Furi. Defeated the Burst (the sniper boss). Play-dead tactic has worked (also switching dodge direction from KB to mouse might have helped). Defeated the Edge on the first attempt.

Completed Jedi Knight campaign in SWTOR. Controls were uncomfortable (is it typical for MMO RPGs?), everything else was fine. Reached the sniper boss in Furi. The last phase (bullet-hell) is hard. Not sure, what I'm doing wrong, but the only time, when I'm not getting hit, is i-frames after getting hit.

Agreed, mostly. I think, MP is fine, when it's optional. Dark Souls had it right - I could play completely offline and get everything the game had to offer (except "Darkmoon Blade" miracle, which requires either PvP or a lot of grinding), I could play co-op or PvP, if I wanted to. On the other hand, MP might be considered a waste of resources, which could be spent on SP content instead. So, if the main focus of a game is SP, MP might be damaging.

Still playing SWTOR (Jedi Knight campaign). The new companion is amazing. Started Furi (boss rush; got with Absolver on GOG). 3 bosses down, ? to go. 1. Going to the swamps at night is not recommended (a lot of enemies, 2-3 bosses); 2. Obtaining Red Ribbon (drawners-repelling talisman) is preferable before chapter 5.

What Book(s) or Author would like to be turned into a game?
Hawke64 replied to EbonyBetty's topic in Computer and Console
Good point. Perhaps I should have specified what book/author would you like a video game to be influenced by. Because if the video game is based off the book word by word, the gamer who has read the book would know all the answers and ur rite some thing in a book can't be translated to video games just like the silver screen. However there have being video games that have followed the book's timeline while still been flexible with the source materials like Pillars of the Earth, I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream, and to a lesser extant Shadow of Mordor (aka you can very much walk into Mordor). Thanks for clarification. I think, Discworld (by Terry Pratchett) would make an interesting setting for a city builder/simulator (with Ankh-Morpork as the most challenging city to maintain).- 64 replies

What Book(s) or Author would like to be turned into a game?
Hawke64 replied to EbonyBetty's topic in Computer and Console
I'm not sure that books can be made into good games, if the developers attempt to recreate them to the letter. And gameplay mechanics tend to break the lore (e.g. wizards in LotR MMO). I think, turning a PnP game into a computer one, and then writing books about it (like DnD) is a better option.- 64 replies

Continuing PT of SWTOR. Met one of the characters from Revan (book).

Some minor bugs were met with a hate campaign, which was going even after those were fixed. EA and Bioware supported the game for 5 months and added extra content free of charge*. I am thankful for that. *(unlike, for example, Square Enix who released a paid costume DLC for NieR: Automata, instead of patching game-breaking bugs or fixing PC controls) Edit. I do understand frustration of MET fans and I do sympathize, but it doesn't justify the over-reaction. Edit2. Toned down sarcasm. Can't expect from others to remain civil, if don't do so myself.

Completed Dex (2D Deus Ex: Human Revolution with blue-haired Adam Jensen).

Broke my old mouse, Razer DeathAdder. Got (had for a few years, but haven't used actively) a new one, Razer Mamba. Remembered why I used it rarely, when my hand started to hurt. Mamba feels too flat, compared to DeathAdder. The question - is there a gaming mouse, similar to DeathAdder (form + buttons + software), except another edition of it?

What do you mean? Afaik, no other Obsidian game has "bastard" in the title. I mean just in their games in general like Black Isle Bastards. I feel like their may be a connection that I'm not grasping. From in-game encyclopedia: "Bastard Tier. Named for its position between two realms (the Northern Empire and the Southern Tiers), the Bastard Tier is a melting pot of cultures, and a place of commerce and intrigue. Even following its conquest by Kyros, it remains a strategically vital area, connecting the Empire to the Tiers below, with Tunon holding court within the city".

Tyranny: Bastard’s Wound will be released upon the world on September 7, 2017. The expansion will be available from digital retailers everywhere for $14.99.

Continuing the 1st PT of SWTOR. Finished Alderaan. Haven't seen a lightsaber I could use for a while (the ones I've got require Rise of the Hutt Cartel in order to equip). Also Dex (Metroidvania/Brawler in cyberpunk setting). Animations certainly could be better. Everything else seems fine so far.

Unfortunate, but ending support for ME:A doesn't mean that the sequel is out of the question. I guess, there will be something after Anthem and DA4. Hudson and Gamble seem to be quite optimistic (as possible in this situation). https://twitter.com/CaseyDHudson/status/899094294589341696 https://twitter.com/GambleMike/status/899096870835765249

Continuing the 1st PT of Star Wars: The Old Republic (Jedi Knight). It got better after Taris (and after I stopped taking side quests). Reached Tatooine.

Completed the 3rd PT of Pyre, got all achievements (50) and run out of save slots (5). Attempting to continue PT of Scourge: Outbreak (co-op third-person shooter, I'm playing with 3 AIs).

Why? I have no idea who that is. As mentioned above they made Enslaved: Odyssey to the West (based on Journey to the West) and DmC: Devil May Cry (based on Devil May Cry). Both being good-looking, yet pretentious and mediocre games. The company is focused on graphics, rather than gameplay. Though, Odyssey had rather funny explanation for map borders.

Completed the 6th PT of Tyranny (dual-wielder, NG+, PotD). The difficulty curve is pretty much the same as on Normal (by 1/4 of Act II the player is unstoppable). Glad to see the magic system re-balanced. Completed the 2nd PT of Pyre. Great game, but the combination of single save per PT and RNG is annoying. Got "Enlightened" achievement (defeated Master-level AI).

Does it suffer the same fate as the first? No, "combat" in TToN actually managed to be worse than in PS:T. Ouch.. if it's even more horrid than the first then I'm glad I skipped out. The problem it has is that it's turn based. It's shallow and unengaging, but turn based part makes it really dull and clunky. Recent patch they released was to speed things it, but I didn't give it a shot. Luckily for the most part, you can avoid crisis system. The combat gets better, when the party reaches Tier 3/level 12 and acquires some decent equipment. And opportunities to make use of this equipment arise more often by the 2nd area. Haven't played TToN with the patch, but completed 3 playthroughs before that. It is fun, when you consciously pick fights.

Completed Pyre. I certainly recommend it, yet it is difficult to compose an adequate review now. Also I sincerely admire developers' "Your ending is the true ending" position.

Continuing Lords of the Fallen playthrough. Got lost in one of the last areas (Chamber of Lies) for 3 hours. Defeated the boss of the said area on the 2nd attempt. Edit. Completed the main story and the DLC (1). The game isn't bad, but I did not like the combination of level design (DS1-like) and combat difficulty (an average action-RPG).

Playing Lords of the Fallen. The game is fun, yet it feels like simplified Dark Souls or Darksiders without platforming. Defeated 2 bosses in a row on the first try.

I guess, "manslaughter" is the most fitting ("The crime of killing a human being without malice aforethought"), but "murder" would do. --- "Fading Light" by Aviators
