daven replied to xzar_monty's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)It's kind of like, when people are bothering you a bit... you just say 'What can I do for you?' It's ALMOST sarcastic. I guess it's just in England?

daven replied to xzar_monty's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Whenever someone rings me in the office I ask that... It goes... 'Hi David' 'Hi Joe Bloggs' 'How are you?' 'Fine, what can I do for you?'

Future projects for PoE
daven replied to juanval's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I'm kind of done with this universe to be honest, i've enjoyed the games but they feel more of an experiment to me. Bring on a SCI FI rpg in this style... has it been done before? Or at least put them on a back burner for a few years, make something else then maybe come back to this when they have a good idea for it.

Who has finished the game?
I thought the companions is something they would have tried to improve with the whole 'relationship system' or whatever. But they don't seem anymore in depth or interesting than the first game. I hoped on the ship you could go talk to them and they've have a lot to say like in KOTOR 2, but they don't. It feels like WoW sometimes, when people complain about certain aspects o the game and then the designers go a complete 180 on that system instead of just tweaking it or iproving on it. Of course I have no idea what it's like as a game designer but maybe you have to try stick to your guns and take criticism with a whole load of salt.

Deadfire Companions - who wrote who?
daven replied to Mirandel's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Durance was my favourite guy in the first game. Maybe Serefan orrrrrrrr... yeah Serefan is my favourite in Deadfire.

Justin Bell resigned?
Wow what an a-hole. The goodwill everyone has for this guy mus have dissipated by now. He seems to have so much resenment for people in Obsidian. Needs to get a bloody grip.

Who has finished the game?
Yeah it feels like they added the romances just becaus people wanted them not because they had a good idea for it or thought they could do it well. It feels like a lot of decisions were made by that logic. 'People want it so lets put it in even if we don't know a\ good way to make it work'.

Who has finished the game?
You haven't heard his word before? Found it on TVtropes years ago. But it applies so much in many different series across different media. Joey from Friends.. my god.

Who has finished the game?
Best bit? Worst bit? I played around 25 hours and I got some really weird companion bugs(i think they were at least) so i put it down for a while. Started again got about 20 hours in. I have kind of lost all motivation now however with the expanions being released, think i'll wait for the full PACKAGE to be out. I'd like to know a summary of thoughts on peoiple's experience. There seems to be a lot of negative comments on here, which is fine I have done the same but I think the game is pretty good. I think it's probably better than the first game even though I've yet to complete it. TLDR: Blarghagrhagagha

What am i doing wrong in combat?
daven replied to RevBlue's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Yeah I was getting destroyed on this fight on hard mode. Couldn't understand why everyone was saying the game is so easy.

Baldur's Gate 3?
Who are the people exactly and why aren't they worthy of our trust? Aside from that, if this was 2001 or 2002 and Bioware/MumboJumbo was developing it, you wouldn't be saying "It has no reason to exist" You'd pre-order it without any hesitation lol Don't deny it p.s I've missed you, fellow raggae/ska brother! Daven the dwarf hehee Hello! Yeah, ermm... I mean Beamdog. I don't think the decisions they have made with all the 'Enhanced Editions' are correct. In fact it's almost insulting to call them enhanced!

To buy or not to buy PoE2
daven replied to Jackjonez's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Just curious... did you end up getting the game and what are your thought?

Baldur's Gate 3?
BG3 has no reason to exist and I don't trust any of these people to be able to make anything the calibre of BG2.

To buy or not to buy PoE2
daven replied to Jackjonez's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Yeah completely, was just chucking out my thoughts. I feel like a lot of us are a bit overly negative on here, but i'm sure it's out of a place of LOVE!

The problem with portraits ... IMO
daven replied to Walter.Richards's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)To be fair, I don't really think of the character model as how my character looks. But the portrait is how he looks, the character model is just a crude representation, i felt like that in the BG games and NWN. However yeah I think the option would be nice for people who want it. Options are always a good thing.

To buy or not to buy PoE2
daven replied to Jackjonez's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I actually prefer the game over PoE1, there are flaws yes but it had me hooked for a while. I am waiting a bit to go back to it when all the expansions are out however. The look of it is much better, i like the animations, I prefer the combat as it doesn't feel as hectic and fast as the first game, i like most of the music... (the only part I have a real problem with is the level up music!!!!) I don't play on POTD and don't learn the systems inside out, i like to sort of barge in and take it as it comes in these kinda games. So the whole difficulty issue is not a problem for me I struggle on some fights in veteran mode. It's on sale on GoG now right isn't it? I'd say go for it.

The problem with portraits ... IMO
daven replied to Walter.Richards's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Yes but remember the character generator for DA was much more advanced. Everyone would look almost identical on this.

A small early "review" of Deadfire after finally getting into the game
daven replied to xzar_monty's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)The best part of ToB is the party member it adds and his sexy voice.

Companions saying no to movement during combat

It's pretty silly that I have to use console cheats just to change my party members' weapon proficiencies.
daven replied to Grak500's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Well I thought it was funny!

Here is why I'm not playing right now...
daven replied to Wintermist's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Well... thanks for sharing, I'll try not to be too upset about it! But more seriously, I wish I had just waited until everything had been released and got it for cheaper/in a better state. I have put the game on hold until everything is out for it as I probably won't be replaying anytime soon as this back log of games keeps building up...! Oh well!

A small early "review" of Deadfire after finally getting into the game
daven replied to xzar_monty's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Yeah I agree with most of what you have said. Empower isn't a very interesting game mechanic, but like you say it's easily ignorable. I forget it's there most of the time. But overall the game is good and a bit of fun, but not the step up BG to BG2 I think a lot of people were hoping for.

Pathfinder Kingmaker is bigger then Deadfire
Managed to play for a few hours yesterday. I really liked the intro where they decide to join you or not depending on how you've acted. I like some of the weather effects. I really like that my guy actually has a RUCK SACK on!!! This might be the first time I've ever seen that in an RPG. Well done.

Pathfinder Kingmaker is bigger then Deadfire
The Souls games are celebrated for the same reason this is apparently being criticized. HMMMMMMMM. Well I haven't played it for myself yet, maybe I'll start whinging later.
