But Starcraft >> WH40K Starcraft takes itself seriously. WH40K > Starcraft Sense of humor > Serious business

I've tried replaying Longest Journey. It goes a looooot slower than I remember. And it's forever before you get the hilarious sidekick.

Depends. When he examines them, does he find a shot that went in and out?

Wait, is this the previously leaked behind closed doors gameplay?

Still Dorfing in the fortress. This one hasn't been destroyed by a goblin ambush yet, but I expect the first to occur today. I hope I'm prepared. RAISE BRIDGES Just need to make sure the moat is ready. The guy who likes to fish outside is probably going to die. Maybe I should reel him in and just assume they're waiting for the chance to strike. After this fort dies, I'm building a sky fort.

What did I do wrong oh dwarfy gods? Was it the lack of armor? They had weapons, I think... They definitely had training! A single ambush crushed EVERYONE. The flood entrance was a failure due to bad timing. I think it killed more of my military than the enemy. I guess I'll go with the standard drawbridge routine. LAAAAME And maybe I'll get my outside area set up before the ambushes. I was halfway done!

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS THREAD!, just a dumping ground

I imagine that siezing profits (which are future profits at this point) is a lot harder. You basically have to repeatedly check in to get them. Seizing the inventory can be done up front and you no longer have to deal with them. -
Fantasy ME? Isn't that redundant? Sorry, sorry. That's just my bitterness at Space Opera. I'll skulk away now.

I now want to build a sky fort in DF. Build a high tower that leads to a base on which I build a new fort high in the sky. That way, if I ever get particularly bored, I can just mine away the base of the tower and watch it all fall.

He got Urist McDwarf (Dwarf Fortress) pretty quickly.

They're not removing overhead from PC. Just consoles won't have it. Heck, look at Bos_Hybrid's post. They're working to keep tactical view for the PC. And were working on camera angles specifically for it.
-
They're not treating the PC version any way in particular. They're treating all versions. The worst you can say is that they're trying to make it more like Mass Effect, which reflects on the better reception of Mass Effect. Not poor sales of DAO's PC version.
-
Can you cite a source for it selling 'poorly?' As opposed to simply it not selling as well as the console versions.

It's not sandbox, though. I seem to recall mkreku is a gigantic fan of Gothic.

Dwarf Fortress Lost one fortress early Saturday to Goblin ambushes. I hadn't fully figured out the military and trainig, so when I did send them out to defend the fort they were promptly slaughtered. And since my farms wouldn't work for some reason I was always running low on food and drink. I actually ended up trapping 3 people outside the fort and 1 goblin inside on that game. I tried recovering from it but the second ambush stole a child and killed the remaining two. My Fort started right after that seems to be doing better. Military is training, the farms are working. I've only got two miners and we're clearing tons of crap out. Going to set up one level about 5 down from the entrace as a secondary storage. Then right below that I'm expanding work facilities and am going to move most of the fort deeper. My chief medical dwarf is currently possessed. He wants bone and metal bars. I gave him all the bone I have and he's never gone after my bronze bars. I think he wants more bone. Number 1 priority is finding a use for all this excess stone. So it's crafts and blocks. Blocks for an outside wall so I can start up the outside fort, including a new training area. Crafts to obviously trade with caravans. The previous fort did let me try out my entrance plan. My last three forts (these two included) all ramp down into an area where I put my trade depot. Then they ramp up again to go to my fort. The trade depot area happens to be on the same Z-level as the nearest water source. See where I'm going with this? It worked wonderfully while it lasted on the first failure of the weekend. It killed all Goblins but the two who made it in before it flooded. I've made a new change to the design today to put a large area underneath the floodable entrance so I can drain the water somewhere. This should make it easier to recover from it without digging new (vulnerable) entrances to actually let Dwarves in and out.

I'm currently on a sci-fi kick. I'm sick of futurist games that are nothing but space opera or fantasy IN SPACE. Where's my scientific basis, slower than light travel, invisible lasers, and non-human aliens? Instead it's all psychic powers, FTL, fanwank about how the lasers are actually plasma, and sexy aliens. I consider myself lucky when they're not using swords. I'd settle for modern games, though.

They look good to me.

Company of Heroes is pure awesome, Red Faction: Guerrilla is a really fun and unique romp and Saints Row 2 is pants on head crazy in a good way. Other stuff is so-so or crap(or Titan Quest). I already have Guerilla (free from a promotion with Darksiders). What's so good about Saints Row 2? I'm kind of sick of GTA sandbox games. Do you have an opinion on DoW 2 and Metro 2033?

I liked Fallout 3. But not enough to buy any DLC. I actually considered getting the DLC not that long ago, but since I couldn't find it in myself to bother completing a second playthrough, I felt it was a bad idea.

I'm thinking of picking up the THQ pack over Steam. It's $10 more than just buying Dawn of War II Gold and Metro 2033, the two games I particularly want. But I'll also get a bunch of other games I might like. Any opinions on the games in the pack?

I've slipped back into TF2. I don't know why. I'm supposed to be doing Starcraft 2. Or my The Darkness replay. Or a KOTOR 1 & 2 replay. But no, it's Team Fortress 2. All over again.

We knew that much.

How do you think consciousness and energy are related, if at all?
Tale replied to a topic in Way Off-Topic
The sense of "presence" demonstrated on the show was only extra-sensory perception in that it was perception engaged by non-sensory means. In that way, I find the ESP to be a little broad. Such as UFO, is someone talking about alien spacecraft or simply something in the sky they haven't identified? We typically don't think of hallucinations as extra-sensory perception, but it's pretty similar. -
only it's not a strategic game Considering Dragon Age was created (or at least heavily hyped) as a throwback to Baldur's Gate 2, where Baldur's Gate 2 was expliticly an RTS/RPG hybrid, I'd say that it is. I'll concede the point if you're saying that it's not if they don't want it to be.

Thanks Mikhail.
