The old game or the Enhanced Edition? The EE retains too many problems from original game for my taste but the new companions and their quests are still nice. The combat in the new content takes after the AI mods for the vanilla game, so it's much more enjoyable than vanilla combat. You should play with some of the more essential mods. They greatly improve the experience IMO. EE. Which mods are essential?

I just started BG2 again based on this thread. The voice acting is stellar. It's actually pretty good in Deadfire (minus the Gods) but BG2 takes it to another level. I'm actually glad not everything is voiced. I think Deadfire focused wayyy too much on it. However the graphics and animations are rough coming from Deadfire which is admittedly a very pretty game.

I think there is a diplomacy check. But the difficulty is actually obtaining the grimoires if you're not late game.

I think the whole point of the first game was to throw out the question so that we could answer that for ourselves. How can it be the whole pt of the first game when their true origins were revealed at the end? Do you prefer 2nd rate Greek Gods sitting around a table arguing? I sure don't. I hear you and I agree with you that it should have been the end of the discussion, but as one of Eder’s endings (and many people on this forum) will confirm, this isn’t the case. Some people will argue that powerful toaster is still a toaster (i.e. the source of the power is what matters). Some people will argue that a powerful toaster is still powerful (i.e. the existence of the power is what matters). It's a shame because the first game really had me thinking. Not so much the second.

Yeah, that's a challenge. You've got to come up with creative ways to justify actions that are somewhat metagame-necessary. Bringing unearned enlightenment to others is generally a no-no. But maybe you're doing so to serve a greater curiousity? If you view it as more of an exchange of information, that's probably OK, right? Perhaps you suspect that ingratiating yourself to the Circle will lead to the revelation of some bigger Secrets than what you may have found in those notes... That said, there are also some very satisfying opportunities to OBSCURE things properly. All of Aruihi's quests, for example, can be resolved with a lovely "Nothing to see here!" bluff. You've been a big help...but I just can't do it! I'm halfway through maxing Rational and Honest and I'm only 8 hrs in haha. It's a great subclass but I can't RP. I'm too honest ha. I think I'm going to do Berath. Has the RP element, subclass looks fun, and I heard it has a great Incarnate summon.

Siding with the Huana... ouch
Verde replied to M4xw0lf's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Did you do the Gullet missions? That was the entire theme. That the Huana should never be supported, supporting them is not good, and that their culture should be thrown into the trash bin? Yes, I couldn't agree more. You should play the game again. -

That is the most inapplicable statement I read in this forum for a long time. For example: against single targets Barbaric Retaliation is great. Againt mobs Heart of Fury is great. Instrument of Boundless Rage is powerful and adds a nice ranged alternative... and so on. A single class Barbarian will reach very powerful abilities a lot earlier than a multiclass one. E.g. Blood Thirst. He will also deal more damage with his Barbaric Blow because he will have a higher Power Level which adds base damage to its attack. Combined with MIG, Superb or even Legendary, Obe Stands Alone, maybe Blooded the difference is noticable. I personally find multiclass Barbs more interesting (I'm also playing a Warlock atm and it's great), but a single class one surely is powerful because of his great high level abilites, his faster progression and his higher PL. On the othr hand an advantage of a multiclass (besides the obvious reasons like synbergy effects) like Barb/Fighter, -/Rogue, -/Paladin, -/Monk or -/Ranger is that they can get +4 resource points from the Devil of Caroc Breastplate (Fighters even +2 additional from bracers) and +2 attribute points and skill points from the Chamaeleon Ring - while a single class Barb "only" gets +2/+1. If you don't plan to use those items it doesn't matter at all of course. You didn't even mention one of the top reasons to go single Barb - Retaliation

How can you guys defend the "Gods"? They are nothing more than caricatures. Their "powers" have never been remotely defined. Throw a moon. Crap on a ship. Blow up a Volcano. Oh ok, but you need me to follow Eothos while you do NOTHING. The Gods were done much better in POE as we didn't see them and therefore much was left to the imagination. Much like modern day religion. Obsidian side stepped the most important question - What is a God? Instead we got - Which shady and amoral faction do you support?

Any dialogue that made you laugh or cringe? I started a new game where Pallegina is a wandering homeless person...and in the first meeting at the Queen's palace, the VTV contact speaks like she is there...and has to be corrected. DID YOU SERIOUSLY NOT KNOW SHE WAS BANISHED? What kinda director are you lol?
