesting. Lucas has said that he'd give the reins over to other people, so that could really breathe new life into the franchise. I'd watch it for at least a season to give it a chance. If it's good, it'll be cancelled and if it's crap, it'll stay on, so either I'll get a good short-run show or something I don't need to watch; either way the committment is small.
