Maybe because all of his ancestors frequently dove head first off of tall buildings?

Seems to me like it would have been better to have a single level multiplayer demo with pre-made squads rather than the turorial and hand holding missions. Oh well, Borderlands 2 awaits.

A five gig download for roughly ten minuets of tutorial? Say it ain't so Mo.

I just finished the last of the Borderlands 1 DLC and am ready to start BL2. I really liked Zombie Island, Mad Moxi, and General Knoxx for the most part although all the travelling back and forth began to drag towards the end. By the end of Claptrap Revolution I was absolutely sick of it and skipped most of the optionals entirely. That was a god awful move imho, and a real shame because I think many of the jokes were some of the best in the game. The conclusion to Tannis' robot parts quest had me laughing out loud but it was not worth the time it took to find everything. I understand that the DLCs were not meant to be played back-to-back right after completing the main campaign but I can't believe they made the maps so much larger and completely did away with any form of quick-travel or vehicle use. I'm almost dreading Gearbox outdoing themselves on the tedious "All the way there and all the way back and all the way over there again" quest chains for the sequel.

I'm about to to go to bed after playing a lot of Borderlands 1. I'd forgotten how addicitve it is.

I don't think he actually meant it.

That's so true! They don't even make most of the games they sell anymore.

I get what you're saying but I disagree. I think Valve have demonstrated a wide variety of technical and creative skill in their writing over their various titles and I don't see it being beyond them to put branching questions, exposition and choices into conversations directed at the player.
-
There actually is a lot of well written conversation in all of the Half-Life, Left 4 Dead and Portal games, even if it's often someone talking at you in a lot of cases.
-
That's true. The single player is pretty weak but the multiplayer is amazing.

The Battlefield series is on sale on Origin at the moment. You can get Battlefield 3 for £10 and it's probably one of the best fps games available at the moment. Just mentioning

Try arranging a SODOFF group? You can then spent the entire time you're playing bouncing SODOFF puns off of the rest of the Obsidianites so you can really stick it to your friend when the time comes.

Which RPG games to buy (GOG sale)?

Temple of Elemental Evil is virtually unplayable without mods. For example, you can hire followers in addition to the 5 you create at the start of the game. They all automatically take a share of any loot you get from chests and corpses which is fine until they become over-loaded and won't sell, drop or distribute what they've picked up. Ever. So your hired help are useless after the first encounter or two unless you plan to never loot anything while they're with you. The Circle of Eight mod pack fixes a bunch of issues and despite not having much story to it, ToEE was a great turn-based tactical combat game. -
I took it as a tragic movie warning about reckless and dangerous research in the pursuit of noble goals. In this case, a cure for male pattern baldness. The film opens with a failed experiment that led to the evolution of a planet full of life-forms with hair, but no other engineers were there to see how close they had come and so went down other dangerous avenues for millennia until they infested their ship with (also bald) monsters that killed all but one of the crew. Then when that crewman is revived, he is met by an inferior species that have so much hair. Even their machines have hair. And it's too much for him and this would-be-humanitarian goes on a killing spree and everyone dies except for (typically) the character with the most hair and the decapitated android that also has hair.

Thanks, that was great

Frankly it's nice to see big-budget movies having disabled characters in a lead role. You can't fault them for that.

I didn't play the Assassin DLC but Lecacy was pretty good. Legacy was mainly a dungeon crawl. They didn't do wave combat as far as I remember (or perhaps they did but it was handled better, I remember combat encounters being one of the things I was pleased about). All the companions had regular banter with the other companions. There were a couple of fun puzzles. The player got a unique weapon in which they had some choice over what it's bonuses were. There were a couple of interesting boss battles too but one of the last ones was very much like an MMO raid boss which will not be to everyone's taste.

How is the matchmaking? It was always a bit of a lottery in the last game as to whether the group you were joining were in your level range or were at roughly the same stage as you in the game. Also can we kick high level players who join lvl 1 servers and ruin the experience for everyone now?
-
Well I wasn't expecting that.

Sorry, I seem to be skipping over important details a lot this weekend.

The dentist. Seriously? NHS waiting times have gotten really bad over here.

And this would be where the music starts and the opening credits for CSI: Obsidian begin.

Oooh, decided to pick up the Icewind Dale series. For some reason back in the day I never grabbed those, so it will be a fresh experience for me. Should tide me over a bit with the Eternity excitement. Don't forget that Black Isles released a free expansion for IWD called Trials of the Luremaster which you can download from here. You need the expansion Heart of Winter to run it though.
