Heavy Rain
So i read about the game today for the first time O.o, and from what i read i got very excited, finaly a game where your actions have real consequences in-game and should have different gameplay than anything else what is released today... Will it be the new wind in the gaming industry, or will it fail like the previewer predicts... http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2010/02...ned-to-fail.ars I am willing to risk it and give the game a chance, just to show that some gamers want different stuff to play... what about you? PS: it's PS3 exclusive...

The Age of New DRM
@Nightshape: It will when people notice, that they can't play their games, because snowstorm, their dog or E.T. has eaten their internet cables... and no, pirates and 2nd hand sales did not forced you to go this way, it was only your paranoia and greed... If it were the case, we would be all wearing Nike/<insert your favourite brand> shoes with blood sampler which will ensure that it can be only worn when your DNA matches it record, to ensure that we can't resell them or some naughty chinese bootlegers will not copy them... they are just not that stupid to drive away their customers, like you are doing it... Used sales drive the industry... Upper class buys new originals, middle class sells their used stuff to be able to afford new originals, lower class buys used or bootlegs... Cut off the middle class from their ability to resell and you loose most of your customers... Unless you are willing to sell your games for 10-15EUR... Because in this economic times, paying 50-60EUR for a non-essential good, which can't be used as people wish is ridiculous...

I can ask you the sam but the opposite: Why would you waste your time arguing over the use of the term theft instead of the proper name copyright infringement then? when i was a child I was always learned by my parents, to name the things with their proper name, and not to pull them out of my ass, whenever i did lied or pulled some stuff out of my ass which was very different from the truth, i got a spanked...

Quite a few people have hinted at it. then you must be seeing something different, than anybody else...

The Age of New DRM
Name aside, what's the difference? Copyright Infringement: You work on your super secret business project and someone gets into your house copies all your work on his external harddrive, and then release the product as his own, you still have your product, so you can publish your version and compete with the Copyright Infringer with better support, more functions available in the product... You most likely do not get all the money you could when you would be only person in the world with the right to copy your work, but you still can make nice living out of your work and continue to make your product better and better, despite the leak... Stealing: You work on your super secret business project and someone gets into your house and steals your PC, all your backups, including the backup in the cloud, and then release the product as his own, you are ****ed right in the ass, because you lost everything all your code, all your notes you had and possibly go bankrupt... Hopefuly you now understand the difference between Stealing and Copyright Infringement...

You were implying that if Nightshape says downloading copyright content is theft, then we should listen to him because he works on games (he's been hired by someone now has he? Good for him). Not so, and the law doesn't actually define copyright infringement as theft. Perhaps that is how you roll down under, but in the US we have the NET act. 5 years in prison and $25,000. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NET_Act Of course a geeky kid sitting in his basement downloading a couple games isn't going to be much of a target for law enforcement. The resources it takes to track down every bit of piracy isn't considered worth it, but that does not make it legal or put it in a moral gray area. It's wrong and there is no justifying it. No one is justifying piracy... Why everyone is going berserk, when someone calls the piracy with the true name according to the law? It was always defined as Copyright Infringement... Be it games, music, movies or whatever else what can be copied without removing the original from the rightful owner...

My loss is only things that i do realy miss... and believe me, i will never miss any **** like that... Well surely you won't miss the DRM measures, but what if your most favorite game gets released (and you know you want it), but also uses some DRM? My most favourite game of 2008 was Mass Effect, and i do not miss at all that i never played that game, i used the saved 50 EUR to purchase 5 Platinum Edition Games for PS1/2, i had so much fun, that i realy do not remember when was the last time i enjoyed my gaming time so much...

You know, with that kind sort of DRM, i do not want games to exist... Aren't you a bit overreacting? No... I am happy that there are still games without retarded **** like UbiSoft's DRM... Last year i spent about 1000-1100EUR on computer/console entertainment, i am planning to spent aproximately same amount this year... I know i am only 1 gamer, but it makes me warm inside when i think, that Ubi and EA (and any other company which games require Steam to work) will never touch any of these money spent...

You do know that the shirt analogy is a really bad one rigth. If you could magically duplicate shirts at no cost we would be getting somewhere. I count CD check in the DRM category, don't you guys ? You can magically duplicate shirts, not for free but for less than 10 cents a piece... just hire some SouthEast Asian company...

AvP banned in Australia because the developer refuses to censor it
So that means you will require Steam to play AvP. I wonder if Sega will do the same with AP. What a dissapointment
