Oh, nah, Skald isn't set. The only thing I really don't want to do is Multiclass (nothing against it ..even I figure there are better combos than pure class) The only reason I was going to pick Skald is because I'm primarily (if not always) going to use offensive invocations so the cost is overall cheaper with a nice chance to gain phrases with crits. I was looking at it as having no downsides plus I'll be in melee to cast my invocations. How does a Troubadour perform?

v3.0.0 is now available on the Beta Branch
XEternalXDreamsX replied to Cdiaz's question in Patch Beta Bugs and Support
Not just ranger, There are many classes need more 8 & 9 tier abilities. It is really nice they heard the community out about the Ranger. I'm sure they will do the same for other classes' that are lacking upper tier abilities. -
I'm sorry to bother everyone with such questions. I was wondering a few things. I will be running a pure Chanter. What upgrades does this weapon have that you would recommend and any of the upgrades mutually exclusive? If I am running a Skald single handed with this weapon, is it viable (with the natural ACC boost and One Handed Style) or would be better with a shield (not going to dual wield)? Again, I'm sorry if I come off ignorant but I'm currently theory crafting builds while playing PoE 1 until I begin Deadfire. P.S.- As a pure Skald, are their better alternatives via Two Handed? Or is dual wielding always the go to ...if so, any recommendations? By the way, I will not be running Path of the Damned.

I have done almost two playthroughs right now - both with level scaling: first one was on Veteran+crit path content scaling up only , and one (late game on hold due to bug which stops me from progressing the main quest in BoW) on PotD with scaling all up only. To be honest XP float compared to quest's difficulty is still an issue. I would recommend using it - things still feel to be pretty much designed to be around certain level. If it's better than without level scaling - I can't tell. I didn't sense much difference between two playthroughs - except 2nd one being less borken due to many balance patches which came online since. When does it become "boring" once you hit top tiers and play with those skills? It's nice to be able to use those abilities/talents sooner than the last few hours but how close to the end is a good point to hit max level/PL?

If they increase the level cap, does anyone think Multiclass still should be locked out of Tier 8 and 9? Just gaining PL for abilities? Possibly unlock Tier 8, but still have Tier 9 locked while adding one (or two) active and one (or two) passives to Tier 9 so Single Class can retain so kind of unique abilities? Or.. unlock both 8 and 9 Tier levels while single class have Tier 10 abilities unique to them? Or remain as it is now?

Any fluctuation of weapons between Tiers recently or are they pretty stable in their positions after any changes?

Eh? Unbroken: +1 engagement, +10 Penetration on disengagement attacks, Shield Mastery (+1 AR while wearing a shield), -10% stride, -15 reflex. That's 5(!) changes to the vanilla class. And not really minor ones. It's the fighter subclass that gets altered the most. I really wanted an ultimate tank. I thought an Unbroken single class Fighter would have been a beast for defenses with abilities to fire off DPS. The more I think of it.. Disengagement attacks are very situational while negative 10% stride isn't so bad. The engagement slot is fine until you get talents/abilities to fulfill the same thing or more. The negative Reflexes can be shored up like you and I talked about.. but a vanilla fighter would be able to improve it instead of just trying to get back to baseline. It feels like it's +1 AR with shield for -15 Reflex. Is 1 AR worth 15 Reflex? Of course, it seems like I'm just dissing the subclass but I'm going to run one anyway since you helped with a build and I love the flavor.

Usually, I play humans on my first playthrough. I was a human paladin and the RP factor was cool. My second character was more rational/stoic as an aumaua fighter with 21 Might starting with Two handed weapon. He was a beast with fighter talents. The high base damage from might and two handed sliced like butter.

At the end, does Eothas remove his chime and Berath's or just Berath's chime? Just Berath's. The design reasoning might be that the Watcher had no choice but to accept Berath's chime while the Watcher DID have a choice on whether or not to accept Rymrgand's chime. Well, more of a choice at least. Thanks, Zap. It does make sense that you'd keep the chime if you decided to go for it. Hmmm.. that might have consequences in the future. O_O

I agree. I think they should both have their strengths. Multiclasses have versatile line up of abilities. They can Multiclass to shore up starting defences, and focus on one class while just picking the other class abilities to supplement their build, ETC. Single classes reach power levels more quickly, and have PL 8 and 9 abilities, ETC. I'm sure there is more pros for each one but as far as I can tell, the PL 8 and 9 abilities/talents don't seem to make people stop and go.. "Do I really want to give up the chance/opportunity to multiclass?" What's the overall consensus on the forum via poll?

The Trials of Durance
XEternalXDreamsX replied to Karranthain's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
I've always wondered what kind of guy he was before all the crazy crap that went on in his life. I think I would not give a crap if I were him at the point I met him. It has definitely made him cynical and jaded.. Poor guy..
