If you read one of the other recent threads, you can keep them separated by interrupts. The guy who came up with it used multiple stacks of Concelhaut's Crushing Doom spell. When I watched Raven Darkholme's video (Victor Creed stream), he seemed to be doing it with Slicken later in the fight. You can talk to those guys.

The way Obs designed some higher level spells & abilities to replicate/replace lower-level ones makes me think that they actually intended for respecs to be part of the game. Also, when you have broken encounters -- like Writ of Sorcery not affecting the Cleansing (and perhaps other) Sigil -- I don't feel bad about it at all. Even with a respec it took me a long time to beat Sigilmaster on my Deathless Thaumaturge POTD solo build, 100% due to the Sigil and the Arcane Cleanse nature. Obviously you are entitled to you opinion/feelings on the matter and I'm not trying to invalidate them, just providing my perpective. I expect the Ooze fight to be so tedious I've been putting off doing it and am not sure I ever will.

I thought Obsidian already nerfed the Woedica spiritual weapon (claw) scaling with Monk fists and level? Or am I confused. The other benefit of Woedica is you get Writ of Sorcery which shuts down mobs from spellcasting in a pretty big AOE (if you have high INT) and for a decent duration - except it doesn't seem to work on Sigils or other item-type mobs.

if you're worried about Pen, have one Devoted at least go Estoc and everyone can eat Hot Razor Skewers. if you have a Devoted/Priest they can give +2 PEN with Champion's Boon (single target) as well. i think Estoc + modal + devoted puts you at 14 Pen, which is 16 after Hot Razor Skewers and 18 after Champion's Boon? factor in some AR debuffs as suggested above

For fun, I've now been trying Boerer's suggestion of a Warlock. I wanted to see if the increased casting speed and damage was worth giving up some survivability. It's a bit more on-the-edge than Priest/Wiz. Can't really do Furyshaper because the wards die too quickly on POTD solo. Have to be very careful timing Potion of Final Stand (duration increases with alchemy btw) and not getting dampered. Can stack some nice healing even with the nerfed Wall of Draining using high might, Dawnstar Blessing, Ahu Taka, and Bloodmage (before any other heal gear), plus Savage Defiance. Trying to time interrupts of Damper with the Barbarian upgraded shout (in a line) is a little nerve-wracking.

Something to consider is axe. Because there are 2 nice 2hd axes you can get if you want to go 2-hand at any time. The Amra axe you can get early and will provide a Frenzy buff. There's also a nice axe later from Seeker Slayer Survivor DLC that upgrades might inspirations - so you can get frenzy from Amra, switch to the Slayer's Claw axe, and your might inspiration becomes Tenacious with +2 PEN. Then you can always switch back to 1H and the buff stays for its duration.

I was not able to trigger Brilliant on myself with Missle strikes or Wall of Flame. Maybe it's been coded that way, or maybe it was just bad rolls ...lots and lots of bad rolls. I was finally able to beat the Sigilmaster boss. It had a lot less to do with Wall of Draining and a lot more with Blood Mage spell recovery. Something weird is going on (afaik) with the Sigil of Cleansing, as *sometimes* it rolled Misses in the combat log. Which at first I thought had to do with having Arcane Reflection up but I can't be sure, because I'm pretty sure I had it up and the Sigil still succeeded in casting Arcane Cleanse. I'll go back and check some more later, I suppose. Anyway, I was able to pull it off by swapping out most of my gear for healing over time gear. Ring of Greater Regen, Ring of Regen, Giftwrapper pet, Trollhide belt, Whiteleaf, and Lethandria's Devotion Shield (FYI the Nourishing Light enchant's heal scales with Arcana, so I respec'd - https://pillarsofeternity.gamepedia.com/Lethandria%27s_Devotion). This with priest heals, Bloodmage regen, Dawnstar 50% healing and Practiced Healer talent and Ahu Taka 15% healing, and some major healing scrolls (arcana again) helped me stay healed up while I took out the Sigil of Cleansing. While I lost my buffs when it cleansed me, at least I didn't die (staying healed). Then it was just the passive healing keeping me topped off (with Athletics and priest spells) until finally I could get Brilliant again after taking enough damage from the other sigils and boss. At that point, I just started spamming Salvation of Time on myself after casting BDD and other buffs, and throwing a Wall of Draining on any sigil that was up (they have low will). Slowly this way got my Brilliant buff and BDD buffs to over 100 seconds, and then started slowly taking out sigils and finally the boss. Brilliant kept letting me recast Salvation of Time which kept up Brilliant. Anyway, the whole thing took a while and was pretty annoying. But at least now this build has solo'd Belranga, Doru, and Sigilmaster. I still have to do the Ooze boss and I'll probably go back to my Tactician/Bloodmage for that (easier to get Brilliant and Unbending will help), though I likely will keep using the Lethandria's Devotion shield with high arcana to help me heal thru his damage. I guess I will stack Corrode AR items and that Cauldron Shard thing. I watched Raven's twitch on his fight and I'm not at all excited to do it. Might table it for a while.

v4.1.0 is now available on the Beta Branch

WTF "fixing" Wall of Draining when you haven't addressed the fact that Arcane Cleanse apparently cannot be resisted and has no visible to-hit roll against any kind of defense, so we can't at all see how to block it (and Arcane Reflection doesn't work). I think that's the whole point of Arcane Cleanse. It mirrors the D&D spell Mordenkainen's Disjunction, which irrevocably dispelled and even disenchanted items with no save (and had a 1% per level chance of even disenchanting an artifact, which could attract the attention of extraplanar beings). like Arcane Cleanse it was only available at max spell level, and as such *really* had to justify being powerful over the much lower level AL3 Dispel Magic erm I mean Arcane Suppression. Personally I think it would be great if Arcane Cleanse also at least blinked out or even disenchanted items, would make it ever more useful in high level fights. That's one downside of the per-encounter system versus the classic D&D style is that it's too afraid to make permanent or persistent changes to your characters. For me the biggest issue is that the tool-tip or mousing over the spell (Arcane Cleanse) doesn't give any clear insight into how it works or what it rolls against. I've had it Miss against me (it did yesterday) but even mousing over the combat log did not provide clear detalis on what it rolled against to Miss. I didn't even know Missing was possible for it before I saw the combat log. It would be helpful for Obsidian to actually comment which nobody from Obsidian officially has done. Plus, if they're going to keep it as 100% unresistable, at least some sort of telegraph or spell icon that makes is REALLY VISIBLE that Arcane Cleanse is being casted would be helpful. Maybe there is one for mobs, but afaik the Sigils at Sigilmaster have no such spell-casting icons. Plus in my testing the Sigils 100% resisted the effects of Writ of Sorcery (which should shut down all spell-casting) - it showed as being active on them, but the Cleansing sigil still kept casting Arcane Cleanse. Shenanigans. (The way it is today, the Cleansing Sigil turns active and with basically no lag seems to cast Damper or Cleanse). I have a similar issue with the Ooze megaboss attack that has Damper/Cleanse effect - maybe there is a really visible telegraph to it (like Doro's fireballs) but I haven't noticed it yet. -
I also need to find a way to self-generate Brilliant using Shroud of Phantom after being Cleansed, probably via self-damage (missiles, walls) if that still works. Otherwise I can't see how to clear Sigilmaster on a non-Tactician/Battlemage wizard.

I'm way more annoyed they didn't at least make Arcane Cleanse have a visible hit check so we can see what it rolls against (I had one "miss" me the other night with no details available) or be resistible.

WTF "fixing" Wall of Draining when you haven't addressed the fact that Arcane Cleanse apparently cannot be resisted and has no visible to-hit roll against any kind of defense, so we can't at all see how to block it (and Arcane Reflection doesn't work). At least give us that if you're nerfing Wall of Draining in a way that honestly makes no sense -- I mean, why can't I put 1 wall on a set of mobs over there, and another on the boss way over there? You're basically nerfing tactical use for an attempt to fix something that is only broken in some corner case builds in a single-player game where, if we want, we can console our stats (!). Some fix or info to Arcane Cleanse would at least balance this nerf. Also - the fix for current bug for Clear Out / Clean Sweep + AOE Weapon like Whispers of Endless Paths or Citzal's lance.... i think it's not just recovery, it's the fact that each AOE hits in its own AOE.... is that working as intended? -
I tried a variant of this build (Goldpact/Devoted, 2H) solo on POTD recently, with no-rest bonuses including 50% healing from Dawnstar's blessing and 15% from Footprints Ahu Taka (and I think 15% from Practiced Healer), plus Constant Recovery, and I was having a very tough time with the Fampyr Cave and the Flooded Cave. The Lich at Flooded Cave has a debuff to CON as well that massively dropped my CON - i was with Shark Soup food so it wasn't a CON affliction, I think it was a straight debuff (Eneverating Aura)? So I'm curious how people are finding it perform with higher content. I was even using Sanguine Great Sword and Abraham, and the healing wasn't necessarily enough to facetank the mobs in both places. Even in Flooded Cave I had trouble with the Lich 1v1.

Nemnok question

Do you get anything special from the dad's quest for saving the kid? I've never been able to save him so I always have to tell Dad the kid died.
