  1. That is probably true. Although don't get me wrong, I'd love a Ten Liittle Indians style story in and rpg/adventure game.
  2. While I'm very keen on better AI in games and getting rid of patterns that make the AI predictable, I don;t think it's going to help much in making a game scary, The first few hours sure, but after that I bet reloads and frustration will replace predictable patterns. Maybe, but I'd still rather have a game where I'm nervously (virtually) clutching my trusty motion tracker and getting ready to run like crazy at the first sign of Xenomorph rather than splattering wave after wave of mindless Xenomorphs with a machine gun, because the latter certainly isn't scary. I do agree with all of that, it could and hopefully will make for a wonderful game. But I'd think as far as making something scary, that hand-crafted scares tent to have slightly longer life because at least they're different from each other and possibly more likely to scare the player where-as when the AI is hunting you, you are going to get a feel for it eventually and there's a real risk of doing that before the game ends. If it's too good, you die a lot and he's not a monster he's just a jerk. If he's too easy, screw him he's a pushover. If he's actually pretty level with you he's a good hide and seek partner but how many times can you do the whole 'hiding in the closet, oh no I've done this too often so now he's onto me' thing before you become dulled to that experience? Perhaps I'm wrong though, it's not like many horror games have had good AI or are like this so I don't have a lot of experience to draw from. It just doesn't seem like, on that specific point of making Isolation a scary game, that it can work out anywhere near as well as they suggest in the marketing. I guess my ideal Aliens game would be to have a more linear FPS where you're fighting a level full of intelligent xenomorphs that react to the player's behaviour rather than a survival horror. I know it sounds like I've picked a point to bash Isolation with and that's not what I was getting at, Isolation looks and sounds promising I was just picking at something for the sake of discussion.
  3. Path of Exile sounds closest to what you're looking for. It's only "sort of" an MMO but it does play like Diablo. Marvel Heroes is a similar model but when I played the beta the game just wasn't fun, perhaps it's been sufficiently polished since then though. Have you ever heard of Planetside?

  5. I was really hoping that Mysterion would make an appearance at some point. I'd love a DLC that spun-off into the super hero scenario they sometimes do in the show.
  6. He was the first enemy that I had any difficulty with too. It's also worth noting that at that point in the game some quests' enemies are higher level than others and some cannot be completed until later because you won't have access to required areas or abilities.
  7. Devil's Advocate though, it's art style mirrors south park. You don't need physics, lighting or most of the lengthy list of options we get in most games. I do hope being able to change the aspect ratio is an option or auto-accounted for but with how crudely drawn and animated South Park is this is one game where even resolution changes may not be needed, or may in-fact make the game look worse if everyone is too smoothly drawn.
  8. I think it's the better design choice, if everyone treated the player as they should an 11 year old then how much fun would that be?
  9. I just finished Bioshock Infinite and I can't believe that Irrational have had to shut down. Infinite is my favourite of their games by far, they really nailed the combat and the storytelling.
  10. Are you sure that's someone on steroids and not a terminator? I mean, I'm no doctor but;
  11. The spirit powers were really fun though, it's a shame they weren't present for the main campaign.
  12. I wonder how many people still buy Doom 2, I mean it's so old now.
  13. Invisible War was great, it did several things better than the original and while the ending was awful, most of the game kicked ass.
  14. Maybe you should go half with him since it sounds like he's having to share now?

  16. "Let's just make it and see what happens!"
  17. X-2 was a good game, loved the class system. It was embarrassing to be seen playing it though since X was a typical FF game and yet everything about X-2 seemed to be aimed exclusively towards teenage girls. Pretty bold move for a game developer and Square managed it extremely well, it also made the story and cast different from the usual RPG tropes.
  18. I am, I've not seen a lot of the show in recent years either but I expect it will still be hilarious even if some of the references are lost on me.
  19. Sorry, I apparently don't know how to edit my posts properly anymore
  20. If he's the actor who played Carth and Kaiden then he's very under-rated. It would be nice to see him get a character that is popular for once.
  21. Final Fantasy Tactics The Witcher 1 & 2 The Banner Saga Dark Souls - I suggest this one for the unique gameplay mechanics rather than the plot.Be warned, it's difficult but not as bad as everyone makes out. Cthulhu Saves the World Fallout New Vegas
  22. It's a shame really because they actually had quite a good combat and class system for DA2. Judging from the way combat encounters were handled in the DLC, Exalted March would have likely pleased many people who liked the story and characters but were bogged down by the same old dungeons and enemies.
