  1. My experiences with 4e have taught me that most of the design for PnP RPGs is blatantly archaic and the players are too blind to realize it. Case in point is a particularly stupid houserule that I experienced in my 4e game. Critical failures. No matter whatever you do, you have a 5% chance of flailing about like a complete idiot. It's archaic, it's stupid, yet a number of PnP players seem to love it. And what's worse is that numerous PnP games have nonsense like that in their core rules. Even if it's just toned down to "you're not flailing like an idiot, but you are useless right now, so go get a soda and watch some TV." Makes me appreciate the structured design of 4e all the more. Where they're not just tacking on every little silly rule they can get a hold of.
  2. Interestingly, when it diverted from space battles is when it got its time slot moved and rumors started floating around about the series being cancelled early. The character driven soap opera junk nearly killed the series. They feel like filler. Which, considering most of season 2.5 and 3 were that.
  3. They did the first one that they did Of course they did the first one they did. But they also made the most recent one off the Requiem movie license.
  4. The last AvP game made by Rebellion I didn't hear overly good things about.
  5. The enemies didn't get dumbed down at all. I find them taking cover far more often than previous, as well as more useage of grenades. And the camo guys in this one are actually lethal. In FEAR, they were just punching practice. And the ghosts that attack, they're harder to see and there is no more auto slow mo while fighting them. Also, just beat it. ****ed up ending is ****ed up.
  6. FEAR 2. Loving it as much as the first one.
  7. They didn't make it per say, but without them the Portal that we know and love would have probably never happened. Valve did make it. They hired the Narbacular Drop team, but it's not like the Narbacular Drop guys were the only ones who worked on it.
  8. Because she's a incredibly powerful psychic. Her ghost continues to float around.
  9. I'm playing Warcraft III, which I intend to follow up with The Frozen Throne. Makes me want to go back to WoW. I downloaded the Wrath of the Lich King cinematic and that's stirring me up. Oh, Arthas, you've fallen so far. *sniffle*
  10. Crud. Sounds like Bioware Austin filled their QA position that I applied for.
  11. Don't forget the whole Neverwinter Nights lets you transfer over your Baldur's Gate character entire feature was cut.
  12. My precious. Picture's fuzzy, but I don't care. The picture only exists to show off to you guys.
  13. DLC level was the best level in the game.
  14. I hope my unemployment doesn't last long. I have an application in with a company that I'd love to get a shot with.
  15. So, tomorrow's the last day. The office closes down. This has been a rather terrific time and I have to say that I will miss it.
  16. Who were these people? Are you sure you didn't imagine their existance?
  17. STALKER: Clear Sky Still really need to finish Tomb Raider Anniversary and Persona 4. And get started on Arcanum. But I'm stuck at character creation. I want to create something fun, but am afraid the game will kick my butt for not being combat focused. How is it about that kind of thing? And I'm heavily tempted to reinstall Warcraft 3 to replay the campaign.
  18. I remember trying to buy Mario Kart 64. Funcoland wanted $80 for it.
  19. Very little chance of this happening. This is the quickest way to get retail chains to stop stocking your product.
  20. Not really. Considering that consoles have been released previously as standards with various manufacturers. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sega_Saturn#Saturn_models A properly standardized console would be no more "closed" than a DVD player.
  21. Thank you, Hurl! I hate console wars so much. It's so senseless. Competing over brand recognition of hardware and tying that to the software instead of just the software competing with other software. Hardware vs hardware is alright, but when the software is tied to it, then it's no longer about the quality of the hardware itself, but about what software companies you can sign with.
  22. Played X3 all day, but I didn't mean to. Found Arcanum for $10 over Amazon recently. Installed it now, and now am installing an unofficial patch.
  23. The only "base building" you have is really a technical interpretation of it. A few leaders can drop structures on the battlefield, but not much. There's plenty of micro. You're using that more on your troops, getting them into position, covering areas. As opposed to the old method of building up a big group and wafflestomping the enemy.
  24. lol. Do you guys keep little sayings like this taped up in the lounge? Nothing like having built in excuses for your failures. There's also nothing like someone buying a toaster then blaming the manufacturer when it doesn't work because they live in a house with no roof and it's raining.
  25. I thought console FPS games invented leaning. To make up for precise look controls when turning corners. And by "I thought" I mean I made that up on the spot.
