  1. Elves, orcs, and dragons are elements of medieval fantasy. Fantasy, in using this style of definition, is swords and sorcery. Now you're just splitting hairs. Actually, I think Tale is some kind of rabbit. hyperkinetic lagomorph
  2. I definitely enjoyed JE's story. I would mirror many of the criticisms about the combat system from reviewers, it occasionally felt cumbersome. Like many other men, though, I'm considering playing a second time through, this time as a female, just to see if I can encourage any girl - girl romance.
  3. I've come to wonder lately. Do we ever hear of Jedi being referred to as light side in the movies? I just find it awkward that they're the ones supposedly going for a balance, yet popular (and even EU) opinion has them iconicly light simply to be a polar opposite of the dark side sith. It definitely seems consistent with their attitudes. Jedi are reserved and mindful, not controlled by emotion, where as the dark side is fear, anger, and hate. Diametrically the light side would be one of love and joy. The Jedi ARE the grey side!

Personally, I think it's pro-Green party. If nothing it's about political corruption and the need for reform.

Talk about reading too much into a movie. Miller saw the movie The 300 Spartans and felt inspired. Lesbianism, whores, the whole congress issue, aren't even part of the work written by Miller, but are added by the screenwriters to help extend the length. All Miller intended was to create an artistic representation of the 300 men who sacrificed their lives to delay the Persians.

  7. I loved the Prestige. I can't rave about it, enough. I just rewatched The Fifth Element and Team America World Police. The Fifth Element: Still love it after a decade. It's funny hearing that it was critically panned at Cannes, when I see how much fandom there is for it. Team America World Police: Puppets...having...sex. They're not even anatomically correct, either.
  8. I take no pride in welcoming you to the club. I know several people in the same position, me included. :/ I WILL finish it one day, though. Maybe not soon.

The only thing that is a new concept is preaching freedoms while systematically taking them away. How is that even remotely new?
  10. I still don't have Defcon. I suck at strategy games. About the only thing I particularly enjoy in them is building up my own base.

"Freedom isn't free, it has a hefty ****in' fee." "Freedom costs a buck 'o five."
  12. If you like Defcon, check out Darwinia and Uplink. Different genres, but from the same company. For some reason Uplink makes me wish I had a laptop. There's something about it that begs to be played on the go.
  13. Granted my field is psychology, not sociology, I have no clue how you would do this or even, more importantly, why.
  14. I was trying to play fallout, until I realized I designed a ranged character that can't use a gun larger than a 9mm. He has a bit of a trouble with that thar Deathclaw.
  15. Yeah, he profits through a german law designed to aid the german movie industry. If it bombs, he still profits! I think I read they're considering changing it, or maybe they have already.
  16. She was robbed in the movie.
  17. I'm trying to play Galactic Civilizations II: Dark Avatar. But, something about controlling 90% of the largest size galaxy makes the game crash when you move to go after that last little 10% you've been at war with for the entire game.

  19. Yeah, the sun expanding doesn't completely envelop the earth. It only gives it a nice scorching. Totally surviveable. I love that aspect of the Final Fantasy games. It's very much on par with things like Dragon Ball Z where people throw around world destroying powers left and right only to scratch each other and say "ugh."

Yes, and the US was putting forth that "all men are created equal" while they still had slaves. Generally, when people talk about doing things for freedom, they mean "my freedom." The Spartans did fight for Freedom, not in general, just from Persia.
  21. That description... I feel like I've already seen this movie. A billion times.

Considering the only reference to it in the comic was using it as a verbal insult "boy lover", I don't think we'll be seeing anything.
  23. This claim is illogical. It ignores brand loyalty and word of mouth. To think people behave logically is illogical. But, then again, Phantom Menace had greater domestic earnings than either of the two to follow it. Heck, if you want to claim that two bad movies can "logically" ruin a third movie, then you have to accept by the same logic that three good movies can "logically" make a success of two bad movies.
  24. It says no such thing. It says that lots of people enjoyed the third part.
  25. I used to go because it felt like I was helping the game industry shopping as game speciality shops. Then, it became too often me coming in, them asking if I had a pre-order, me saying no, them saying too bad. So, I went to Best Buy where they would have a stack of the game. Eventually I just cut out the extra steps. Then there was that whole "trying to sell me already opened games as new" thing they did 2 or 3 times.
