  1. There are more plausible explanations but I wanted to keep the whole virgin birth theme because it is more fun. As for technology, I believe it was Arthur C. Clarke that stated that any significantly advance form of technology would be indistinguishable to magic or the supernatural. I mean, if you took a military Humvee with a .50 cal machine gun back in the days of the 1st century C.E. how do you think people would react? Now, the most plausible explanation for Jesus' birthing, not going the whole God route, is that she got pregnant out of wedlock, a stoning offense in those days I believe, which Mary and Joseph concocted a story (or maybe it was just Mary) that would not get herself killed.
  2. It is just as viable as a theory of what happened as a god impregnating a human woman, and has a greater scientific plausibility. It has been done in mice: http://www.nature.com/news/2004/040419/pf/040419-8_pf.html Mice are often used to test subjects prior to human testing.
  3. Tell that to the komodo dragon that went through the process. http://www.strangeark.com/blog/2006/12/kom...enogenesis.html Higher life forms than "plant or an invertebrate" have gone through parthenogenesis and it is a very very rare occurrence. And if such event occurred with Mary, just imagine how a primitive people who lived 2000+ years ago would interpret it. They would interpret it as a supernatural event, a miracle of God, because they would have no true understanding of the physiological process that was involved.
  4. This is an internet forum, not a college thesis.
  5. Um, Darth Moth, Parthenogenesis is a form of conception.
  6. Did they drop any phat lewt? I could really use Full Plate of the Zodiac don't you know.
  7. It is all about keeping up appearances. Certainly it may look to some people that things have changed, and some politicians could persuade people thinking things have changed in order to push their own agenda, but it is just the illusion of change they are buying into and not real change. Its all about how things appear on the surface and that is what people will glance at and fuel their opinions from.
  8. You do? I don't. If I get a console it will probably be a PS3. I saw a demo at Best Buy and it looks very nice. If it gets a good substantial amount of games I want to play it would definitely be worth the money.
  9. This thread disturbs me.
  10. What's wrong with the new Zelda game?
  11. Assassin's Creed for the PS3 looks fairly interesting.
  12. There are a few PS2 titles that are tempting. Rogue Galaxy is one of them.
  13. That's a good one, Darque.
  14. I let my personal opinions known, however I am not actively seeking to sabotage the game's release.
  15. The difference is that IGN is a legitimate interview and the Codex is not. The purpose of Codex' lil bit of unhumour is to ridicule something they don't like. That is what they do. If they don't like something they ridicule and badger it like schoolyard bullies. They have done that for years.
  16. The difference there is that Weird Al does not misrepresent his material, unlike the Codex.

  18. To get back on topic!
  19. Obviously there is more to it than just that, numberman, but as I said its been years since I have played it and I have no interest in digging in my closet to go over it again in more detail. Suffice to say that it was not Fallout enough for my tastes and this is way off topic for this thread.
  20. That is why I put more stock in science than religion.
  21. There is no evidence of their being an afterlife so due to a lack of evidence of something existing has more credibility than the evidence of something not existing.
  22. No. Not "wee." Wii.
  23. I really can't be more specific than that because I haven't played the game for years. Just how they set up the Brotherhood of Steel in that game is contrary to Fallout 1 and 2.
