  1. I registered Planescape:Torment to get rid of the annoying registration popup, not realizing that after the third time of starting the game (Rule-Of-Three I guess), I could just type "123" in the first field and the registration popup would never appear again. Also registered Half-Life 2 and NHL2006 ... but that's it, I believe.

Yep and I'm stuck watching the Canucks. ... this regional coverage stuff has got to change. If I'm paying for satellite TV I should get to choose which games I want to see.... on a more positive note, kudos to Kaberle and McCabe. Nice to see the rest of the team step up with Sundin and Raycroft out.
  3. Ya got either a bad disk, maybe scratched or something ... or you got a bad drive. I get that cycle redundacy check from time to time, it means the drive can't read the disk.
  4. ^ Other than the cut content and the rushed feel of the game, one of the things i honestly didn't like about Kotor II was being forced to play characters other than the Exile for long stretches of time. There was only once instance in Kotor I where you played someone other than your character, and that was okay by me.... i wanted to play my own character and wasn't able to. I spent alot of time in the game making the character i wanted, and at times when i felt like i most wanted to play her i couldn't do it. It sucked, so I dunno, personally I'd like fewer instances where you play someone other than your character.

Sundin out 3-4 weeks ... on the plus side, the leafs play the bruins five times in the next little stretch.
  6. Recently I purchased a 250 Gb Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 SATA hard drive. My plan was to replace the 3 older, slower hard drives currently in my system with this one drive, and a net loss of only about 30 Gb of storage space (which I wouldn't miss). It's my first experience with SATA drives, but I'd spoken with a few knowledgeable friends and neighbours and they assured me that I should have no trouble (since they didn't). So... removed the three drives, connected the new one, powered up my PC, formatted the drive, and did a fresh install of windows xp. Everything was fine, everything went smoothly and I arrived at my desktop safe and sound. Changed a few settings around to get things the way I wanted, removed my xp CD and rebooted the PC. Immediately after reaching the Windows startup screen, I got a BSOD. I forget the exact error message but I believe it was a generic "make sure your drive is connected blah blah." kinda thing. Restarted the PC. On startup, the BIOS was still detecting my SATA drive, so I know it was connected properly. And yet every time the startup reached the Windows Screen... BSOD. I hooked up my old C: drive again, thankfully it hadn't been formatted yet, and went surfing for some explanation and possible solution. I discovered that: 1. in the BIOS settings, I had to change the onchip SATA controller from RAID (since I only had one drive) to Native Mode, which allows for only generic IDE drives to be used. This didn't make sense to me, but I went with it. 2. Make a floppy disk with RAID controller drivers on it from my motherboard CD, which I did with no troubles. 3. Re-install windows again, and when prompted to "hit f6 to install 3rd party RAID drivers", hit f6 and install from the floppy disk. Now, Windows setup will not detect my SATA drive unless the onchip SATA controller setting in my BIOS is set to RAID. That's problem number one. Problem number 2 is... windows setup will not read the 3rd party drivers from the floppy disk when it's supposed to. It says it cannot detect SiSRaid.sys (and three other files it needs) and if i choose to skip the install of these drivers, I'm back to the BSOD. Anyone experience this before, or have any ideas or workarounds? Apologies for the long post, but I wanted to give as much detail as I could. Motherboard is an ASUS P4S8X-MX.
  7. ^ 20+ characters?? ... since some of the characters in both games were lame and/or served no real practical purpose other than taking up space on the ebon hawk, fewer but better is the answer.
  8. Saw II. Thought the first one was much better, although the traps in the second one were pretty cool. Wonder if there really will be a Saw III. Before that I watched Happy Gilmore again.
  9. I say forget all this planet-hopping stuff. The first 2/3 of the game should take place entirely on Coruscant, with the last 1/3 composed of going to find Revan or the Exile or the true Sith or whoever.
  10. Right now, have 30 processes running, but that includes couple of IM programs and this webpage... so figure to have around 27 or so, when i'm not online. Thanks for providing that list of service up there... managed to close out a half dozen or so services i didn't need
  11. First movie I saw Danny Glover in, in a long time, was Saw. I kept expecting him to say, "I'm getting too old for this ****" at some point, and now I can't remember if he actually did, but I don't believe so.

YAY Nice to see the Leafs rebound against the Sens, something they've had a tough time doing in recent years... well, in the regular season.
  13. That was the best of the DS9 episodes. ..but other than that, I never really cared for the show, although I tried as well. Happy B-Day Star Trek.
  14. John Coffey wanted to die.
  15. That would depend on whether the war was being fought on Manaan. If not, there would be no reason for any Jedi to be there. If it was, then I would say no, any Jedi would not have survived.
  16. Just tried to get through Ju On:Grudge. Although the actresses in the movie were fairly cute and so held my interest for longer than the movie otherwise would have, I ended up fast-forwarding through about 60 minutes of the 92 minute movie. Afterwards, I looked it up at imdb.com and read an interesting review about how Japanese horror movies tend to establish an overall scary mood rather than resorting to more conventional western scare tactics. Chalk it up to cultural differences I guess, but I still didn't find it a good enough movie to watch all the way through. Also tried to watch Ultraviolet, but didn't make it through the first 30 minutes in that movie either. Needless to say it was a disappointing movie night
  17. Remember in episode 1, Obi Wan had his doubts about whether could be a Jedi, he pretty much agreed with the council's decision not to train him, and only took Anakin as his padawan after Qui Gonn Jinn's dying request. Don't know that Obi Wan ever had as much faith in Anakin as Luke or Padme or Qui-Gonn... at least not to begin with.
  18. Nothing wrong with improving technology though. Problem is when movies/games/shows forsake other things that make them good (characters, story, etc.) in order to solely show off the new technology.
  19. I dunno, maybe I'm just getting burned out on all the similar style/feel martial arts movies, but I liked the story of Flying Daggers better.
  20. Hero Not bad, but I liked House of Flying Daggers better, and Iron Monkey
  21. Episode 4. Started the whole thing, and my favourite memory of it is being six years old, standing with my family outside the theatre, in a line that went around the block, in the middle of winter, hoping to get tickets. We made it, and all I really remember of that first viewing is the opening scene when the Star Destroyer took forever to come into view... since then I can't count how many times I've seen the movie, and it hasn't lost any magic, even from being reduced to the small screen, and having Greedo shoot first. <_<

  23. thanks everyone for the replies. that's the stuff i was looking for.
  24. a new hard drive, a shorted out (and replaced) motherboard, a failed (and replaced) power supply later, and i've finally got some room to re-install some old favourites to carry me through until i start thinking about an upgrade in order to play NWN2. haven't played bg with tutu since its early days, and since i once again reformatted and re-installed my OS without copying all my favourites links, does anyone know where i can find the latest, or possibly final version of tutu, and possibly other interesting mods for the IE games?
