  1. Nope, I want to make sure the game is in such a state that the Piranha Bytes team feel it is as it was intended to be before I play it. I have no problems buying it early to support the game developers whose work I enjoy, but I do have problems being forced into the role as a beta-tester against my will. Besides, Bully, Neverwinter Nights 2 and Final Fantasy XII (a longshot) are on their way, so it's not like I won't have anything else to play while waiting for the (many) patches.
  2. Gothic 3 on Gamerankings.com: 81% average so far. http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/920920.asp I have a sneaking suspicion that this average will fall once the big ones (Gamespot, IGN, 1up and Gamespy) gets their hands on it.
  3. Yeah, my Cooltek has four 12v rails (cables). Its cables are also modular, but if I connect ALL the cables to the PSU at the same time, it looks like a rastafari. Teh cables are everywhere!! Luckily for me, it also has separate PCI-E cables. Oh, and my motherboard has an extra 4-pin molex connector installed next to the PCI-E ports that you can supply additional power through, if need be. Great feature!
  4. http://translate.google.com/translate?u=ht...n&hl=en&ie=UTF8 There's a german interview with one of the key personnel in Piranha Bytes out on the 'net. I tried to translate it using Google's translation service, but.. GEEZ! Is that the best all this wonderful technology around us can produce?! Translation is one area where a true AI could really work wonders. Something that could see a pattern and put things into context. Gaah! At least it's funny: "If a play is cool, one can live evenly also with nose" ) Anyhow, the next patch is due out in less than 5-6 weeks. A long wait, considering the state the game is in. I haven't played it yet myself, but the official forums are storming over the savegame crashes and corrupted savefiles.
  5. If your PSU is a good, high-quality one (meaning that it will actually produce those 460W at stable levels when needed), you should theoretically be ok. But reality has a way of interfering with theory sometimes. You'll know when you get the 8800.

No, we had to spend every dime we had on.. Hal Gill.
  7. That depends on your PSU. Some PSU's have extremely powerful 12v rails and can take the stress of having two GPU's sucking power from it (as that's what I assume you're going for, you graphics whore ) ). But to be on the safe side: if you have a "free" 12v rail, just convert that to one of the PCI-E connectors. My PSU has four individual 12v rails. Or something like that. I don't remember! It was special somehow at least
  8. Do you believe that? I always figured it was Microsoft's lame excuse to get people to move quicker from XP to Vista. I guess we'll see a few months after DX10 is released; some hacker will probably try to port the entire API to XP.. and succeed.

What's up with Hossa? If he keeps this up, he'll end up scoring like 90 goals this season ) WHY CAN'T THE LEAFS SCORE 5-ON-5??

I'm sure they can afford it, monetary wise. But I was actually talking about the sportsman side of things: it's difficult to get good people to stay on a losing team. I suspect Sundin would retire after this season if they don't make the playoffs. Of course, he might retire even if they do make it, but chances are he'll be fed up with his poor wingers and shoddy defense if they miss it again.
  11. What?? Why?! Where did he say that? :'(
  12. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3XXOqiPYyew Ten minute long demonstration of Gears of War, courtesy of Gamespot. I must say that although the game looks really smoth, fluid and pretty, I am still a bit disappointed. Where's the fancy physics? The destructible environments? The little details (except higher resolution and more pixel pushing) that would make this somehow seem next-gen? I was mostly hoping for more.. interactive environments. Check out when they toss those weird grenades: there's not even a black spot on the ground after the blast! Odd. I DEMAND MORE.

Yeah, I can't believe how much the Leafs suck in the shootout. Of course, they're trying to score on Lundkvist.. not as easy as it sounds. I wish the Leafs could find a way to win a few. They just can't afford to miss the playoffs again.
  14. I voted for their new IP: a spiritual sequel to Fallout/Wasteland, utilizing Unreal Engine 3 technology.
  15. That's weird. The Might & Magic series gets very little love in these forums. Why is that? They're not bad games, after all (except.. uhm.. number nine.. which isn't even half as bad as people make it out to be, and it's STILL one of the worst RPG's I've played). More M&M for the people!
  16. I think this can turn out to be spectacular. It will also be the first true showing of the Unreal engine 3, so of course I'm interested. It's like half of the games coming after Gears of War are also utilizing the UE3, so it will be extremely interesting to see how it behaves in reality. Not so interested in the actual FPS though. But then again, I don't care for Killzone 2 either.. Streaming maps on the other hand... MMMM!

At least the Leafs rebounded with a comfortable away victory over Columbus Blue Jackets. Am I the only one surprised over Columbus weak start this season? It feels like they have all the pieces (except a skilled face-off man), but can't figure out the puzzle.
  18. Ok, that was the crappiest list EVER (they're all revealed now). Of the top ten games listed, ALL ten were console crap. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if the oldest game in that list is the number one game also: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. From 1998! I hate kids. Console kids. Edit: Oops. It was almost the newest game on the top ten.. Oh well, still console crap )
  19. Now this is actually not on the "Bad things" list for me. The Gothic games have always been difficult. That's kind of part of their trademark. I'm actually worried that the game will be too easy, since they (Piranha Bytes) were aiming for the North American market. We will see soon.. after the second patch has been released. That's when I'm planning on installing the game.
  20. GOTHIC RULEZZZ!!1 )
  21. I wasn't saying that it wasn't a good representative model ofa virtual world (as I am sure I'll be as engrossed in the game as the rest of you). I was saying that the graphics doesn't blow you away, as in making your jaw drop from awe. Not that I expected as much either.. It's not exactly Crysis.
  22. There's a Developer Diary #4 movie on Gametrailers.com for anyone who's interested in seeing more of Neverwinter Nights 2 in action. The graphics sure doesn't blow you away, that's for sure. But I'm equally sure the atmosphere and story will do that anyhow. http://www.gametrailers.com/gamepage.php?fs=1&id=2403 Oh, and I suspect that Tim Donley's eyebrows are trying to take over the world Obey me, underlings!!
  23. I had to check it. I have 25 and 32 respectively on my two work machines. I'll have to check the one at home later. I vaguely remember a site that had explanations on all the processes for XP. Unfortunately I have no clue what the site was called, but at least I know there is one out there.
  24. I'm somewhat interested as I've heard it's supposed to be free-form with a huge overhead map. We'll see when it arrives.. in 2008 or so in Europe.
