Just a thought: Can someone with a twitter account be so kind and make Tom Hall aware of this Square - Enix move? https://twitter.com/thattomhall Thanks!

http://www.siliconera.com/2015/02/17/square-enix-offers-eidos-p-indie-developers-use/ Among the IPs offered to indies is also Anachronox... Man I wish I had some hundred thousands euros now... All I can do is now, is wait and hope that someone does not take the IP into another bad smartphone pay-to-win game EDIT: One more link directly to SE collective. http://collective.square-enix.com/news/32/first-eidos-ips-made-available-via-square-enix-collective

Well D&D system is better than what PoE has developed. That automatically gives it a head start. Of course people are excited. Is it? I really don't know. I do know that 3E was a step down from previous editions, but a step I could stomach. 4E was utter poop. I've really got no reason to believe that 5E is any good at all as WotC lost all credibility with me many years ago. I honestly don't like much of what I've seen Josh do to the PoE ruleset, but it still looks better than 4E to me, albeit not much. What would get me to play SCL would be a compelling story, and that's what likely is going to keep me playing PoE (assuming it has one) in spite of PoE having many modern design philosophies that I consider utter poop implemented in it's mechanics. In what ways exactly is 5E better than PoE? Lets say it tries to fix some same things that Sawyer did try with PoE, but it actually does it well.It also knows when not to change things that work. Having a rules system that is developed for 30+years vs one developed for 2 years.. hmm, hmm.. which one is better.. I wonder.. Ambiguous answer. I asked for some exacts. A couple of examples are in order, not more ambiguous opinion. And a great game need not have decades of development behind it. In fact, I'd say games that 'develop' over such a long period of time generally suck now. D&D was at it's best less than 2 decades in, it didn't take it 2 decades to get there, and it's been pretty much all downhill since the mid 90s. Other examples would be World of Warcraft, which reached it's peak in quality years ago, and Magic the Gathering, which reached it's peak in quality almost two decades ago. The best games are generally not 'evolving' their design over time, and especially not doing so in order to milk it's fanbase of more money as a primary motivation for doing so as all of the previously mentioned games do. While there are variants, we are playing the same game of chess people played long long ago. - Like PoE, 5e tries to make all classes more useful instead of it being a wizard show but it does so in a different way. It leaves spells pretty powerful but limits how often you can use them. It also lets usually more mundane classes have subclasses that have more or less active abilities (like fighter can choose to be a Champion (passive), a Battle Master(uses maneuvers) or a Eldritch Knight(uses some spells))- 5e reduces the need to have clerics in party by letting all characters heal some of their wounds between combat. Unlike PoE it does not remove Cleric ability to heal their allies. - 5e uses a unified basic mechanic that governs weapon and spell attacks by using something called a proficiency bonus that is only dependent on character level and not class level. Those with weapon proficiency get it as a bonus to their weapon attacks and spellcasters use it to determine the spell difficulty. PoE also uses a unified roll for weapon and spells but they also use a graze and critical system all connected to this which is worse in my opinion. - 5e solves the problem of some attributes being less useful by making all 6 attributes used to save vs different effects and also by not strictly tying skill use to specific attribute but letting players and DM use other attribute in right situation to solve problems with skills. It does not go out of its way to completely remove any realism from attributes like PoE does for the sake of "balance". - health of characters and creatures and damage done stays at low number and never goes into MMO spheres. I feel at higher levels PoE monsters will have life in thousands. It helps that armor does not reduce damage but only reduces hit chance unlike PoE. - It uses bound accuracy system where to hit bonus always stays pretty low but so does armor class. It creates a system where no matter your level you will always fear big enough number of lower level enemies. In PoE you will get your deflection high enough so you never need to worry about those low level enemies. You named almost all of the reasons, why I am currently playing Pathfinder and not DnD

Do they have forums? Bruce you should create an account there and ask them if they'll have romance. I just checked the forums and people are already asking about it Yeah but Bruce is a promancer's pro. If anyone can successfully lobby for it, that would be Bruce. The promancer army is legion, our tentacles permeate all gaming mediums Also its actually a normal question to ask for Romance in a RPG, remember you guys with your aversion to Romance are the exceptions..not the norm To bad your legion is not lobbying more in the eastern regions. Your tentacles permeating JRPGs could bring romances in computer games into whole new level!!!

Good thing I got my copy before then, then. Not that I've played it yet. But I have it! Same for me

Fallout is not available on GoG. Bethesda pulled it right after they got all rights to FO games. No clue about other DDs.

"Bioware should have bought the IP." No.

I liked the TB combat of Xulima, but I played the game only for few hours. But for me, the fact, that the game is not so open, is a big plus. When the game is open to much, I always get bored after few days of playing and lose all interest,

Considering the MMO market is thriving with a number of titles, it seems to me like you don't know much about the market or the genre. You don't need anywhere near WoW numbers to turn a healthy profit. I mostly agree with you, but having ****loads of revenue, does not automatically means you are not in red numbers in the end. And your table also proves few of ktchong's points. MMO market is dominated by WoW and NCsoft. For a new MMOs, it is very hard to get out of red numbers after all. The biggest example is SW: TOR. The game was a reason why EA bought Bioware in the first place IMO, that's 860 mio. Let's say Bioware was worth 4/5 of the price (688 mio) of whole Bio/Pandemic bundle and the development cost 200 mio (not included marketing costs and royalties). http://venturebeat.com/2012/01/20/ea-spent-only-200m-to-make-star-wars-the-old-republic/ The estimate of the development time and all expenses included is at 500 mio. That makes 1,188 bio of money spent on that game. So even if the revenue would be profit, which is not, the game would get into black numbers maybe in 7 - 8 years, because most of the money earned was from the initial sales, and these revenues are not in the table as well. As we all know the difference between revenue and profit can be astronomical. EAs revenue in 2013 was 3,797 bio. GAAP net income was 98 mio. Non-GAAP revenue and net income was at 3,793 bio and 264 mio respectively. http://investor.ea.com/releasedetail.cfm?ReleaseID=762744 So coming out of these numbers, my uneducated guess is, that it might take them a "little bit" more that 7-8 years to get out of red number with this game FFXIV is very similar story, but so far without numbers provided (feel free to correct me if I missed them) But on the other hand FFXI was confirmed by Wada-san as a most profitable FF ever. http://www.famitsu.com/news/201206/23016877.html http://andriasang.com/con1mt/ffxi_profits/ But nevertheless it took them 10 years to get there.

Lets not Ugh...leave that kiddie HS crap for JRPG territory. I facepalm/cringe every time I hear Chris bring that up. He needs to put that one to rest for good. dont they have that in a way? its almost like south park there is a way to satisfy most of these needs without having to start a new ip pillars of eternity 2, set 200 years in the future in a steampunk world with a western feel to it (like wild wild west for example) pillars of eternity 3, set 500 years after 2. space pirates mixed in a war between the humans, elf, orlan etc with an alien race for control of a planet that does not belong to either of them pillars of eternity 4, set 1000 years after 3, where cyber enhanced orlans, with the use of interdimensional travel, try to save earth during alternate history WW2, where goth vampire elfs are collaborating with Hitler and leading crusade against humanity. The only option for them how to save the Earth is to join forces with rich kid gangster Aumauas and nerd Dwarves, to find Big Magic Sword hidden by Godlikes in Mesozoic history of earth!

It definitely sounds interesting! What is this fascination with open worlds lately? I miss the days of tighter and narrower sprawly environments, like say the Spencer Mansion in Resident Evil, or even more recently, the Asylum in Arkham Asylum. It carries the good parts about backtracking, where familiarity with the environment felt nice and intuitive.. the place environment became home. Most open world settings as of late feel very unforgettable and unnecessarily padded.. to keep it on topic in regards to Levine, I'd say BioShock 1 had it right with Rapture. I hope this open world thing is just another phase the industry is going through before the next big thing arrives. You know, Skyrim happened, and now everyone wants slice of this pie. Same like it was with MMOs few years ago. Every single open world game I played was so boring after a while, and as you say, the setting of them and story is completely forgettable. http://www.thejimquisition.com/2015/01/the-jimquisition-we-need-more-spencer-mansions/ He might be controversial sometimes, but this episode is exactly taken from my mind... I sometimes wish, that we could again get new Final Fantasy with HD prerendered backgrounds and static cameras. FF IX-2 made this way in collaboration with Sakaguchi-san would satisfy most of my wet dreams... Unfortunately this will never happen

Finally got 30000 kills Battle Trophy with Edge in Star Ocean Last Hope International. After 570 hours played I am missing only last 54 out of 900 Trophies. Thankfully the hardest and all except one timeconsuming are finished. 5 more trophies with Myuria, and I can finally go for another playthrough of the game on 2nd hardest difficulty to get another PS Trophy. After that one playthrough on easiest to finish 49 trophies for dead Faize, and then only one more playthrough on hardest difficulty, and I should see to pop-up the Platinum for this game O.o This is my biggest test of my patience. I started game during Xmas 2010 and I was always getting back to the game after bigger or smaller breaks of up to 6 months. But with PoE coming closer and closer to the release, I do not think I will be able to finish this game before summer. And right after that, I should consult my shrink

This is awesome to read, if this will be feature of Galaxy for all games after it gets into full release, it is an awesome news!!!
