Project Eternity Composer: In-house or External
I love this thread, a lot of good music here. Maybe I can share some of my favourite pieces as well? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-2ZpM1NfbI&feature=share&list=PLD526B6643FB4B4B4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ew13yp8dkzU&feature=share&list=PLD526B6643FB4B4B4

How about some luv for the iPad and tablets?
I've heard it isn't too difficult to port a PC game to tablets. So, why not? But it definitely shouldn't affect development of a PC version. Maybe they could do it later, after Eternity will be released.

It's a Kind of Magic
Lysen replied to The Dark One Avoozl's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)If a mage have Open spell, I'll kill him/her with my lockpicks. It means that playing a thief class will be obsolete - why will you need a thief at all if you can open locks, detect traps or even steal with a mage? On a second thought, it depends on what kind of magic system they will use. If it is memorization, for example, it can't be that bad because you will need to memorize a lot of Open or Detect spells. I'm not against non-combat magic, but it should be more balanced.

How important is for you that the gameworld is both interactive and animated?
The Temple of Elemental Evil was perhaps the most beautiful isometric game that I have played. Obsidian didn't reveal what engine they will be using, but I am sure that Project Eternity will look great. Obviously, it will be based on the modern technology. Just don't go for the cartoonish look like Wasteland 2 Torchlight.

PC starting location speculation: Hill's Edge, Baelreach or Twin Elms
I also like the idea that it may depend on your race/class. For example, you are a thief, you are robbing an ancient tomb and accidentally trigger that "supernatural event".

Races - Don't stick to Tolkien
I am not sure that traditional "Tolkien" races are that overused. You can not play as a goblin or troll for example. I'd love to. Imagine the possibilities of role-playing a troll.

Cant (lingo, jargon...)
I think it will be implemented, judging by Sawyer's background and what he said about different cultures and languages in PE. Also, "chillax". Me, I definitely want it, because it adds to the immersion.

I know this is going to sound weird, but I want full clothing control.
That would be most excellent. I seem to recall playing a game where a companion did something like that, but I can't recall the game offhand... I remember something like that in Planescape: Torment. If you give Grace a ring, for example, she will ask: "How sweet, are we engaged?" And Dakkon won't be very happy, if you try to undress him...

Would you like to see undead in Eternity?
I wouldn't mind to see some undead in the game, if they are done right (like in PST, for example). But please, no zombies... I just can't stand them anymore, they are in every damn game!

Factions in Project Eternity
I don't care if it is generic, I want to join the thieves guild! Or some kind of equivalent. There was a thieves guild (!) even in Fallout 1.

XP Sharing
Voted for the first option. Baldur's Gate style sounds hardcore, but in fact it was more like a chore. I think it was the system used in all IE games, no? Don't remember, to be honest.

Classes
The main classes will probably be quite generic, i.e. fighter, mage, thief plus cleric, bard and... druid? Then they will add some interesting twists to them like they did with races. Maybe it will be kits, like in Baldur's Gate 2. Maybe you will be able to change your class like in Planescape: Torment (I would love to).

Update #3: Game Basics - Your Party, Your Characters, and Races
Bilbo was teh Chosen One, he couldn't fail.

Do people want this game to be as "Hardcore" as 90's RPGs?
The more hardcore, the better. And please include something like Heart of Fury mode.

Stretch goals
Stretch goals are fine, the only bad thing about them is that they don't actually pick up interest in the project.

FORMATIONS - Since Obsidian like them so much, why not make them deeper?
Formations were mostly useless in Infinity Engine games. Remember the usual thing, when you carefully placed all of your characters before a difficult battle, then the enemy starts conversation with you and after it ends, your party is suddenly in complete disarray and under heavy fire? I hope too that Obsidian will put more effort into party formations and try to make them really useful.

Thievery
This is my very first thread at Obsidian forums, yay! I am so excited about Project Eternity, so please forgive my enthusiasm. There is one thing though that worries me a bit. In the glorious old Infinity games like Baldur's Gate and Planescape: Torment, thievery were handled pretty badly. Of course, you could play as a thief and even run a thieves guild, it was awesome. But when you actually play a thief, you mostly use your skills to disarm traps or sometimes for ambushes and reconnaissance. This is cool, but you actually were role-playing a military scout, not a thief. There wasn't much to STEAL. No big houses stuffed with angry guards and unfathomable riches, no arrogant nobles with full pockets, no merchant ships in the port that you could rob in the dead of night... Well, Baldur's Gate 2 had some of those, and Arcanum too, but there were hardly anything like that in PST or Icewind Dale. On the other hand, recently I have played a great German RPG called Drakensang 2 and it handled thievery pretty well, for example, it had some cool quests that you have to complete to become a member of the local thieves guild. I would be very happy if Project Eternity have some stuff like that: a thieves underground, specific quests like stealing a sacred artefact from a well-protected fortress instead of fighting your way in, interesting places in the cities to rob etc.
-
What type of "player house" would you like?
Voted for the ship, just for the laughs. I am sure it will not be implemented, though it is a cool idea itself to have a personal ship, like in Arcanum. If there is a pirate class in Eternity, it would make sense.

Stretch Goal - hire Justin Sweet to make portraits.
I am not trolling, my avatar actually reminds me of a character I once made in Icewind Dale 2. And I am not saying that Sweet is bad artist or something, I just don't think his art is that important/cool.

The Good and Bad of Infinity Engine
The only thing a really disliked about the Infinity Engine games was AD&D rules. They felt very restricting and didn't make much sense, that's why I am a big PS:T fan.
