Swedish newspapers are reporting today that the captain is trying to leave the sinking ship. I'm talking about Sundin and the Leafs. According to Aftonbladet, Sundin is almost halfway out the door and on the way to either Calgary or Vancouver, because he's sick and tired of having to play with players like Nik Antropov and Alexei Ponikarovsky on his wings. I wish Ferguson/Quinn could get him some good wingers.. Not that it would matter much, Sundin doesn't seem to be a perfect fit for the new NHL. He's not dominating games anymore. Still, it isn't good for any team to lose their captain in the middle of the season. Edit: Phew! http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/sto...BNStory/Sports/ http://www.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/ContentSe...d=1138143048506 Swedish newspapers suck.

1. Icewind Dale: I used this to learn the combat of the IE games, because frankly, I think it sucks bigtime. And that's it.. I tried playing through Planescape: Torment because it's supposed to be "teh bestest cRPG evah!!1" but it's not. It's a very one-dimensional affair, where you're forced to like the main character and the story to be able to enjoy the game, because that's all there is to it. I have Baldur's Gate installed, but after playing Icewind Dale (with its smooth interface and good graphics) I'm having problems getting immersed in the game. I once tried Baldur's Gate 2 (I still have it on the shelf) but the beginning of the game made me feel like I was jumping into the middle of a story that I didn't understand so I never made it out of that laboratory before I lost interest. Icewind Dale 2 started out great but it lost me early on too as I felt way too restricted and controlled to have fun. All IE games have a strange effect on me: whenever I play them it's like I am expecting something to happen that will get the game going. I'm like, "Oh, it must be after this map when the game starts to become good", but then I play and play and the game ends and I feel strangely unfulfilled. The weirdest part is that I don't know what the hell I am expecting to happen or why the IE games are so unfulfilling to me. I wish I knew.

It's sad when you're actually glad your team didn't play tonite.. go.. Leafs.. yeah..

Well.. When I was like.. 15 years old I bought this game with a blonde, superhot, scantily clad woman on the front cover. The game turned out to be less than good, but boy, did I love that covergirl! Nowadays, even her boobs have an eighties look about them..

In Europe Ovechkin was much more highly regarded than Crosby before their NHL debut. In fact, I had never heard about Crosby until about a few months before the draft lottery! Ovechkin has played in several international tournaments and his insane intensity kind of created the hype around him by itself. When you see a kid of 18 years of age turn the sdwedish national team into either crash test dummies (crushing hits) or traffic cones (that you just skate around in 100 mph), you kind of notice him. I still think it's a tight game for the Calder. Crosby is only 18 and he's putting up numbers far above 1 point per game. When he is 20 years old (and has more experience of playing with the big boys) he'll put up insane stats. I've seen him play and he will become an unstoppable force when he adds on a few pounds of muscle (like most men do in the age 18-20). Everyone has to remember that Ovechkin has played in the russian elite league before making his NHL debut. The russian elite league is extremely good (they probably have the best coaches and hockey systems in the world), they only lack the resources to keep the best players playing in their teams. This will change in a few years as Russia will become a threat to the NHL. Anyhow, he already has the experience to play against and with the best, which is a big reason as to why he's been such a success already. I wish Lundquist would be in the race for the Calder, but unless he wins like.. 35-40 games, I don't see that happening. I have not seen Phaneuf play.

I have a feeling that Josh's writing style would have been perfect for Lionheart.. I'll crawl back under my rock now.

Crashgirl, wear a helmet for your next crash because your posts aren't making any sense. alan, you've made your point and "won" the mudslinging already, now shoo! Scram! Don't ruin this thread, it has potential to become something interesting. It's always fun to hear what people are annoyed about in their (so far mostly favourite) games!

The "Montage by Covenant" (under showcase) was pretty neat. I've seen someone use that song for a MMA fight before (syncing the BOOM-lyrics with the heaviest kicks and blows) but it fit the Ovechkin hits pretty good too.

Well, Gothic (and subsequently Gothic 2) were designed as "keyboard only" games. Late in the development cycle the crazy germans realized that most PC's had something connected to them that's called a mouse. Panicking they tried to incorporate a bit of mouse control in the game, but alas, it was too late. That's why Gothic & Gothic 2 suffers from some really awkward controls (although they're highly modifiable, which makes them ok after a bit of tinkering). But who the hell decides to do a "keyboard only" game in the year 2001?! Boggles the mind.

I should join: http://www.ovechkinfans.com/ Does Crosby have a fansite yet?

Icewind Dale is the only IE game I've played and enjoyed from beginning to end. And I don't consider myself to be a hack'n'slash fanatic (I dislike Diablo & clones of all my heart) but something about that game grabbed me and didn't let go until it was over (way too soon for my taste). Maybe the snow? ) Icewind Dale 2 had that same feeling in the first few maps, but somewhere along the way my interest in the game waned and I never finished it. Not sure why and I've been thinking about giving it another shot.

I still have an original Gameboy and my trusty old Commodore 128. Unfortunately, the C128 has a broken joystick port, but other than that it's fully functional.

We should form a support group. Wanna hold hands?

I've played through Wasteland a few times, but I can remember every single password and code in the game by now so it's not much fun anymore. One advantage of all that knowledge is that it is now possible for me to powerlevel up to like level 20 (or something) in less than an hour..

I like Gothic/Gothic 2's solution the most: you actually run out of monsters to kill. The XP pool is finite.

I hate the stupid ****ing divisional groups. Why the hell does Toronto have to face Ottawa 8 ****ing times?! WE LOST TO THEM 5 TIMES ALREADY! ENOUGH! The last three games the Leafs were outscored 23-2. Only three more games to play then. We now have 5 losses in a row and we're facing Ottawa again on Monday. Stupid ****ing NHL and their unfair playing schedules.

Bloodlines had one of the biggest bugs in gaming history (the game stopping one), but it sure as hell didn't have the most bugs or anywhere even close to the most bugs found in a game.

Reading Rhomal's replies is kind of like watching the Black Knight get his arms and legs chopped off in Monty Python and the Holy Grail. "Look, you stupid Bastard. You've got no arms left." "Yes I have." "Look!" "It's just a flesh wound."

Yeah, play the release version of Dungeon Lords to find out what a real beta is.
-
People really should try the original Daggerfall (or even Arena!) before talking about buggy games. If you haven't experienced a Bethesda product, you can't say anything about bugs!

Good post, and I agree with 99% of it (I feel I will like Oblivion, almost no matter what), but who the hell is Wynne?
