  1. Agreed. I think ultimately Deadfire will make a pretty penny for Obsidian. It might not end up matching the first game but there is also the consoles release coming which will be a sales bump. I wonder how the console port will help with sales. I don't remember if they spoke about console ports for PoE but they announced it off the bat with Deadfire. Does that mean they sold at a profit for consoles last time. FYI - I will be preordering Deadfire on PS4 as soon as they get a date available. Either disc with all DLC like PoE Complete Edition (or season pass bundle on PSN). I plan on backing them if they do another PoE..If Microsoft would become their publisher, would they do another campaign or would Microsoft fund them? I think Paradox did a great job with the console port. Sadly, they didn't include Deadfire items for console because Versus Evil may not let or did they just give up on patching? Their Single Weapon talent is still Graze to Hit instead of Hit to Crit, lol.. I really hope they continue the series in the future. I know the team is still patching and releasing DLC so we are ahead of the game but they shouldn't wait too long after the development/life cycle of Deadfire is over.
  2. Sorry about that, those questions are kinda like thinking out loud. Lol. It seems Old Vailia does overlap with VTC, or would actually seem to go hand in hand. Raider has 12 [checks], and Slave has 9 [checks]. It really depends when it comes into play since Slave can be checked during the time on Crookspur and Seferan, perhaps then be light everywhere else? Hmmm. Also, Old Vailia only has 14 [checks] total.. it makes me wonder if any of those 14 are from Principi NPCs and not VTC. The Deadfire Raider sounds/screams Principi even though there are extremes. The Principi are natural raiders. Also, the checks for Raider might be what you are looking for as far as flavor. Just my opinion that it sounds better. For me, it would give me my only reason to pick Raider so I throw my lot in with Deadfire Raider.
  3. Do you know if the Principi NPCs react differently to a native Deadfire culture MC? If not, it might not be so bad especially since you could be "born" in Deadfire with Valian parents a part of the Principi in the past? Headcanon, of course. Old Valia gives you better options in dialogues and reactions from the Principi? If so, that combination might fill like a better fit without more headcanon.
  4. That's a good question on how early we can recruit him. I heard it is Level 14-15 content but I may be wrong. So, it would seem there's somewhat of barrier of how soon?
  5. Hey, Tick. What's the best way in your opinion to have Pallegina not really disgraced? Hmm..if you don't care about the Dyrwood, maybe follow her orders?
  6. She has three possible variations of a conversation when you ask how she's been doing. I think. In the case you're referring to, she got a huge reward /rewards from it and was promoted /assigned to a good duc. That's not exactly what she said but I'm going off memory. *But* it was definitely at the expense of the Dyrwood. What's interesting is if she followed orders and the Dyrwood was strengthened. I think she still was rewarded but it resulted in an all out war that sounds pretty ****ed up. It seems like someone "loses" no matter the choice. I heard the Watcher returns to the Dyrwood following the ending slides. Maybe it is best to save it if she acts the same either way aside from opening conversations.
  7. How does she react if she followed orders and Dyrwood wasn't strengthened? Anything memorable?
  8. After picking up the chanter and doing the early watcher quest, you turn in the quest then accept (purchase) to build the eastern barbican which upgrades instantly to had towards Defiance Bay. To add, this is the part of the game that I generally quit my character because I get so bogged down by it. Not because it is bad system, I just couldn't understand it and just was a BIG investment from the main story. I just cheese it nowadays. I just slowly take out all of Raedric's Hold to fund the building of the keep. I rest-scum (boring part, 0cp at Inn or once your Inn is built, I do it there) the time to build so when I head into Act 2, the keep is complete and a lot of money to spare as well. At that point, you get visitors that you go back to meet if you want. Some supplicants that you can pay off or have escort by a companion once you have more than five (both ways from menu, not returning to keep). Adventures for sidelined companions from your menu as well. So actually, you don't have to return to the keep really, even battles have auto resolve if something attacks your keep. I'm not saying you should do that but that's how I enjoy having a complete Keep with little reason to go back and forth before Act 2 even starts. I completely understand how you feel.
  9. I didn't vote but Kana has grown on me. First few playthroughs, I didn't keep him in my party after Endless Paths. Now, he is with me to the end.
  10. It's odd that Frenzy and Shout are considered "magical". I guess it falls under that category because it functions like other magical abilities, perhaps? If those Barbarian skills were not affected by the Mage Slayer, would it make it useable or overpowered (especially when mulitclassed)?
  11. I'm replaying PoE 1 atm. I forgot how much I liked Kana until now. She can't dig on Kana. He was a nice guy, albeit funny when stealthing, lol.
  12. Anyone figured out what triggers different outcomes? Does it have anything to do with PoE's quest to listen to Wael about burying the scroll? I'm returning to PoE 1 and thought it might affect the outcome.. perhaps.
  13. I think the animal companion even with all the buffs is pretty useless because it dies very quickly regardless (Based on veteran and potd gameplay) Ouch. Lol. Hopefully.. (like PoE1) by the end the cycle of patches, it will be at least decent.
  14. I'm sorry for this stupid question. How is the Animal Companion for Ranger in Deadfire compared to the original? In the original (after all patches), the Animal Companion was a nice off-tank/decent DPS after ALL the Animal's passives were taken. Is it as decent (or your opinion of the original) as the original PoE?
  15. I'm not dissing the Ranger. I enjoy it quite a lot. Deadfire videos and stat guides make me love it even more. It just feels like it doesn't fill a niche in a party that can't be outpaced by another class. I have to reserve my opinion until my computer comes in though so I may be wrong.
  16. As mentioned, those scenarios can happen when the difference between Acc (Accuracy of your attacks) and the corresponding save for said attack (generally 1 of the 4 saves) is greater than 99. This will mean all instances of said attack will already crit and additional Acc will not change this. Similarly, if the difference is too huge such that additional acc will still result in a difference of < -100, additional acc (which again assuming still keeps the acc low enough) will not help to make the attack qualify for graze. In these fringe cases, acc will not do anything unless the respective threshold can be crossed. But yes in a way, there is some diminishing returns if you compare the gains between a situation where an attack can still qualify for all 4 hit resolution states vs the extreme all crit or all miss situations. However, it is generally uncommon in a non-min/ax scenario. I haven't played Deadfire YET. I will though! ..I don't know the ends and outs of the PEN system. In PoE1, I always went with decently high Dex and Per with a lighter armor and loved it (on Ranger). When I ran with a lower Per, I noticed a difference off top. It doesn't play into the Ranger's strengths to have lower Per. I know it's neither here nor there because this is about Deadfire for this topic. Thanks for the explanation, Mosspit. I'm still learning and these type of conversations will help me once I'm knee deep in Deadfire.
  17. Accuracy does help overall. I don't actually have a video for it (Or stats to back percent. Ect) but once your accuracy is well above the enemies' AR, you will likely hit steadily. Doesn't it have potentially diminishing returns once it is really high(excluding level scaling, POTD)? Since Ranger has really good accuracy, wouldn't they be able to disperse stats differently and equipment?
  18. Yes and it shouldn't be buffing damage, but make the class more unique and give them "ranger" styled stats and skills. I mean right now anyone can do tracking and has survival skill and such. There is no reason or advantage to choose the ranger for being a ranger. I agree 100%. I think the only thing really unique is that you have a constant "summon" creature (by Ghostheart, actual summon minus Grief) that can be upgraded. I understand why, but they need to look at the Ranger himself/herself to actually to see what they can do to improve their role (personal talents, ect)
  19. I'm in love with Ranger class since playing it on PoE1 on the PS4. But.. I felt that they were underwhelming in comparison to other classes. It took a minute to get the Animal Companion up to speed via talents and the talents I wanted for range. After that, I'm pretty satisfied. I just have tell to myself that my Animal isn't a full fledged companion on par with the rest of the cast..plus investing into my animal is one of the reasons for playing a Ranger. I usually let my other party members do what they want while controlling my ranger and animal. I try to get the talents to stay active like the increased damage to same target, increased damage while under DOT, ect. I didn't play on PoTD, and on PS4, it already went thru all the patches before release so I didn't see the Ranger in the beginning. I haven't played Deadfire but I think I'd enjoy all the subclasses for one reason or another. I agree that they feel weaker overall and other classes pretty much cover any Ranger's bases better. If Ranger isn't your flavor of RP, it really doesn't stand out. I, of course, will play a Ranger but I just focus on my class. If I start thinking about "well, this class could've done this, ect" while playing, I usually stop that playthrough until I'm back in the mood. They should beef Ranger up. I'm not talking about just statistics or Bonded Grief. I'm thinking just a overview of the skills and what they could add or change to give them a better niche in the game.
  20. Hmm. Alright. Right now I'm looking at 20 Might 13 Con 6 Dexterity 18 Perception 18 Intellect 6 Resolve I want to keep Perception and Intellect at 18, but I suppose I could dump Might and Constitution down a bit to bump both Dexterity and Resolve up to 10. I don't know. My Perception and Intellect do offset the penalties to Reflex and Will considerably, though I get much less of a bonus. I might be wrong if it has changed but Barbarian/Rogue's starting stats were: 43 Base Health (+13 per level) 17 deflection 22 Fortitude 25 Reflex 17 Will Your current raw build: (without other variables would be) 13 Deflection 48 Fortitude 33 Reflex 25 Will Your build with normalized stats: 17 Deflection 32 Fortitude (Might: 15, CON: 10) 41 Reflex (DEX: 10, PER: 18) 33 Will (RES: 10, INT: 18) Bringing up Resolve and Dexterity removes: -action speed penalty -the negative deflection (the amount of a small shield) -the longer hostile duration effects -the negative Will and Reflex In exchange for: -12% added damage and healing compared to 20 Might. I'm not saying it is negative, just that percent less than your other build. Also, you lose the 15% extra base HP. You could do it either way. But Might would still give you +12% damage and healing instead of 22%. You could swing it either way. Overall, I'd rather start balanced and build upon my strengths without glaring holes in higher difficulties. To add, I'm not trying to deter you from dumping Dex and Res. There's plenty of passives to balance out your defences plus equipment to factor in. If you start with nothing under 10, you are boosting your defenses with passives and equipment without having to negate the maluses.
  21. I'd like for sharpshooter subclass to gain the Gunhawk subclass perks. To offset it, you could use Bond to summon your animal companion per encounter and suffer the grief debuff if it's knocked out. If you decide not to summon the animal, you would be an awesome sniper anyway. Both sides of the Ranger (pro pet or solo Ranger) would have a choice.
  22. Lmao. Awesome hat though. That's really sad that you can't wear it. Godlike can't wear headgear because a balance of their racial abilities? Or just the cosmetic restrictions? Possibly both? If it was just because cosmetic limitations, would you like to be to equip it without a change in appearance but obtain the statistics? Or do you believe it would generally not mesh well with majority of players' realism?
