  1. Do we know if Sawyer is the lead designer (or the lead systems designer)? I can entertain notions of this game actually being enjoyable to play when we figure out that. Josh is working on Project Louisiana which is most likely PoE 2.
  2. How come everyone is so sure the IP will belong to Paradox? It say so in http://www.tyrannygame.com/ if you scroll bottom of the page Tyranny™ is a trademark of Paradox Interactive. All rights reserved. 2016 Paradox Interactive But doesn't that mean that they just own the rights to the game (as they are the publisher, that's pretty much given), not the actual IP, the setting and possible sequels. There could be clauses in the contract that revert all rights back to Obsidian after number of years or if Paradox isn't interested in funding a sequel with a certain timelimit. Etc.
  3. How come everyone is so sure the IP will belong to Paradox? It's a safe assumption, given where the forums are, who is pushing the announcements, etc. Obsidian does not have a long history of owning or leasing IP's, they typically are brought in by a publisher to develop a project and they are paid for that. Less risk and less reward. Typically yes, but in this case it's something they've created from scratch. Typically they are doing work on sequels to other's IPs with the sole exception of Alpha Protocol and Pillars of Eternity.
  4. The evil won would be really hard to fit into the PoE lore even if set in different time. It's much easier to come up with a new setting than fit this into the PoE mold. And it gives them chance to do different things with magic and other rule systems as well. Also, since they are most likely making PoE2 by now, releasing only games into the Pillars of Eternity setting would be risky and shortsighted, when they've got the chance to broaden their portfolio and maybe (depending on the deal) get to create a new IP and setting to release future games in. Not to mention, not everyone liked Pillars of Eternity, whether it was the setting or the rule system/gameplay, creating very similar game to PoE would not cater to those (especially when they've got that all ready covered with PoE2) potential customers.
  5. How come everyone is so sure the IP will belong to Paradox?
  6. That would be either Project Director with Lead Designer/Lead Systems Designer depending on the project and personnel involved. Josh has seemed pretty hands on when it comes to rule systems as project director (as an example). Matt MacLean has had previous experience in such role on South Park, Alpha Protocol and Dungeon Siege 3. So he might be the lead on this game as well. On PoE he "only" did some additional writing and narrative design. (Source: Mobygames) So he should/could be free for this project in larger role.
  7. Since funcroc was apparently assasinated by Feargus, someone else has to pick up the slack and come up with everyone who is working on this game. Anthony Davis confirmed few of people working on the game (outside the few we already know of): Brian Heins - Project Director Matt Singh - Lead Producer Tim Cain - Programmer Dan Spitzley - Programmer Constant Gaw - Lead level designer Brian Menze - Lead Artist From LinkedIn: Paul Kirsch - Narrative Designer Dini McMurry - Level Designer Maybe: Kathryn Megan Starks - Narrative Designer on unannounced project Matt MacLean - Designer on Unannounced Project (could be PoE2) That's all I could find out with my basic version of LinkedIn, not sure if it shows everyone's profile fully.
  8. Oh, hell no. That engine is just way too old for anything useful
  9. Too bad the game rights are still held hostage by Little Orbit. They have been working on the game like forever.
  10. Maybe because knowledge is power? Keeping the people in the dark should help Kyros to keep his underlings stupid and clueless on how much better things were before he took control etc.
  11. So a mishmash of their experiences with populations and production from Victoria, city/province management from Crusader Kings and differentiating government traits from Europa Universalis.... Interesting. Probably extremely unbalanced in multiplayer however, until at least the first expansions major patch, judging by past releases And after that virtually unplayable due to bloat of features and small expansions. Heh, I'm already looking forward to wasting hundreds of hours on it. It does look really interesting game though and a potential huge time sink if it's well done. As always with Paradox the DLC's and future sequels will only enhance the experience.. and I still haven't managed to finish my CK2 playthrough.
  12. I am pretty sure that they don't use PoE setting, as one it is world where Evil has won (and PoE/Eora is setting where everything is nuanced) and two they didn't use PoE in their trailer anyway which indicates they don't want people link these two games to belong in same setting. So it seems to be new IP with new setting. This. At best it could be set in the same universe like Brandon Sanderson's books are set in the same "Cosmere". So if they someday decide to have the great citizens of Eora to come up with ways to discover new planets they could travel to the world of Tyranny.
  13. I would imagine there's the good path and the evil path. You can't really make a good game with this premise if you don't allow the player to be either good or evil. Too bad we have to wait a week for the embargo to be lifted
  14. By developer you mean designer? Project Director is Brian Heins at least.
  15. Finally and if the release date is actually 2016, not much of a wait The camera angle reminds me more about Fallout and Torment than PoE&BG. The setting seems interesting and hopefully there are multiple ways to finish the game as the theme of the game definately creates a great way to play it in multiple ways. Overthrowing the bad guy and becoming the emperor yourself, just doing his bidding, playing the game as someone good etc. Graphics are on the same level with other Unity games and I'm not worried about that. The game will be "judged" by it's gameplay and story. I Imagine the team about the same size as PoE team was. Now all we need is for funcroc no appear and tell us which devs are working on this game.
  16. How about Matt Festa?
  17. And what time is that in European time? :D
  18. I definately agree with Eric's remarks on shorter games. I don't have time to replay games that take 50-80 hours to finish. I work and I have other hobbies and games to play as well. Putting 160 hours into just one game just doesn't work for me. I've only fully replayed two of Obsidians's games and those are Alpha Protocol and Dungeon Siege 3, mainly because those games didn't take forever to finish. And in Alpha Protocol's case because the game had great reactivity to what I did in the game. So, yes. I would rather get more polished games with great reactivity (c&c) than one big epic adventure that takes forever to beat. While I definately loved Baldur's Gate 2 for it's epicness, I never finished it again.
  19. I played it a bit with a friend, and even then I've found it to be extremely unenjoyable. It's one of the games where I really thought not even a price tag of 2€ is worth it. As a single player and unmodded it was soul crushing experience. But once I got into co-op mode with my cousin and we modded it a bit so the zombies didn't take 10 hits to kill it did get fun. We did try Dead Island: Riptide decided to **** it. Even at 10 euros pricetag we felt that the game was just bad. Granted there were no mods for it, but the map design alone was just so damn bad we tried it again after the first time. The problem with zombie shooters is that get really repeative and fast.
  20. Played some Armored Warfare for a change, due to the special event this week. It's still quite fun, though the lack of credits it's getting annoying as I can't afford to open up new tanks. Also been trying to finish up old games that I've bought years ago from Steam sales, so been playing Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War: Dark Crusade. Still have the Soulstorm addon to finish up after this one.. Tried out The Division beta, don't really know what to make of it yet. Oh and plaeyd White March part 2 as well, well a little. Also the next DLC for Cities:Skylines came out so I need to give that a go as well, just don't know where I can find the time for that as well.
  21. Finished both Dying Light and 12 is better than 6. Dying Light was decent, their efforts in writing comedic characters just failed badly and the game got a bit boring towards the end. 12 is better than 6 is a indie shooting game like Hotline Miami. Got really damn boring after a while and the actual plot was quite short and not that great. Now playing Dungeon of the Endless with my cousin and my Sunless Sea playthrough is still on some midpoint hiatus. Just too much to do and kinda losing focus on what I should really do and in what order
  22. Finishing up Dying Light and started playing Sunless Sea.
  23. What sort of keyboard has the "w" and "f" keys so close to one another? And I guess that after the states and territories, they could start using capitals and cities? My laptop clearly has them way too close!
  24. The nation will just have to annex new territories. Befare Canada and Mexico!
