  1. Why are you trying to connect a CD-player to your TV?
  2. I voted "wednsday" because I wanted to make fun of Volourn, but I suspect he won't even know what's funny about it.
  3. I'm waiting for a missing cable to my PSU to come crawling back to me Actually, I've emailed the retailer, hoping they'll send me a replacement cable. Problem with these modular cable PSU's is that there aren't any spare cables to buy anywhere and mine just didn't come with all the right cables to start with. Just my luck. By the time I'm done building my Conroe system, everyone else will have moved on to Kentsfield. Kentsfield is a quad core processor, not some redneck town. Just to make things clear for the less nerdy among us.

Oh, everybody will beat me to the punch right now.. Anyhow, I just want to add a few cool facts about Sudden's hattrick: * The third goal was Sundin's 500'th goal in the NHL. Only two European born players have done it before him (Jagr and Kurri). He's the first swede ever to join the elite club. * It was his 15'th overtime goal in the NHL. That's an NHL record. Captain Clutch they call him.. * It was a shorthanded goal. He looks slow on the ice, but he really isn't. Ok, that's not a fact, but still ) What's not a real "fact" (as in something that will go down in history books), but in my eyes makes the achievement even more impressive, is that he scored those goals on Kiprusoff. I'd imagine it would be somewhat more difficult to get a hattrick on Kiprusoff than, oh let's say, Raycroft
  5. And I haven't even opened it yet! The frustrating thing is that I'm not supposed to install Gothic 3 until I've built my new rig (according to my stupid plans), and my video card has been sent to me from the hardware shop, but it didn't reach me before the weekend. So now I have to wait until Monday before getting the damn card. There's just no use installing a game like this on the 1 GB RAM machine I have now.
  6. Ok, I lied ) I am waiting for my Sapphire Radeon X1950XTX 512MB GDDR4 to arrive before I install it. I AM SUCH A WEAK, WEAK CREATURE!
  7. Yes, I've got it. It is lying right next to me on my desk as I type. But I am hesitant to install it. I have read so many negative things about the game that I'm going to wait until I hear a few "professional" reviews and more player reviews before I break the "plombering". I want to be sure I can send it back if it turns out that it sucks donkeyballs. Edit: Added a picture of the rather nice box.
  8. Uhm.. if your preference is Bioware style games than this is DEFINITELY not for you. Gothic has always been about kicking the players butt. You'll fall off cliffs and die, you'll eat poisoned food and die, you'll say the wrong thing to the wrong guy and die. I bet it's possible to shoot oneself in the foot with a bow and die. It's also (usually) a very unpolished game. There will be typos in the dialogue, there will be clipping problems in the graphics and, until at least three patches in, there will be lots of crashes to desktop and other assorted technical problems. You really have to enjoy this type of (rather unique) game-style to endure these games. So basically, nope, probably not for you. Not until the bargain bin at least. Edit: typoezzz.
  9. First english review is out (that I have found at least): http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=147535 Computer & Videogames: 8.5/10. Biggest complaint? Bugs.

Ok, at least the Leafs are scoring a lot more than I expected them to
  11. Yeah, the official Gothic 3 forum was overloaded last night so I suspect one million germans have found their way there to complain their grubby little fingers off about the bugs. I'll check the mayhem today. Oh, and my Collector's Edition should arrive by mail today. Edit: Btw, my new GPU is a Sapphire Radeon X1950XTX 512 GDDR4. It isn't visible in the picture because it hasn't arrived yet. Supposed to arrive on the 17'th, almost a week after I've gotten my Gothic 3. Annoying.
  12. Today's youth! I remember back in the good old days when men were men and soldiers were soldiers. My army duty consisted of trodding through seven feet of snow.. in our underwear.. with a pack of wolves chasing us.. and we had bloody steaks on our backs! Oh, and we didn't have KotOR2 either, we had to settle for Pool of Radiance: Ruins of Myth Drannor. AND IT REFORMATTED OUR HARDDRIVES. Then they made us sort all those pesky 0 and 1's.. by hand! But it made me into the man I am today!
  13. 2GB DDR2 RAM? This is what's lying on my desk, waiting to be installed: Core 2 Duo E6600, Abit AW9D-MAX, 2GB DDR2-6400 Corsair Twin2X. Oh, and since it's not really visible in the picture: "Dual blades of visual fury with ATI CrossFire support for the best convenience in your dual graphics needs." That's actually written on the Abit motherboard package..
  14. Actually.. they aren't. But the modifying companies expect the new TT to be a huge hit so they're practically climbing all over each other to be the first with the worst. They're pumping out engine modifications, chassi improvements, lightweight rims and all these other cool stuff. And the stupid car hasn't even been released yet!
  15. Ok, so we've concluded that Hades lacks the real life dexterity needed to outmanouver the werewolf. Now what does the Dirty Birdie lack that makes her unable to figure out the lockpicks..? HMMM.
  16. Modified Audi TT. It still has the 200 hp 2.0 litres original engine, but the effect has been raised to a whopping 313 hp!
  17. Yup, I meant EB Games. Sorry about the confusion. By the way, about only 10% being pre-ordered, I couldn't find any official numbers, but I found this very recent study about the interest in next generation consoles: http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?option=c...d=3978&Itemid=2 "According to the study by Los Angeles based Interpret, 8.9 million U.S consumers
  18. Two new (german) reviews of Gothic 3, this time of the final retail version: 9.3/10 from Extreme Players: http://www.extreme-players.de/product_revi...?pid=645&aid=pc 9/10 from Eurogamer.de: http://www.eurogamer.de/article.php?article_id=68594 What were the reviewers complaining the most about? Bugs. Gee, what a shocker.
  19. Uhm.. Don't tell me you believe a blogpost on a.. cartoon site (or whatever it is)? Not exactly scientifically produced numbers If someone packaged poo in little boxes, said only 400,000 were produced and started selling them, people would still buy those boxes like crazy. People. Are. Stupid.
  20. Well.. that's your opinion. My opinion is that he used 1000 monkeys with 1000 typewriters.
  21. Preorder begins and BAM!, it hits eBay: http://video-games.search.ebay.com/playsta...Z1QQsacatZ62054 Also, gotta love EB games.. http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=4497 All those machines are probably put up there by Ebay employees. Sick.
  22. http://www.gametrailers.com/player.php?type=mov&id=13949 Neat video showing some of the different fighting styles in Gothic 3. Sounds and looks quite good, even though the narrator has a horrible german accent.
  23. Like he'd ever see this.
  24. I agree. The horror parts were scary for like.. a minute. Then you realized that the "scary" parts did nothing to harm you, hinder you or do anything but shamelessly copying The Ring-girl. I hope they can utilize the AI and the action in other games though, as those parts were superb (in stark contrast to the ultra-boring level designs and claustrophobic maps).
  25. I don't see the relevancy of almost anything you mentioned in your post. The only question is: if XP hadn't arrived and Windows ME had been the only successor to Windows 98, do you still think people would be using 98 today instead of ME, and do you think ME products would be compatible with 98? I believe we'd all be sitting with ME by now, 98 had been discontinued and nothing released today would work in 98. Vista will support DX9 (and lower) through a software layer, ie. an emulator. You think XP couldn't have handled both 16-bit applications and earlier Windows-version programs better, had Microsoft supported it?
