  1. Funniest comment I've seen about Hitler was "He was a great leader, just that he had bad ideas"
  2. Not sure what good that policy does, well other that avoid panty-knotting - my post is deleted for a cracktro of all things ? Bah! it's 8-bit esque audio Two different groups there, that bundle was DRM free so people just downloaded it without paying rather than actually cracking anything. Maybe some of the scene groups think they're doing this to stick it to The Man, though. Ah Iron Lore, that thread post teeters on bitter whinging, but he does make some good points, I found this bit kind of amusing Hard to tell an actual crash as opposed to a copy protection failure, so no wonder.
  3. Plotted the best way to garrote the coworker across from me. Who answers the phone "Uh...who is this?", bah. Sucks too, all the cool non-corporate stooge people quit my job due to heart trouble, being fed up, or expecting a child, so kinda stuck. Spent too much time arguing on forums today rather than working, though, whoops
  4. Right, that was insulting to you ? Sure, passive-agressive man, heh, I disagreed with it, hardly went on some tear on how worthless your argument is. As for GAF's policy, sounds reasonable. Another forum I'm on has people that throw a hissy fit over the mere mention of piracy itself and ban people, I guess that's a bit extreme compared to the policy you've mentioned. But nah, it wouldn't be vacant, we'd have fine moral examples like above.
  5. Never been on GAF, why ?
  6. And a lot because reverse engineering binaries and poring through assembly can be fun
  7. I'm pretty sure individuals do, but they keep the brand up, at least for the really old famous groups.
  8. They still do, you can find a whole bunch of them on Youtube oddly, of all places. Scene itself is still about cracking the games, as they compete with each other etc. and have their rules and what not. But I guess "leechers" have definitely undergone what you've described (which was my mistake of your meaning, I think).
  9. Hasn't it always been a subculture though? Way back to the Amiga days ?
  10. The packaging has really improved though.
  11. Yep, second time around I smashed it easy. But the first time out, I had no idea wtf I was doing to be frank, it was a brick wall.
  12. Hm, Monkey Island 2 SE does sound appealing. For once, there's something I want on these Steam sales!
  13. The swamp wasn't my favourite zone, at least in Chapter 2, especially at night - seemed to me more monsters came out then. The Arcehspores or the Coccacidium were almost unbeatable for me when I first played too.
  14. Well I don't invest in the industry, I just buy some games (although investing in the big publishers is a good idea they keep saying). Not quite the head of a Scene group yet. As for rationalizing past piracy, eh, I wouldn't say that I looked at it that way then or now.
  15. It would be odd to share it, as none of you particularly need to or care to know that, heh, I'd have thought that would have been obvious. But I guess you share easily. Convenient deduction on your part though. . Then again, depends on what we're taking regret as. Simply saying "Yeah that was bad to do, oh well" isn't what I'm thinking. Heh, it's like Harlequin.
  16. Well yes, I've a pretty good idea on what kind of stuff I'd regret, heh. And it's based on experience, imagine that eh ? Additionally, I can also draw on my friends for evidence of that, none of them have ever mentioned regretting pirating - not even the game developers. But really, pointless as you believe what you want to, and the "don't do it because you'll regret it" on the conscience level is pretty weak (rather look at the legal system making you do so, heh). Not sure what you mean by my 'youth' (although that is relative when you think about it, you might be 60!), given how I've not sated your apparent desire to know how old I am.
  17. Irvin Kershner died too.
  18. You believe age matters in this anyway. You might stop pirating as you get older (variety of reasons - e.g. play less, decide to be a consumer or just not being with 'it' anymore), but as for regretting past piracy ? Eh, hardly. You'll regret doing things that were a negative impact on people you know or you, not regretting depriving Ubisoft or EA of your $60. As for my 'reluctance' to tell you of all people my age, well, you're welcome to assume anything you like.
  19. Because it's irrelevant ? If you think it is, I'd like to hear the reasoning
  20. No, that's not it really, most likely lack of concern for the tiny impact it had (and gratitude for stress relief at no cost!) Doubt simply aging is going to change my opinion on the matter
  21. But can you beat Kurasawa 2 in WC ?
  22. This is headline news up here, kinda sad, heh.
  23. I'm wondering how the release of diplomatic cables is exposing evil acts or something. Is interesting and all, but largely not seeing anything particularly noble about this. Shocking that diplomats dont say nice things about others, really.
  24. The stupidity in this thread is staggering. I blame my lack of a Ferrari on the legit market not accomodating me. Well, it makes it even more tempting if you have a game priced arbirtrarily higher than other places. The legit market might as well not try to compete there, when you can go to a local store or hop on Usenet and get it. Hm, nope, not regretting it these days. Was a good way to save cash and have fun back at Uni labs, heh. Besides, you'd think Ubisoft would have suffered from it.
