1. Some of the stats work differently, also if you had done things in PoE 1 you could have bonus stats which skewed things a bit too much in your favour, on a game that many has already said is not difficult to begin with. 2. To be fair on them, ALL of their marketing material has been "Pirates! Pirates! Pirates! You're going to be a Pirate!" so they were very clear from the beginning what the game's setting would be. 4. It's a fantasy game, it was never about realism, I mean you've got people with fire on their face and plants on their face and all sorts of things.

1. tbh I like being reset to level 1, because had I remained level 12+ it would be too much too soon. 2. you can pretty much ignore all the sailing stuff. You are not really forced into it. You can even skip ship stuff to go directly into normal combat if you want 3. you can group journals by different categories, so I don't find that an issue 4. I agree it's easy, but that's not really a change from the first game? On less than PotD difficulty in the first game I also prioritized passive traits over active ones all the time.

Valian Dialect
CAlmond replied to Matteo89.b's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
personally the main thing I noticed is 'Aimico' which very much makes me think VTC are also partly mexicans -
Two minor bugs: 1. So if you convince Luca to overlook the contract, he gets fired and you can then recruit him. The problem is, after you recruit him once, he doesn't disappear, so now I have two Luca, can possibly get more except I don't want to try. 2. Tawenu's name is mispelled as 'Tawen' https://imgur.com/a/7yWpMHU

The most benevolent thing to do is let all your companions die honorably in combat and then use sidekicks and mercs from that point on I'm doing such a run right now, I created a custom history where basically I did all the good things, but all companions are dead and I plan on doing the same in PoE 2. I'll do their quests, then let them die. Personally I haven't finished the game or all the faction stuff, only some. But my opinion so far: 1. VTC predominantly selfish greedy merchants 2. Huana. They're village people who are trying to grow into a nation, but their systems and customs don't work on a large scale nation size matters. So their people suffers. 3. RDC, same as VTC, but a lot more militaristic and less mercantile 4. Principi, pirates, I mean nothing more to say really.

I'm down there at level 6 and (without spoiling) there is quite a difficult big creature somewhere... I really do not want to hurt my rep with the Principi by fighting through the Undercroft and most part of my team sucks at sneaking: any easy way to do so? I killed the big creature at level 6 with my party. Eventually I managed to get out without principi lost rep by sneaking one person through the pirates to talk to the pirate boss. Then they no longer turn hostile. -
yeah I'm not getting the option to use his OCD either. My PC's stats are: Perc 15, Int 16,Insight 9 Not getting that option either. I got all the options on my first playthrough, but not this one. I do think the other poster that mentioned you have to talk to Seduzo in the right order is probably right. Although I think that sounds more like a bug than a deliberate locking out of options. Because it doesn't make sense to lock the options out that way, how I handle Seduzo shouldn't have an impact on my conversation with Orron.

Can use tekehu, he has lots of heals and stuff. I'm definitely sure different parts of the relationship system/companion triggers are bugged. I mean both Maia and Tekehu started hitting on my PC like within 2-3 ingame hours of recruiting them. My reputation with them is still understandably zero, so I don't think that's normal? Unless that is deliberate and both of them are meant to be super horny.

Are you saying that if you don't choose to save him, he survives anyway??? chitupec is not the dwarf, and no, if you choose the crate, chitupec will be a spirit, not a living human. However I only just started this playthrough where I choose the crate over chitupec. It is possible something happens later, however as of this moment I believe he is dead and it is better to save him rather than the crate, because the contents of the crate is not worth it.

i got the conch from the temple first, then put it in the door and told dereo about it. I also got the bug where i was given the option to mention that I was ambushed by his follower when I wasn't (never even went to takano in the first place) However I went to takano later and was able to just grab the second conch from the chest in takano's house even though there are no dialogue options.

I would personally pick the cipher multiclass, because you only get a certain number of spells casts, meanwhile you generate focus all the time. And I feel like ciphers have a ton of debuffs that are really good at helping you kill enemies in melee. However I've actually never tried either combination, so I can't speak from experience.

Sigil of Nightmares
CAlmond replied to Melusina's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
never had an issue with those. Just attack using blunt damage. My issue is with the sigil of death, 4 hits and my guys die permanently XD -
Early Bows?
CAlmond replied to Ophiuchus's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
I'm trying to find both pistols and hunting bows. -
I did beat him with level 6s but it was a tough fight and I only succeeded on the 4th try, the main thing for me was to spread out except when doing an AoE heal. Use potions when abilities are gone. Use grenades/bombs when abilities are gone. In my final successful fight eder and xoti was both down, but we finally managed to kill it.

Old City Lift
CAlmond replied to aqeelus's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
haha i did the same thing, I didn't think he was serious about the time limit. I have no problems fighting the stuff down there, but I'm going to struggle to get out of this without rep loss with the principi -
I've been doing fine with ship battles, though I recently died to a ship that had not only double my hull, but also double my cannons. I feel like I had the superior tactics overall since I took that ship down to only 15 hull, but in the end it wasn't enough and my ship sank first. It's definitely not for everyone though, that's why there's an option to just charge in and get into normal battle

Right click is your friend. Agree about portraits. There are story related abilities. I'm pretty sure at least one of my abilities is a story one and I'm only level 5 or so. Fairly sure I got it from the story quest, not from levelling though. I'm not that far in myself, but so far I'm liking it more than PoE, because the thing I enjoy most about games like these is the random exploring and dithering around for no reason, which you can do plenty in PoE 2. It's the same reason I liked BGI more than BGII, because BGI has a bunch of maps that realistically you never have to actually go to, and yet they are there and there's random stuff there. I'm neutral towards the full voicing, I do personally read very quickly, but it doesn't bother me either that they're talking. I'm not a fan of overly sexual/innuendo laced dialogue because sometimes when I play, my nephew likes to watch and he's way too young to be exposed to innuendo. But I understand these are mainly pirates so it fits the setting. I haven't encountered any major bugs, although I've seen some minor ones. One thing that I disliked in PoE that is still a thing in PoE 2 is how your character's hair disappear when wearing certain headgear. But I know how difficult it would be to try and model all the different hair styles against all the different headgears, so it's more of a personal pet peeve rather than an actual issue.

I'm fine with what they did for PoE, also fine with what they did for PoE2, but my personal preference for unique armor/weapons is always I want them to be unique in terms of looks, but not stats. Because there are moments in most RPG games when I want my party to basically wear a uniform and look like some kind of military unit e.g. a group of knights.
