I don't know about you, but back then in 1998, there was no better FPS out there than Half-Life. It was the revolution, as BG was the revolution to the old forgotten RPG genre. Sounds dramatic, but nobody can deny it's success. Not to mention the excellent and vibrant mod community that was born thanks to Valve's commitment to support it's products. I also think that HL2 was back then in 2004 the second coming. But maybe I'm just a Valve fanboy, and other's aren't. And whether they "deserve" this success is irrelevant - they are, because people love them and their games. Valve simply rocks!

BREAKING NEWS: PIRANHA BYTES' XBOX 360 EXCLUSIVE RPG
Morgoth replied to Llyranor's topic in Computer and Console
Well there's still Far Cry/Crysis which has international success. But otherwise, I agree with the Kaft. German made games design is still somewhat stuck in the dark ages. Sacred is lacking imagination, and doesn't really do anything new since the stone-age old Diablo 2. Gothic series isn't doing anything new in the RPG genre, but at least they get that certain "oh it's fun and beautiful" thingy right. Then there're other attempts that haven't really done anything new, like the Settlers series (which imo even got worse). Too bad Blue Byte doesn't exist anymore, I'd have liked a new Incubation. Austrian attempts are similarly fail-ridden, with Avencast, albeit having a somewhat unique combat system, fails at being mediocre in other areas. New attempts like survival horror game "Cursed Mountain" (albeit only for Wii) and "Ride to Hell" show promise, but I wouldn't hold my breath on those, too. So the bottom line is: As long as Story and progressive game design doesn't get more attention from these companies, they'll continue to get stuck in the dark ages, and nobody will take them serious. Or how many gamers are looking forward to diamonds like Dragon Age, Aliens RPG and Alpha protocol, and how many even notice some dip**** games like Sacred 2? -
The PS3 Thread of Butterflies and Lollipops!
Morgoth replied to Llyranor's topic in Computer and Console
I tried out the demo, but this game is totally gay (and unmanly). It's just this anime crap I can't stomach. I mean seriously, 12 year old girl in mini, armed with rifle and giving orders. How stupid is that? Kudos to the nice cell-shading graphics though. -
The TV speakers are crappy, so I connected the Audio to my Headphones amplifier instead. But switching to Mono ingame doesn't do the trick. I could connect the stereo chinch to the center/sub of the amplifier instead, but then the quality suffers. Nope, I'm gonna get a new AV cable. Played a bit Metroid Prime. It's pretty fun, the aiming system is kinda unique, too. I also played Resident Evil, but alas to now avail. I already get killed by the second zombie. Only having 15 bullets and no health spray, I need 10-11 bullets to kill the first zombie, when I get to the first level, I only have the knife left, but the zombie grabs be and sucks the life out of me. There gotta be some more ammo around somewhere.

Every game should be released through Steam, both through internet and retail. Of course publishers would have to pay a certain fee to Valve.

Finally I received my games. It's not easy to come by these GC games these days. I got Resident Evil, Metroid Prime and Eternal Darkness. Unfortunately, the AV cable seems to have a defect. The white audio channel doesn't work for whatever reason. Cut the Cinch plug open, but both signal cable and shield is properly connected, no short circuit either. Guess I'll have to play with a single channel till I get a new cable. Shall it be the left, or the right one?

Looks pretty good. And also yay for going X360. That should make them at least 10x more money as well. It's also going to be released around the same time as Arcania, which means fanboy nerd-rage-wars will be inevitable.

Half Life 1 is still my personal favorite from Valve. And I'm so looking forward to the Black Mesa Mod.

It's going to be a new Baldur's Gate. What else? -
My opinion on the words "dialogue" and "dialog".
Morgoth replied to J.E. Sawyer's topic in Way Off-Topic
I barely understand the mountain folks we have in western Austria. But with time someone gets used to it. But then again, there are dozens over dozens different accents in the German language. And don't get me started about the old proletarian Viennese. That's quite hefty (but then again only few use it these days). Contrary, the French don't seem to have these varieties. Asking my French colleague, it's mostly streamlined over the whole country, with a slightly difference in the northern parts. He also said Quebec French is ugly gibberish. I can't quite hear the difference, but then again my French skills are very little. -
No, people who complain about those not liking comics is trolling, not people who tell trolls to get a life. Get a life, then. Troll!

Dutch can be slighty understood by Germaniacs, but everything from there in the north (yes, I mean those Scandinavians) really sounds nasty and unclean. -

I swear I'll do my best writing correctly from now otherwise Josh will come and stab me death in my deep sleep. Some funny thing: Back then, when people got executed by hanging and official information was shared through telegraphs, proper comma placement by the telegrpaher often decided a man's life. There's a huge difference between "Wartet, nicht h -

Thinking of ToEE, I met this huge giant Frog, and he just swallowed my party members. Is there a way to kill that behemoth plus getting attacked by lizard folks and staying alive?

For button mashers, I recommend using a gamepad. You can get one already for 10

Finished it today. I'm so sad now. I didn't quite get the end though. Is Snake now dead or not?

Hi there internet message board member! You know that you can work and occasionally look into forums? It's called multitasking, kiddo. Otherwise, I'm not interested in reading Comics. Why are people so pissed about that? Go get a life lol. so... if you have no interest in comics, why even bother posting in a comic book thread? Uh, may I not? Besides, I love seeing these hilarious reactions everytime I disagree with the tide. Is that to be interpreted as intentional trolling? Disagreeing with the tide now means trolling? Bah. That's just sad.

Fact is, English has become a global language, so transformations are inevitable. Still, both native speakers and foreigners should try their best to adhere to the linguistic rules. Heck, even in German speaking countries, there are tons of abberations from the standard rules. (not meaning accents) Like we Austrians seldomly use the past tense. Like "Die Katze sa -
The AP website still has March 2009 on it, so I figure that's the correct date. don't trust these websites. They barely get updated. I think SEGA/Obs came to conclusion that the game needs an extra few months, so they also informed the retailers. But of course this could be also baseless speculation.

Now I'm in Act 5. That mech fight (REX vs. RAY) was really cool. I wouldn't mind that Kojima makes a decent mech game one day. And the cutscenes are great as ever. Stupid Akiba, touching woman's asses. And Drebin doing his super-jump, then burping. Those guys at Kojima know how to make memorable cutscenes.
