Attacks in Paris
Short version for stoned people: don't escalate a fight by conventional means against an enemy such as this. You can't fight evil with stupidity. 15 year on and all of the US' meddling in the ME has only served to destabilize the entire place and make it a playground for extremists such as ISIS. The US wanted to fight Al Qaeda but neither nation-building in Afghanistan (which is now failing utterly, as shown in the amount of Afghans migrating to Europe) nor the completely useless invasion of Iraq had anything to do with this, and both of these actions have served to increase the support for extremist Islamism, not the other way around. The enemy of your enemy is not necessarily your friend. The enemy of your friend is not necessarily your enemy, and so on.rR Ros you are a smart guy with a good perspective so I generally always read what you say...but I think you being a little harsh here I see things very differently and with a different lens... You can't blame the USA for the Arab Spring and much of the general bedlam in the ME is a result of the consequences of that The Gulf \Sunni states seem fine and so is Iran which is at least some stability Yes Iraq was a mistake But except for ISIS I don't think its that bad ? Like it or not, one of the reasons, why Europe is now obliterated by refugees from Africa is dead Kadaffi. He was a prime example of an despotic dictator, but he was the biggest buffer for Europe. Killing him, and letting the country in chaos was very very stupid move... Now we have two "legitimate" governments in Libya, and both of them are profiting from this business...

Attacks in Paris
Well drowsy, do not think that he is better than anyone. He says everything just to be sure that he wins next year elections. It is all cold and calculated pre-election campaign. The first thing he has done after attacks in Paris, was to blame refugees. He is slowly helping to turn this beautiful country into clerical-fascist country which we were during WW2. We already have one fascist voted into the office taking care of one of the biggest and poorest counties/regions who is gaining more and more power because of our prime ministers rhetorics. What Merkel has done at the start of the crisis was foolish, but that does not change that our prime minister's intentions are as false as Louis Vitton's handbag on bazaar in Istanbul.

Okay dude I apologize, you are more than aware of this type of event I am sorry because I feel I know nothing about Slovakia yet I should. Do other EU members on this forum know about Slovakia? Slovakia is one of the less known EU countries in the world. If you or anyone else would like to know more about it, please search up about our cultural heritage and nature. You asked about the worst things in Slovakia and I have answered to you with honesty, but this country does not deserve to be mentioned only in that way.

Attacks in Paris
We had a dozens of attacks of right wing extremists against gypsies and we had few months ago an right wing extremist attack against Saudi family walking on the street with their kid in pushchair (is this the right word for vehicle for small kids?) which were visiting graduation ceremony of their family member on University in Bratislava in last few years. They were attacking them with pavement stones. We had people openly celebrating death of 70 refugees found in truck car in Austria. We had even referendum, which promoted hatespeech against LGBT people. Thankfully our Highest Court have not allowed some of the questions, but still it happened and the TV advertisements promoting this referendum were disgusting. Our prime minister is at the moment actively promoting anti-islamic tension based on fearmongering. He openly said that we will allow help for only Christian refugees from Syria as a part of his pre-election advertisement. And of course some Slovaks are currently fighting in Ukraine on both sides of conflict. I know it's futile compared to what has happend in Beirut on Russian plane over Egypt or in Paris. But hate against anything "non-slovak" and "non-christian" is rising with alarming trending especially among the teenagers and in population under age of 30.

Closing mosques is a step against an religion, bringing imams which promote hatespeech to justice is step against criminal behaviour. If people can bring to justice right wing nuts which promote antisemitism, I do not see a reason why people can't bring to justice religious nuts which promote violence against christians.
-
Attacks in Paris
Yes, if these Mosques are allowing Hate Speech then you need to close them down...harsh but fair Sorry, but closing mosques, which serves to all of muslims, instead of bringing to justice the radical imams, which are spreading the hatespeach is retarded and will bring more death upon French, because it will be used only for propaganda of ISIS and their likes. It will solve nothing.

Surveillance in the Soviet Union was to suppress dissent. Surveillance in the US is to fight national security threats, a valid function of a democratic government. You're not free if you're being murdered by a terrorist, even if you yell whatever you want in the last moments of life. Don't conflate 2 completely different things. Well StB and I am sure that KGB said the bolded thing the whole time as well I am sorry to tell that, but I really do not know, if I should laugh or facepalm about your naivity. Infinite power corrupts infinitely, and mass surveillance of your own citizens is a pavement made out of sweet talks and fearmongering into the acquiring infinite power...

@ WoD You are advocating mass surveilance of your own citizens. We were experiencing that for 41 years. We know what we are talking about...

That's what US government was doing, wasn't it? And you're upset that Snowden exposed it. Please correct me if i missed something. What the US government was doing was looking for any pattern of communication between known terrorist groups, individuals and supporters of terrorism. They were not "spying on everybody" despite what Putin, Assange and the free Russian press might be telling you. Yes this is 100% correct, the real damage seems to be from Americans and people on these forums like KP who feel there government betrayed them Well even Europalament MPs thinks that Snowden did the right thing... http://arstechnica.co.uk/tech-policy/2015/10/european-parliament-votes-to-shield-snowden-from-extradition-to-us/

Attacks in Paris
I said, that I am old enough to remember very good life under communism. And heard a lot of stories from my family, after they were finally able to talk because StB (ex- Czechoslovak CIA/KGB) stopped to spy on everyone. Your politicians are now advocating something, what was part of everyday life in my and in other communist countries. Your politicians had chance to take the lesson about what was done wrong in the East Europe, but for whatever reason, they are committed to repeat the same mistakes, like we did...

Attacks in Beirut
Because I am ashamed, that Slovak media do not report almost anything about this incident which happend one day before Paris executed by ISIS, please allow me to express the condolences to all the people which lost they relatives in this despicable act of cowardice and terorrism at least here, and also express hope, that media in your country are not as blind to these events as ours. Also allow me to express the admiration for this man, which gave away his life in an exceptional act of courage and saved hundreds of lives of innocent people from tragic death. http://www.unilad.co.uk/news/beirut-attacks-this-hero-sacrificed-his-life-to-save-hundreds-from-isis-terrorists/ Please, do pray for Paris, but do not forget to pray for Beirut as well. The apathy to tragic events like this, is halfway to the victory of terrorism against all humanity.

Attacks in Paris
I asked the question to you. He answered it with 1 point which is completely wrong. I live here, and I am old enough to remember communism. As you noticed, I have said nothing about point 1 and 2 which are seen by not as many people in east europe the same way, but that is more about the cultural background and different way how are these things thought in schools across europe and both sides of this view are actually true enough, that trying to fight each other for which view is the correct one is exercise in pure futility. But as I said. No one has the right to educate me how 1989 happend here, unless he was a part of it. My views towards the west are not very far away from your in all honesty. One of the reaons is, that my income is at the level of average Austrian. But as I said, I will never cease to critize what is wrong in the western world, as my family never ceased to critized what was wrong in soviet world, despite being persecuted. That's why we have free speech in the first place don't we? I have described you, how things are looking here, and why general Slovak populace will always be more friendly towards Russia than towards west. But another point is that it is kinf of sad that neither of these other two valid points of "positive" western influence to other countries, which he presented as his examples, are younger than 60 years. The point number 3 is completely wrong and does not have anything to do with the actual reality. The issue many in the rest of the world are not able to understand, that in the newly joined EU countries is rampant Eurofunds Mafia, which controls flow of all the money and even if you would like to have your own business, they will drive you to the ground, because they see you as the competition which may in closer future weaken their power and position...

Attacks in Paris
I was there, and loved that there was nowhere any garbage lying around. I seriously wish, that something like that, would be enforced in my country and in many EU countries, which I've visited as well... Do these count? Defeated the Nazis and Imperial Japan --> Germany and Japan became modern liberal democracies and allies. Defended South Korea from Communism --> South Korea became a modern liberal democracy and ally. (Look at North Korea to get an impression of what it would have otherwise become.) Deterred China from invading Taiwan --> Taiwan became a modern liberal democracy and ally. Put a stop to Soviet expansionism and supported democracy/freedom movements in the Eastern Block --> The Soviet Union is gone and countries like Poland and the Czech Republic have become modern liberal democracies and allies. I am from Slovakia. You have absolutely no clue what happened in 1989, so please don't try to teach me how the allmighty west saved me from Soviet oppresion... I consider myself as an proud European, but I am not blind to how corrupt is power in today's West, as much as my family were not blind how corrupted was power in Soviet Union. My family was forced to move by our government across Czechoslovakia because of their religion. My grand dad ended up in jail, because he did not wanted to convert himself to orthodox christianty, which was only allowed reliogion here at that time. It took 18 years to rebuild Slovakia after 1989 so that the people would get the same real income as they had in 80s. In 2015 the real average income in Slovakia is 13% above real income in 1989. But 57% of the population never had income at the level of average income. So statisticaly approximately 40% of our people have worse living standard than they had during period of Communism in 80's. So please excuse these people if they do not give a single flying **** about how all mighty west helped them to embrace the democracy. That being said. The 1989 coup in Czechoslovakia was executed by the technocratic communists who were fed up with the unability of the communist party to engage more into "free trade". The idea about the coup was nice, but in the coming 26 years, Slovakia has became the most corrupt country in the European Union and is currently being controlled by 5 people. Mr. Siroky, Mr. Hascak, Mr. Brhel, Mr. Vyboh and Mr. Tkac. These 5 people became multi billionaiers with the help of Slovak government in the last 26 years by actively promoting corruption and funneling the Eurofunds into their Cyprus and Belize accounts through various off-shore companies which are chosen without real competition to win state tenders. No one in the west gives a **** that these 5 people are stealing their money from their own taxes. All they care about, is getting cut costs for their companies so they can enjoy our cheap labour and not need to employ much costlier German, French, British labour. So once again, please excuse all those people having in 21st century in European Union monthly income at the level around 500 EUR to give a single flying **** about how you "perfect" westerner brought them democracy. Because every year is this way stolen more than 3 billion of EUR from the taxes of whole european union citizens just in Slovakia. Thank you.

I would be interested to hear your honest opinion on when you think, was the last time the west really successfully interfered in other countries affair, without turning them into utter political mess and hotbed for extremism.

Look to be fair you can't judge these types of perceived strange or unreasonable decisions by countries like Malaysia ...I understand they seem strange but these are countries are ruled by religious doctrine and modern laws Its fine, we don't have to understand or agree with them but its there decision. As long as they don't export terrorism or have tens of thousands of immigrants wanting to get to Europe its not a big deal Just reminded myself that in Singapore you get caned for throwing chewing gum on the street. I was there, and loved that there was nowhere any garbage lying around. I seriously wish, that something like that, would be enforced in my country and in many EU countries, which I've visited as well...

Oh yeah, let's turn the whole west into the incarnation of 1984. I think Jefferson would be proud now... Snowden is a traitor and betrayed his country.... and he did reveal how the NSA have the ability to monitor most social media so now maybe certain extremist groups may not use Facebook or Twitter as a way to communicate but I imagine this would have happened eventually so I don't think we can blame him for this ? In EU he is considered a hero who did risk everything so others can still enjoy one of the basic human rights, which is right to privacy.

lol where you hear that? No one being executed in Malaysia, in fact one ex Muslim won the case in the court to become a Christian https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lina_Joy Do not get into "political" debates with Gromnir. Sooner or later he will make you question either yours or his sanity ;-)

Well because they are probably to busy to smuggle cocaine to your country. /sarcasm off Judging all people because of actions of the few is pretty much what makes people like al-Bagdadi happy about the "work" which they do...

Well, despite that assertion being a bit comic, ISIS being contained and all (then again that's a decent weasel word). Not sure that ending torture really hurt the cause, not did limiting surveillance. Price of a free country is being open to this kind of attack and all. No, it's the price of stupidity. And Obola not only ended "torture" (which Bush already stopped for the most part, it was only used initially in a few cases), he stopped virtually all interrogation. On another subject, our borders are porous. If they weren't, deported criminals wouldn't be able to return 5,6,7 times. The reason we hadn't had a cross-border terrorist attack is the drug cartels won't allow it, they don't want the border to be closed. It's very amusing how some here try to deny that radical Islam is responsible for the attacks. No one is denying that radical moslems are responsible. People are just saying that not all of the moslems are radicals. I do not know if your media already mentioned it, but the attacks were executed in places, where many foreign nationalities live alongside French people without having any issues. I would say, this was one of the reasons behind the attack, hoping that the people living there start to hate each other...
