RDC...w.t.f (Spoilers)
Verde replied to Verde's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
So it's still but the bar is mostly red. Also she glanced at me several times and then write me a letter...didn't leave tho! So I killed her in the boat. Consider Palli and Techu leave you for other offenses I was expecting her attack me when the fight started. Or leave when it was over. But nope, still bantering until I rested on the boat... -
Ok so this was quite the twist, RDC attacking me after trying to back out of the Queen assassination. BUT Maia doesn't even recognize I slaughtered the entire Brass Citadel! I can't take the bugs anymore, just can't. It's immersion killing to be running around after slaughtering an entire faction...with zero consequences. Oh and my rep is still a 3. I think I'm done for this playthrough and gonna take a break.

For some reason it's not Showing the last set of changes when I click on it? -
Hey all, thought I'd necro this thread to post about my progress the Mindstalker. Hopefully it's helpful and/or entertaining. Build is: Hearth Orlan Rogue/Soulblade Drifter Mechanics Insight Bluff Sleight of Hand Streetwise Mig- High Con- Low Dex- Medium Per- Highest Int- Medium Res - Low Key pieces of gear: Duskfall, Miscreant's Leathers, hat from Serafan, and the pistol Scoe--something's Trophy. I suggest crit and +Might gear. Your job is to cause damage and shred souls straight from their bodies. Soul Annihilation. Think of a Rogue Caster who opens up with an Empowered Shred spell, Debilitating Strike, or Pyschovampiric Shield. By now, Aloth or Serafan is casting some wretched Dception of DoT spell to set up Sneak Attacks. How kind of you gents. A staple of the build - Shadow Step - sends me across the battlefield towards their pesky mage. Oops, paralyzed. Snuck up on ya there buddy. And BOOM Soul Annihilation. With 20-21 Perception it rarely misses. May the Wheel guide what's left of you. Now I'm behind enemy lines and they are in big, big trouble. See, as an Adept Evader, AoE spells rarely hit. So moving around the cluster while Aloth and Fish boy hit em with nukes (I know Tekehu has foe-only AoEs), building up immense focus with every hit. Get into trouble, Shadow Step out. I'm building up 100+ Focus with ease, ready to volley up and annihilate my opponent into oblivion. Soul Annihilation combos perfectly with a damage class. Moreso burst than DPS. Picked Rogue as I didn't want to sacrifice durability (Assassin - also, admittedly, I like taking on foes headfirst) or Trickster (ugh that Sneak Attack penalty is brutal). If you do see yourself using stealth a lot I'd say Assassin/Soulblade is another solid choice, prob at the top of the single target damage list. Hope someone got something out of this, really enjoying the class. Cheers.

For example, there is a great shield for tanks/fighters that scales Deflection with Athletics (makes sense) and Spell reflection/Defense with...Metaphysics. I doubt many ppl initially specced their tank with Metaphysics, but it's a shield worth building around. Same with the Warbow that scales with Survival, perfect for a Ranger.

Verde replied to Galagraphia's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Elder opens up during his quest. I thought it was decent. Aloth even stood up for him! -

I'm not sure why you reiterated you didn't play one, because that essentially makes your opinion complete conjecture based on someone else's playthrough. I in fact played one, first as a single then multi with Fighter, to take advantage of being Flanked and Bloodied. With the new increase in difficulty it's just not as viable as single, because Rogues are squishy. The class itself offers no defensive benefits which is peculiar. As it is, it's a great multi with Fighter or Barb. But on it's own, it's not. It's not just about Constitution, it's about Deflection. So essentially you're building a Rogue like a tank and trying to crit all the time. Why not just multi? The entire pt of a Streetfighter is to get surrounded and hurt, which is the antithesis of a Rogue. And if you did your due diligence you would know that a Blunderbuss is almost required esp for a single who, as said earlier, is not tough enough to stand toe to toe and get flanked. Take the already slow recovery system and add +50% to it, and that's what you have without Powdered Burns.

Because at some point you need to release it...you will always have "stakeholders" you need to please. You can't keep putting it off if you made the commitment to your backers and fans. My only question is did they play through some of the sidequests? Because some have laughable continuity you could spot if you just went a slightly different route. Otherwise it's par for the RPG course...remember Witcher 2? The combat was crap until they released an official overhaul patch a year later. And entire year!
