Just get a Switch. Or connect your PC to your TV with an HDMI cable and get a bunch of wireless controllers. I don't drink beer so that may be the killing factor, but it usually takes us a grand total of 15 minutes to find, download and start playing a couch co-op/competitive game with no preparation. Unfortunatelly, I am not a target demographics for Nintendo. I Got Wii and three games, and played it like for two months, and I have so far the same impression of the Switch. Also, even if I found something must have, not being able to backup saves for a lot of games, is heavy dealbreaker for me. On the other hand, due to layout of my home and my girlfriend, even though I have connected the PC to my TV, It’s hard for more than two people to sit next to each other to play stuff, with my consoles, it is much different.

This is one of the most enjoyable things, that uncontrollable greed in industry killed off. Simple couch co-op with friends and beer... *sadface*

About hour ago, I have finished after 53,5 hours, Battle Chasers: Nightwar. All in all, I was having fun most of the time. The turn based combat was fun, and the story was interesting. Around level 16 it started to get little bit grindy, but later, it became faster-pacing again. The final battle made me sweat, because I was not able to kill final boss at level 29. I had to go grind for another 15 minutes or so in the final dungeon. I was lucky and found there nice Attack Bonus Shrine, which helped me a lot in defeating the boss on the next try. I love the art style and really enjoyed playing it, so I hope the developers will make next game soon, and we'll be able to see the continuation of the story of our heroes .

GOG/DRM free
Mamoulian War replied to Icelander's topic in The Outer Worlds: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Anything else than GOG is unfortunatelly a dealbreaker for me. I am enjoying your games, so I really hope, you will release it on GOG as well. -
Nah. That seems more like to better design the sharp XP curve, which forces you to buy XP boosters pack, so it is will be less visible by random player Joe How to hide it better, than with "proper" RPG elements

And maybe it will suck less than DA:I and ME:A :D Who am I kidding, it will be another attempt at Engagement Driven Live Service crap, everyone except few whales forgets in two months... Inquisition was a good game it just had a bad main story and sub-par multiplayer.Don't know how other people see this, but for me, that pretty much sums up a description of a bad game and a bad "Live Service"

Exactly what I was searching for So maybe some other people might find this useful as much as I do -

With all the X4 news flying around, I just got really big space sim itch, which was not satisfied good enough since Freelancer. GOG has a sale right now, and I do not want to jump right into 4th game. So I am thinking to start right from the beginning. Would you recommend me the 1st game as well? Can I finish it under 600 hours? -

Keyrock, are older X games playable with classic gamepads, or you need proper flight stick? -
When will you announce your secret game?
Mamoulian War replied to Tokens's topic in Obsidian General
It's not Dune. It's a new IP Cain&Boyarsky etc. have created. It's not Sawyer's historical game either. Sawyer is producing the game, he isn't the project director and the game has been in the making for few years already and Josh just got moved onto the project. And the project has a name Project Indiana. Obsidian has trademarked The Outer Worlds so the game is most likely going to be called that. I mean, this info basically screams a new, but familiar take on Fallout 1+2, perhaps a spiritual successor to those games, a bit like Pillars of Eternity vis-a-vis Baldur's Gate (no other comparisons intended). I'd hazard a guess and say that it will be party-based and isometric. They are using Unreal Engine for the game and I have vague memory of reading somewhere that it is actually an open world game. Which would make it more like Vampire:Bloodlines. Sigh... not another open world :'( The only thing, which interests me now about the game is: Will it be available on GOG? -
RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS - CON SEASON
Mamoulian War replied to Blarghagh's topic in Computer and Console
Yeah... I'm gonna need a source on that. As far as I'm aware they simply forked the project and rebranded. It will take a while for them to transition away from the underlying architecture of the library and the game logic built around it. Ok, so I went ahead and read the Wikipedia articles about both Gamebryo and the Creation Engine. From what I gather Bethesda's fork isn't quite that old (< 10 years). Skyrim being the first Bethesda game using a (presumably) lightly modified version of it. So despite its issues I'd say Fallout 4 marked a clear step forward for the engine. Based on what Wikipedia says using it for Fallout 76 seems like it was just a bad idea as the concept of a single player apparently was a core assumption the engine made. I imagine just getting that to work on top of all the networking seems like it must have sucked up all the time of the engine team leaving other quite crucial changes behind, which could explain why, aside from the networking, the engine seems to have barely evolved since Fallout 4. The fact that they put all that effort in leads me to believe they're probably going to want to include some form of multiplayer in future Creation Engine games (TESVI co-op? Not certain how I feel about that), if not then this could have been a very expensive mistake. It would be easy to say they could have built a new engine in that period (I mean, teams have built engines in less time), but... How big is Bethesda's engine team? How talented are the people on there? How about the tooling around it? I mean, working on something you have vs building that same thing from scratch are quite a different ballpark. And of course, while building a new engine, you can't really use it to build anything... I think in-house Crystal Engine by Squeenix is big enough warning to every other big developer when the idea of making their own engine crosses mind of any of their managers -
IIRC, the original Belgium report stated, that physical CCGs are uncomparable to any form of digital lootboxes, because some kimd of odds or so. But I can't find the article right now.

I would understand if it was a third party license, but is there any reason why engines are not open source? It doesn't seem like a developer team whose engine isn't selling would keep it to themselves, specially when the result is a vibrant modding scene that will expand the longevity of the games and give them data on player behavior. Maybe the problem with Fallout 76 is that they didn't opened to the modder community; with that amount of user generated content and Bethesda moderating it, they could have had a better release. Although I do have an issue with moderation as it enforces values; I generally like to have a wider selection rather than a sanitized one. Because giving away things for free, would heavily interfere with player engagement and recirring monetization of live services why would you download your horse armor for free, if you can buy it for 5 bucks -
