  1. About those Legion clowns at Nipton: "Vulpes Inculta" is an epic fail. It should've been "Lupus Incultus", "vulpes" means fox, not wolf. I'm guessing he's wearing a wolf head because the wolf is an important symbol of Rome, i.e. the she-wolf who fed Romulus & Remus (Romulus being the founder of Rome according to legend). Anyway, it's hard to take those schmucks seriously. The only reason why I didn't shoot their heads off is because I feared to break yet another quest.
  2. The unique Varmint rifle, Ratslayer, has a 5x crit chance, and has all mods installed already. This weapon is the stealth character's wet dream.
  3. A sneak critical with a fully repaired Varmint is apparently 72 damage without Better criticals according to the wikia. Combined with Hunter perk & Better criticals, it's 100+ damage. Pretty ridiculous for the first weapon you get in the game. But my character with luck 10 has 25% chance of doing critical damage with VATS, turning even a 9mm pistol into a tool of destruction. When I take Finesse perk and get a weapon with a higher critical multiplier, about half of my shots should be criticals.
  4. What I find weird is that so far a sneak critical from the Varmint rifle owns almost everything I've encountered so far, including enemies that give 50 xp like Bighorners bulls. Even raiders in metal armour fall in one shot. Does this weapon have a higher critical multiplier or something? And really, so far weapons & armour are even easier to come by than in Fallout 3. I even found a laser rifle lying next to a dead wastelander.
  5. People are very fast around here. I've only just entered Nipton while I was actually on my way to Mojave camp. Stupid empty triangles keep distracting me.
  6. Walking into Nipton while the song about "my Johnny" is playing kinda ruins the atmosphere. Also, for some reason an entire pack of bighorners attacked me just outside the town; it was good for leveling up, at least. I also ran into evolved centaurs, disgusting creatures. I still don't understand how weapons work; the 10mm has a higher DPS but lower DAM than a .357 revolver - which is better and why? How does damage even work?
  7. Another possibility is to collect 3 scrap metal, 1 scrap electronics & 2 sensor modules to fix it. I just need 2 sensor modules and I'm done. Repair seems to be fairly useless to me, since I'm not interested in crafting and the weapon degrading isn't as fast as in FO3.
  8. It's a true Fallout game, after all.
  9. Really? Would that be the english version or the german version? Anything with Jane Jensen is a must have Wat? German version will include an English option.
  10. I just noticed there's a "Miss Fortune" and "Mysterious Stranger" perk at level 10. With both perks, is it possible for them to appear at the same time? That would be fun.
  11. I really wish I could repair the protectron in Primm to be the sheriff, but my only chance is finding several Fission batteries & conductors (which are very heavy to carry around). I also have the feeling that if I could succefully use Science on him, that he would lead me to a unique submachine gun.
  12. There's maybe hope for Gray Matter, which is coming out this week.
  13. I find FO3's radio & music to be much better than in NV. Wayne Newton always seems to play the same two songs, and I've heard the song about the ranger on the other radio a thousand times already.
  14. Catgirl? I don't remember that.
  15. What's the point of having a high repair? Is crafting necessary? I single-handedly took out the NCRCF but the NCR back at Primm didn't seem to care. Then again, they also didn't seem to care that a random stranger entered their tents and stole their armour.
  16. How did you manage to outrun it? I got pretty close to it, but noticed too late it was a Reaver and couldn't escape. It would probably have followed me all the way back to Primm and killed all the NCR troopers anyway.
  17. I regret having made a character with 3 strength & 2 intelligence. Now I have to look for tons of (heavy) junk to be able to fix robots. Not to mention I found lots of goodies that I can't carry with me because it's too heavy. On the other hand, 10 luck & 10 agility make combat a breeze.
  18. My games experiences a hiccough every time I exit a dialogue window or a barter screen. Very annoying. I'm guessing it's the same sound problem that was present with FO3.
  19. Does a crippled limb affect accuracy? I took out the goons in Primm with two crippled limbs, annoying as hell that was. NCR cannot into military operations, where's the medic, guys? Seriously.
  20. Strawman of the week.
  21. I'll nominate Dreamfall & Book of Unwritten Tales.
  22. I can no longer load my Quicksave... I just get an infinite load screen when I try to. I'll have to refer to my last manual save, which was 3 hours back at the Yangtze memorial.
  23. My character can queue 7 shots in VATS with the 9mm pistol and even managed to kill a lone giant radscorpion this way (don't they come in pairs always in FO3?). I thought about attempting to clear the Powder gang camp, but eventually decided to wait 'til I have a companion and some more resources. It already happened quite a few times that my character's limbs were crippled by invisible explosives around Powder gang camps.
  24. I doubt I could post anything that would appease your personal definition of "landmark".
  25. Can someone explain damage mechanics? The manual doesn't explain it very well. As I understand it, each weapon has a DAM & DPS, so if the weapon's DAM is higher than an enemy's DT, the enemy receives the full effect of DPS reduced by damage resistance? The thing is, I've had it happened that the red shield icon appeared, but still the enemy died quickly nonetheless.
