  1. Oh noes. I can't live without my physical copy of the game and especially can't play the game without it! Oh wait, I just finished my playthrough. By the way, your old school experience shouldn't involve a forum to whine about the issue and your game should come out on floppy disks. If you want to go old school, you should definately write an angry letter to Obsidian.
  2. It's looking quite fun in fact I just paid for the early access thingie! Shut up and take my money Obsidian!
  3. Still finishing up my Pillars of Eternity playthrough.
  4. Haven't seen my box yet or gotten any mail from Paradox.
  5. Indeed. I bet they went on a two month holiday right after fixing that issue, since it took so much effort to change it.
  6. So... idiots are taking over? I thought idiots were finally eradicated from this world. Apparently not.
  7. Wondering if this patch will remove the 2-3 wurms spawning on every single map and if there's a fix for Sagani's animal companion not showing up at all
  8. Actually it was 10 months or so. But still if they actually got paid something during that 10 months that 50k isn't enough.
  9. There are video game budgets as high as 300$ million, so what. Most of the time those are trash. Far better games have been made 15 or 20 years ago, with low funds, laughable staff count, and faulty game engines. Anyone with half a brain would know that. If you're guided by passion four million is a lot. Otherwise even 500$ million won't do you any good. Considering its budget PoE feels sub-par. I must have missed the class that teaches how enough passion will pay the bills. Damn you Finnish school system, you have failed me yet again. Sorry for being blunt but that's BS. I'll just say it again. Far better games have been made 15 or 20 years ago, with low funds, laughable staff count, and faulty game engines. So why cant they do it now? Because they're not guided by passion as much as before. People get older. Most of the high budget games are trash. (also has to do with focusing resources on graphics) Faulty game engine doesn't sound like solid programming to me. 15-20 years ago it was much easier to get your game released and it was far easier to come up with something that hadn't been done to death by 153 other gaming companies. Publishers were actually interested in publishing different games not just the AAA crapfest we get these days from most publishers. Guess what happened to most of those "passion driven" gaming companies? They died 15-20 years ago. Either they went bankrupt on their own, got bought *cough EA cough* and then were sentenced to death. But most of those companies are now dead and buried. No matter how great their games were, they died just like the rest. No publisher wanted anything do with a game like Baldur's Gate. Not a single one. Even 15 years ago creating Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale and Torment cost a lot of money. We are talking millions. You don't just create that kinda money out of thin air doing contract work here and there and keep your 160 staff members happy and paid. As far as I know Obsidian did do / are doing some contract work on the Russian MMO. It's stupid to say that people working on PoE don't have passion for making games. Actually it's beyond stupid, it's retarded. They work long hours to create something so others can enjoy what they've created. There are far more easier ways to make money for programmer than to work in a indie gaming company. Sometimes they work every day of the week. To say that people who work that hard, don't have passion is disrespectful. But then again, you don't seem like a guy who actually would know anything about respect.
  10. Of course, they *can* do it today as well. I have four words for you Obsidrones. Legend. of. Grimrock. 1. 4 man team. In a basement. Killer content. Killer graphics. Killer graphics? Oh ffs. I'm from Finland and even I won't go as far as calling the graphics killer. They had solid graphics which they then recycled a lot since they did not have the budget nor the time to actually make more.
  11. 50k? And where did you get that number? I'm quite certain I've seen bigger numbers being thrown around in Finnish gaming magazines. They didn't take Kickstarter money because of Finnish law, not because they didn't want to. Yes, they did contract work long enough to get the money to get started and then afaik they borrowed some money from Tekes etc. Finnish organisations to fund the rest. 50k isn't enough to pay wages, rent etc. for 4 people office in Finland.

  13. if I'm not mistaken, Feargus once went on record saying Obsidian burned through roughly 1 million USD each month. so, 4 million would only fund 4 months of development. everything else had to come out of their own pockets. I imagine this is why they have partnered up with Paradox, they need all the extra money they can get to keep the studio opened Wait, what? They said that thay didn't took a dime from Paradox. Are you saying that was another lie? Obsidian look worse and worse every day now. *sigh* The whole studio burns 1 million dollars per month. The whole studio wasn't/isn't working on Pillars. They have several projects. So that 4 million dollars lasted way longer than 4 months. Majority of their staff is working on Armored Warfare and other projects, so when they said they did not take any actual money from Paradox they pretty much meant it since they have other income as well.
  14. You poor thing. How can you sleep at night with such great injustice been done to you?
  15. You must live in the same fantasy world as the twitter person who originally started this ****storm if you think demanding for refunds will help in any way.
  16. These same people would be now whining in chorus with the #killallmen chick had they not changed that joke. Some people really don't need a reason to whine, ***** and moan. They will do it no matter what, because that's just how they are. Easily offended and with no sense of humor. Do you really think people who like to rage on ******ing twitter of all the things in the world really care if Obsidian actually changed the joke or not? They would do it no matter what, to make themselves feel a bit better about themselves and gain some Twitter followers to brag about. I seriously doubt Obsidian would change hanged women and babies getting killed, that's part of the game's mature theme. Stupid limerick about a foolish man wasn't.
  17. Really? Playing vidya is my principal source of amusement apart from reading. This game is rather pricey for a programmer working in a rather small company in Poland (prices are mostly converted to Euros and the course of Euro to zloty is astounding and rising). I have to choose one game to buy this month to keep me entertained after my duties. Especially after my beloved grandma has a stroke 3 weeks ago and is paralysed - which means I will support her financially in the future (her pension is ridiculously low, I live and work 500 kilometers away so I have to help hire someone to take care of her). So every eurocent counts. And I need entertainment what with the hard work, economic uncertainty, grandma's and my health problems (I'm on constant medication) and the looming crises near the borders of Poland (they are starting to call back army reservists this and next year, for God's sake, I'm one of them). And now tell me I shouldn't care about the fact that the game I planned a lather large portion of my precious salary to invest in can be changed and censored on a whim of some meddlesome careless easily offended person with enough Twitter following. She can invade my game made to entertain me and give me some respite from everyday problems and dangers, to be paid by me, and take stuff away. Just because she *doesn't like it*. She has to inject everyday politics (when I have newspapers in my country yelling every day about possible aggression from Russia, and nuclear bombers from both countries flying all over Europe) into my moment of respite, my escape into the make-believe. Tell me I'm entitled. Sounds to me like you have way bigger problems than a joke being taken out of the game, so really why are you getting so worked up over something so trivial in the larger scale of things? There's no flashing lights in the game reminding you of the joke that was removed. The only reason this thing is still an issue is because people tend to overreact to even the slightest things these days instead of just shrugging and moving on. I bet most of the people complaining about it didn't even notice it in the first place.
  18. They don't owe you **** in regards to an 2nd answer. The backer who made the joke actually got to make two good limericks. Yes, the 1st one can't be found in the game, but it was immortalized over Internet. It's out there and can't be ever taken out and then he got to make fun of those who got upset over his 1st joke with his 2nd limerick. The guy seems perfectly fine with the solution. It's his limerick, It's Obsidian's game. It's up to those two parties to come up with a solution and they came up with one. The way some of you react over this is like Obsidian removed your backer content from the game without asking about it. Stop being such entitled whiny little girls with your 1st world problems and grow a pair. The world won't end because of this and idiots will still overreact to things.
  19. I guess you are running a multimillion company as well then? Seeing how you would have handled it differently...
  20. I'm not quite sure which camp is stupider. Those that overreacted to the original joke or the camp that will now boycott all future Obsidian games and demand their money back because they changed the joke into something that actually makes fun of those who overreacted to the original joke. F****** drama queens and whiny little ***** the bunch of ya. But I guess that's gaming community.
  21. Lost my temper watching ice-hockey. The amount of bad calls and bad luck resulting in a pretty much last minute loss is devastating. Best player ejected from the game, 2nd best player gets hit by a puck weirdly in the leg and hobbles out of the game with out being able to put any weight on his leg. Only in ******* Oulu.
  22. I personally didn't find it offensive, but then again I'm not a transgender girl/male and just thought it was a stupid/pointless joke about a drunken fool. I did ask my transgender friend and she didn't quite like it. Even if it's offensive or not, I find all the raging over it being blown out of proportion. But I guess it's just so cool to rage over something over the Internet these days instead of just contacting the developer in quiet and asking them about it directly. She got her 15 minutes of fame at least out of it and bunch of new twitter friends/haters. *shrug*
