Ending bugged me
Theonlygarby replied to Osculim's topic in The Outer Worlds: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Yeah I think they pretty much do that with all their ending slides in games though... From what I remember new Vegas you essentially disappear, in pillars you return to your castle, deadfire you sail off into the sunset. My guess is that due to it all being "player choice" they want to be vague on what you do. It's a pretty small colony so I think it's safe to say you stay in contact with your friends.... They just don't give many details. Groundbreaker is an important hub so I'd think you'd see pavarti a decent amount. -

Well if you had a similar ending to mine, you pretty much become our glorious leader. Not much time for friends. I was more surprised by how good my ending was. New Vegas/POE always had a "you tried to do the right thing, but a bad thing happened instead.". In OW basically everything went as well as it could have. -
Great game, too short
Theonlygarby replied to BionicKitten's topic in The Outer Worlds: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Right and all the 0/10s are completely legit. Metacritic is hot garbage. It's people who dont like the game giving 0s and people who like it giving it 10s. I mean... The Xbox and PS4 are still around 84... So does that mean that console versions of the game are good and PC version is bad? A 0/10 should be a completely broken game. Not just "it's too short 0/10". -
Is a refund possible?

That's why I love non voiced protagonists... I mean I still make a straight white guy everytime but I'm glad others can make themselves too. -

True... I finished her quest though... I don't remember anything about her being gay though. -

I'm pretty sure when You ask him he says "it's not like that". When did Ellie do something gay? -

I mean it does have a "mature" rating. So that should have warned you it might be too much for you. Joking aside, this game doesn't push an agenda. Where are these sites? Vice had an article saying they "missed an opportunity" to delve deeper into LGBTQ issues. So if it's offending snowflakes on both sides... I'd say that's a good sign. Women aren't oppressed(anymore than anyone else) in this game. There is no homophobia(in the game) and the world is still ****ed up. So not sure where you are getting this agenda thing from. If anything the game says that even without prejudice people will be oppressed. -

I wonder if people would have been happier if it was a "straight love story". Something tells me that it is as much "I can't romance companions" as "the companions are gay". Also it would have been super awkward if they had said "we are going to have a gay companion love story". In summary. This is obviously a troll. Why would the obsidian forums be the place to get a refund. If you bought a movie you wouldn't go to Paramount studios to ask for a refund. -
10 hours in and....

I'm not sure how this will turn into an argument... But I'm confident that it will. -
Finished
Theonlygarby replied to sjb10104's topic in The Outer Worlds: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I must have tempered my expectations very well, because I haven't found Outer world's particularly short. Mind you, I am reading all the terminals and exhausting most of the dialog options. I must be at least 20 hours in and have just arrived at Byzantium. If you skip dialog and don't interact with your companions. Yes this game is short. Though if that's the way you want to play, this game may not be for you. Luckily there are a ton of games that are padded with endless fetch quests for you to sink your teeth into. No judging from me. -
Praise And QOL suggestions

Honestly the only thing that bothers me is the enemy AI... Early on I just walked up to marauders wondering if I could talk to them. They didn't notice me until I was literally close enough to talk... Even then it took a second for them to turn around. -
Really? By having maxed out intelligence in New Vegas I found I could pretty much be amazing at everything. I will agree though that people are giving this game a lot of love(more than I thought they would). Most likely because people are starving for a decent choice driven FPS RPG. I mean... What games in the last 5-10 years have even tried? I can't think of many.

Someone needs to get further in the game. At the beginning the skill checks are really low and easy. However, later on there are lots of locks and hacks I've been locked out of due to only having 50-60 skill points. Once you get to 50 you really do have to specialize . I will say that science/engineering/the other one are a waste of points so far. Would be nice if they were more common. I feel like people tend to compare this to "other games" without actually giving examples of games that do it better.

Third person would be cool. I more so meant not isometric than specifically first person. If they did pillars like dragon age where you can change the camera view between third and isometric id still count that as an isometric game(or at least a good compromise). But if it's a game that is just third person then the difference between that and first person is quite small.

Outer Worlds, a mediocre Fallout
Theonlygarby replied to Reffy's topic in The Outer Worlds: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Anyone who posts on an official forum for a game, saying that it's bad, is looking for a reaction. So in that sense, yes. Really depends on your definition of 'troll'. -

Well according to metacritic this game is either a 10/10 or a 0/10 -
Is every quest a fetch quest??
Theonlygarby replied to PUBG2055's topic in The Outer Worlds: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Time to beat this dying horse. If TOW only has fetch quests, then all RPGs are fetch quests. Dragon age Inquisition was way worse for quest variety. Collect 500 shards collect paintings, collect collect collect. The only part of inquisition that I think of as different is the masquerade party... Even that you have to collect secrets but at least it seemed to diverge from the straight forward quests the rest of the game had. This game isn't perfect. If you want to criticize the AI for being pretty bad. I'll take that point. Or the general length of the main story, yup got a point. Most negative reviews I've seen, really seem like they either played for an hour and quit, or they just watched an hour of a playthrough.
