It's good to hear that at least some of the publishers are paying attention to old school rpgs being actually popular in some circles, enough popular for them to actually get intrested in publishing one that is.

For me it's a coin toss between FO:NV, MotB and Alpha Protocol. I'm still sad that there wasn't a sequel to AP or at least a DLC. Alpha Protocol had amazing reactivity. I enjoyed the writing, characters and the basic setting since a RPG set in "real world" is something we don't see that often. On top of all that, I really loved the conversation system. Fallout: New Vegas is still probably the only open world RPG I've actually enjoyed playing through. The world made sense especially when compared to FO3. Too bad that the Legion got axed so badly :/ Mask of the Betrayer for me is the only game in ages that did the whole romance thing correctly. It didn't feel forced, trivial or a feature that was added for the stupid journalists that keep asking "are there romances in the game?!" nor was it abusable by handing out endless trophies/items to her/him. The characters in the game are probably the 2nd best characters in any RPG I've played, only Torment has done it better. Overall the story was great and I really loved the ending. So far I've enjoyed every Obsidian game I've played, even DS3 as multiplayer and the only game that I haven't finished is SoZ since for some reason I skipped it back in the day and now it just feels so clunky when I try it.

Witcher 3, MGS: 5? (Or do you mean exclusives?) Haven't even finished the 1st Witcher and I've never played any of the MGS games.

Back in the day E3 actually had good games shown to the world for the 1st time. Now it's just generic shooter after another. Only Quantum Break had me intrested out of those games shown on MS's presentation.

Bethesda, such a nice company. I guess the US laws permit such actions, even though it just seems morally so damn wrong. I guess this is what some/one of ex-Obsidian staffers was hinting at a year ago...

Meh. Don't really care for ipod/ipad games.

Meanwhile in London: Beheading in broad daylight
Flouride replied to Morgoth's topic in Way Off-Topic
My sarcasm detector blew up I wouldn't say it's about race either. It's about them funneling free money from the goverment to buy them fancy new clothes and stuff without them ever working at all. It's about them commiting multiple crimes and thanks to the pretty lenient Finnish penal system not doing much time in prison at all, so they can start their criminal careers all over again. I just happen to dislike people who leech the society and commit crimes, just simple as that. Whether it's Finnish teen that get retirement benefits as the are "not fit" to work or someone from other nationality. -

Nothing against Muslims in general, just some/most of the somalians that end up in here. Though I'm quite sure they are not that much better in other countries when it comes to crimes commited by them and the actual good they might do for the society that they are part of. -
Obsidian to co-develop MMORPG Skyforge with Allods team

Ye, it's good to get a confirmation from Feargus that they ain't completely dropping AAA games. I think it's pretty safe to say their next gen game is one with it using Crytek engine. And he has a point, generally speaking it's bad a spot that most of the indie devs are in. And as consumers I think we are getting screwed as well. We get less AAA games, and most of them are just the same old game but a bit shinier than the previous version. At least there's plenty of indie games being released... Shame about Onyx getting scrapped though. But then again if they found it too time and resource consuming. When Feargus mentions they might work on parts of games I instantly thought they would work on DLC's for Fallout 4 / TES games. -

Don't forget importing their "families". They need their "families" to survive these harsh cold climates. -

PR wise doing another Kickstarter now would be bad.I think they need to prove themselves with the 1st one first and then do another Kickstarter. Especially since they really can't use Sawyer, Cain and Avellone marketing the next Kickstarter as well (not yet anyways) since they are busy working on Eternity. PR-wise doing another Kickstarter was hardly the end of the world for inXile. But then again their designers are mostly free to work on Torment. While Cain, Avellone, Ziets and Sawyer are still quite busy with Eternity. Both Fargo and Feargus were/are pretty careful when it comes to Kickstarter. Fargo had his whole defence mode all ready on when he announced Torment (why is he asking money again when Wasteland 2 is not out) and I think Feargus said earlier that they wouldn't start a 2nd Kickstarter before Eternity is out. And seeing how busy Obsidian seems to be with the next gen game, South Park, Wheel of Time (yes, I know there's no work being done but people still think they are actually working on it), this MMO and Eternity the whole Fargo's "defence mode" about how they need to start pre-production early for the new project might not work when your average customer sees you are already working on a bunch of games. Not to mention it hasn't been that long since they asked money for Eternity, Fargo/InXile had a longer period before the 2 Kickstarters. I personally wouldn't mind donating more money on anything that the owners/project directors deem worthy of putting out there on Kickstarter. I would have more games actually to wait for, now it seems like there's only a handful of games I'm excited about and most of them are indie/Kickstarter projects. And yes, I'm aware there's more than 4 designers at Obsidian, but I just think those 4 or 3 if you don't count Ziets are the most marketable names at the company currently. -

Would like to know how exactly they are getting involved. But if I have to guess it's mostly just some minor work to keep some of the staff busy without them having to lay off anyone. -
It's sad that people lost their jobs, but on the other hand I don't think LucasArts has been releasing much lately. Back in the day, they were clearly one of the best developers/publishers out there. Hopefully this means we will finally see more (and better) Star Wars games, but after I've said that I'm expecting EA to get the license and run it to the ground with day 1 DLC's and yearly releases/updates to the games.

Makes me wonder why a company like Paradox won't just sign Obsidian to make a old school rpg on a 3-5 million budget when there's so much demand for these games. Guess I'll have to donate something, bit short on money atm.

Obsidian currently working on next-gen console title
Flouride replied to funcroc's topic in Obsidian General
I'm not seeing many publishers willing to sign PC only for a South Park-sized project, tbh, though the PC market is a lot healthier and getting a lot of attention, and I can see Obsidian getting the chance to do more stuff that previously might not have been as financially viable. True, but stranger things have happened But on a more serious note. I'm thinking (okay throwing a wild guess) that this new project is Deus Ex: Human Defiance. Some finnish site is reporting that both the internal teams at Eidos Montreal are working on something else, so who would Square-Enix turn to make a sequel(?) to their hit game... Would also make some sense why team was buying blueprints Hmmh.. Didn't someone from Obsidian tweet last year that they were visiting Eidos Montreal? Or maybe I remember wrong. Or Deus Ex: Human Defiance will be Deus Ex the Movie and this is something completely different which is quite possible. I think Josh and Feargus were visiting Eidos Montreal. -

No, just no. It has been said multiple times, Red Eagle Games/Entertainment can't come up with the funding. So do not expect Wheel of Time game anytime soon. -
Well that is good news. Welcome back Jim
