Jan Jansen probably would have made my top 15 list. His dialogues with Minsc were great. Almost great enough to make me want to play BG2 again. Almost. But since it's a top ten list, there's no room for the little people. Except Boo.

1. Dak'kon. Popular choice so far, but he's the most well-written NPCs I've come across. You have the look of one who has travelled far to be in this place. 2. Nordom. Voiced by the voice of Homer Simpson. 'nuff said. 3. Fall-From-Grace. Her faith in the Nameless One bumps her up to third place. 4. Morte. All attitude but with a heart of gold, if floating skulls can have hearts. He was always around to keep an eye on the Nameless One. 5. Annah. Fiery temper and, like Gorth said, the tail. 6. HK-47. Superior and disdainful attitude to all meatbags. 7. Minsc (and Boo). It's Minsc and Boo. 8. Jaheira. The romance in BG2 was cheesy, but I still liked her character. 9. Sulik. Most memorable of the FO2 companions, and since he was best with melee weapons (in my experience), he was least likely to kill you with "friendly fire". 10. Sarevok. Great idea for a recurring villain.

Did the Battle of Endor really change history?
mr insomniac replied to DAWUSS's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I think that if the Rebellion failed at Endor, Luke would have despaired, turned to the Dark Side, and killed Vader at Sidious' urging, becoming his new apprentice. After that, who knows. Eventually he probably would have killed Sidious too. -
Perhaps, I dunno. I never paid much attention to anything that came after Return Of The Jedi, at least until the KOTOR games, and one could argue they are well before ROTJ, I suppose. Putting aside anything else the article says about Windu, there is one quote he says to Obi-Wan, in the novelization of ROTS: "I created Vaapad to answer my weakness: it channels my own darkness into a weapon of the light."

I think it would be reasonable to assume that a Jedi master would be unable to learn a Sith lightsabre form (Or very unwilling) without becoming a Sith or Dark Jedi themselves, and since Mace Windu developed/started using Vaapad at a time when the sith had been gone for a thousand year there shouldn't have been anyone around to teach him that form anyway. The best explination for this is the simplest-its a coincidence. Vaapad was named (according to the book of Revenge of the Sith) after a lethal preditor on Windu's homeworld, it would be reasonable to assume that the Sith might name a lightsabre form after such a predator. So I'd say that both 'forms' of Vaapad just shared the same name, in the same way that 'Cannon' can mean both the main armament of a wooden sailing ship or a gun used on an aircraft. Wookiepedia On Windu. Lots of good stuff here on Mace Windu, and I believe this is all considered canon. In there, it says he created Vaapad, and that it is dangerous for a Jedi because to practice it one has to give in to their enjoyment of fighting... and further, that the only other two practicioners were driven insane by the form, and turned to the Dark Side.

Okay, thanks for the tip . Oddly enough, halflife is the first of my older games that i've had any trouble with... so far.

Having fond memories of games like Archon I&II, Adventure Construction Set, Mail Order Monsters, Bards Tale I-III, Heart of Africa, Hard Hat Mack, M.U.L.E., Marble Madness, Neuromancer, Racing Destruction Set, Skyfox, Realm of Impossibility (one of my all time favourite games) and Battlechess. They also published a game called Wasteland, which I unfortunately never found in a store I remember some of those titles! Racing Destruction Set was a blast. They should remake it with a modern engine, and M.U.L.E. too.

Still playing Halflife 2. Somewhere on the coast road, heading for Nova Prospekt. Was feeling nostalgic the other day so I re-installed Halflife. I dunno if it's my dual core rig or not, but ran into a few bugs during the opening sequence, and I've found the movement to be kinda clunky.

Leafs have signed Toskala to a 2 year contract extension, worth 8 million. Also, when reading about the Blake signing, I saw GM Ferguson said the Leafs done with free agent signings, but may explore other moves via trades. Interesting. I'm still wondering what they will do about their "own" free agents, specifically Peca and O'Neill, if anything.

Like thinking Hades will quit gaming forever? Seriously, I think it's an interesting topic as well. Reminds me of that quote from Men In Black. "A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it. Everything they've ever "known" has been proven to be wrong. A thousand years ago everybody knew as a fact, that the earth was the center of the universe. Five hundred years ago, everybody knew that the Earth was flat, and fifteen minutes ago, you knew that humans were alone on it. Imagine what you'll know tomorrow." Never hurts to keep an open mind about the things you read or hear about, or to challenge accepted "truths" if you can back up your claims.

I think the original poster is saying that in a crpg the world is flat, but with the illusion of being a sphere.

I'm not sure about that. Bethesda's brand isn't just money in the bank. Original IP's are always a risk. Buying the Fallout license ensures that a good deal of their advertising is already done for them. Gamers know Fallout, even if just by word of mouth. Sure, they'll tick some fans off, but the name recognition is worth more than a couple thousand angry fans. I agree with this. Bioware might have been able to pull it off, they've already branched out successfully with games that don't have "Baldur's Gate" in the title. Gamers would more easily accept a different Post-Apocalyptic game from them. Bethesda, perhaps not. The majority of their fanbase would probably have been crying for Elder Scrolls V, but since the new game has Fallout in the title, it's recognizable, it's exciting, it's all kinds of both positive and negative things to all kinds of gamers, and it will probably do very well, at least initially. I'll wait and find out how good (or bad) it is before I buy it, but I'm interested in it, and I barely played Morrowind and haven't touched Oblivion.

Just got home from work, so haven't been following the news all day. Was listening to the radio on the way home, and they were talking about Smyth going to Colorado. Apparently Montreal offered more money than the Avs, but Smyth wanted to return to the western conference. Very surprised about the Rangers. Kudos to 'em. They're gonna be even tougher to keep off the scoreboard now. My understanding was that Drury was leaning towards San Jose as his next home. Ah well, that's what makes the offseason interesting. Am excited, of course, about the Leafs. Hopefully Mats and Blake will have a good on-ice chemistry. Have been praying daily to the hockey gods that the Leafs stay healthy this coming season. I'll be increasing the mantra from five repetitions to ten now. And I wonder how much cap room they have left, especially as they want to sign Toskala to a long-term extension. EDIT: It appears Nylander has signed with the Oilers.

Happy Canada Day, fellow Canucks. I have to work today, but have the next three days off. It's gonna feel like a vacation, hEH.

TSN.ca's Free Agent Tracker. There you go. Some interesting developments already. Briere lands in Philly, Schneider in Anaheim, Rafalski in Detroit.

Classic. One of Clint's finest. Yep, agreed. One of my favourite movies of all time. EDIT: Oops. Just finished watching the LOTR Extended Edition movies over the past few days.

heh, no worries. I'm a Leafs fan, you know how it is. I'm hopeful he'll get in. His last few years in the league may count against him. But there's no denying what he helped accomplish in TO...and maybe they're forgetting he was part of Calgary's cup winner in '89.

Except that you're not in complete isolation. You're with 5 other people. There will also be radio contact with the outside world, on a 40 minute time delay.

i was going to try tonight. same problem with IWD, btw. text blocks that come up on the screen are ginormous black boxes with the text on the top. it is almost unbearable. taks I think I had the same problems with my IWD1, IWD2 and BG1 and it was fixed by changing the colour depth to 16 bit. I am not sure though and I cannot check it, cause for some strange reason my game won't start... (I have a gts 8800 graphic card and windows xp sp2) I hope that helped... I recently re-installed PS:T. i'm playing it in windowed mode, and before i started the game for the first time, i was told that certain spell effects, etc. would not display properly unless colour depth was changed from 32 bit to 16 bit.

Could you mention Superman in a Spiderman comic?

The negative comments are to be expected I guess. The Toronto fans that comment there seem to be of the opinion that the only thing wrong with their team last year was the goaltending of Raycroft despite going 38-something to tie for second place in the "most wins in a season" by a Toronto goalie. Sometimes Leafs fans are like Fallout fans. If the trade or the signing isn't exactly what they want, then it was a bad move. Hades would be a Leafs fan, I think. I'm a Leafs fan myself, and admittedly been under the delusion that my team was better than they actually were. I dunno much about Toskala, and less about Bell, but if they can stay healthy and help the team get into the playoffs, then it was a good trade. I understand the draft isn't particularly strong this year, and the Leafs have a bunch of young players already, so I'm not too bothered about giving up picks. Speaking of young players, they also re-signed Colaiacovo (spelling?) to a three year deal. Hopefully he will also stay healthy this year.

Right now, am about a third of the way through James Clavell's Shogun. I read it for the first time not long after seeing the miniseries, and that copy of the book was missing the front cover and the first chapter, plus a few pages.... and i kinda skimmed through alot of it. This time I'm taking my time and enjoying it more. Just finished reading The Christ Clone Trilogy by James BeauSeigneur, an entertaining and, for someone with a layman's knowledge of the Bible, thought-provoking take on the end times according to The Bible.
