The Last Starfighter was great, and had the best sci-fi villain of all time: Also, Masters of the Universe. Movie might have been cheese overall, but movie Skeletor was an amazing villain, perfectly acted as well, and blew away his moronic comic book counterpart. And then there's Dune... a movie that broke with some of the book lore quite significantly, but still managed to remain true to it - and happened to spawn one of my all-time favourite games. One might even consider Krull sci-fi.

It's a very repetitive game. There are hundreds of star systems, but each one has the same fetch, combat & transport missions you need to do to upgrade your ship. Main story is very predictable too, and the characters + voice acting pretty bland. I'd call it 'Oblivion in space'. Good to rent for a weekend and play it through once.

All these movies are crap compared to the golden era of sci-fi in the 50s & 60s. The day the Earth stood still, Forbidden Planet... Queen of Outer Space. Lulz.

The mistake here was to allow celebrating a foreign holiday that has nothing to do with the US whatsoever. Why isn't this sort of thing celebrated in private? Or do descendants from French colonists celebrate July 14 at American schools too? Be too lenient with immigrants for a few decades and they start to try to change society from within to suit their own needs instead of adapting... in these here parts we have our own nice al-Qaeda cells (first female suicide bomber in Iraq was from Charleroi) & groups striving to introduce the sharia because of years of socialist pampering. In fact this whole incident reminds me of our muslims calling out to natives that dare eat something in front of them during the ramadan period, or calling western women whores for not dressing like the Virgin Mary. But this hoopnanny reminds me of when the Moroccon or Turkish national football teams come to Brussels to play our national football team, and the stadium's packed with Moroccon/Turkish immigrants who boo/whistle when the Belgian national anthem is played. *chuckle* Thankfully though, Belgians being the most anti-nationalistic people in the world, combined with extremely low self-esteem due to a history of national & international major screw-ups, don't give a hoot.

I've been getting pretty hyped about Gray Matter. It's the first big Jane Jensen game after GK3, and from what I've seen & read it reminds me a lot of The longest journey, with a setting combining magic in a high-tech future Earth. The main character (female, of course) seems pretty interesting as well. Maybe it will be the next big adventure game that revitalizes the genre and puts it back on the radar after years of mediocrity. Hopefully it is released this year. For the rest, I'm looking forward to Drakensang's Phileasson's expansion. Supposedly it's only 10 hours long, but one will be able to import the party from River of Time & visit a legendary location in DSA lore, similar to D&D's Myth Drannor.

I had this happen before, it is something with the dialogue. Don't immediately give up your weapons, when the Handmaiden asks to give up your weapons, first answer "Who are you?". After that, give up your weapons.

Casual sex aside, romance is not misplaced in a spy game. James Bond & Jack Bauer did have serious romantic relationships at one point. James Bond even married, but his bride got shot in the head shortly afterwards. A very similar thing happens to Jack Bauer's chick after they finally do the deed.
