  1. I do not remember much but yes, I was there when it all began (Before Bulders Gate, Icewind Dale, etc.) I still feel like a n00b sometimes though, even though my specialty is retro rpg's, I seem to excel at platfors and hardcore action/adventure games - the difficult ones.
  2. Outcast: Second Contact... People should really stop living in the past and playing the outdated voxel pos because this remake is so damn beautiful and better in every way *unless you are stuck on nostalgia* What's improved: Controller support 4k support Updated graphics Unity Engine No ugly voxels Cut out the horrible cut-scenes for cool graphic novel art segments Better animations Restored content not available in mods for the old one Updated u.i They changed the main character's appearance so he actually looks human now The same: Horrible lip-syncing just like the old one lol Same a.i for stealth, combat What's worse? Nothing can be worse than the old classic, if we're being honest, the old one was revolutionary in 1999 but quickly aged to a heaping pile of **** and is pretty horrible in every aspect now. The price: It's $34.99, that's a hefty price compared to the original which runs for $4.99 but a smart person will not complain about this since - as said before - the new remake is better in all ways. Plus, the remake was briefly on sale for $13.49 so really it was available for only a bit more than the original. To end, yes, I've still my boxes version of the original release of Outcast, I also have Outcast 1.1 and now I have Outcast: Second Contact so my word is solid here as a long time Outcast fan. This is the Outcast we've been waiting for.
  3. Personally, I could care less about the game not having different races, I only say this for the fact that for a game that's trying to be historically accurate, there are many other important issues the game has that history disagrees with wholly. This has been a common and ongoing discussion on the Steam forums in which the devs agreed to have let down both backers and buyers with. but the thing is that the game is so ambiguously ambitious that it'd be silly to expect it to 100% be accurate at any rate. It's a game after all :smacksknee: Still, I'm stuck on how bad some of the systems in the game are, which keep me from buying the game at full price and the mindset of the community and it's fanboys certainly do not make things better. Devs are looking for critical feedback but whenever people call out a given system which needs to be improved, the fanboys automatically say "Git gud" or "Casuals do not belong here". It's one thing to want a difficult game but another thing to stupidly sacrifice accessiblity for the sake of defense of a product. Thankfully, the devs seem to be ignoring the backers and trying to work on improving these systems to engage a larger audience (see KCD tweets to see what I mean). I have said many times, if anyone is truly 100% happy with the game, more power to them but the game, realistically, needs much work. At the same time, I commend the devs for taking so many risks and being so experimental with the game's systems. Unfortunately, these failures are the very reason why AAA publishers are not willing to take these types of risks. More often than none, these experiments tend to fail, even if the game has a small following which willingly throw themselves comstantly in fire to defend the game. All in all, it's been a treacherous journey but one that seems to have ended with a 50/50 pay off - which is pretty good considering how particularly risky the game is. Most people are experiencing more bugs now than most users were in early beta, strangely.. but other parts of the game are now more polished than beta. As an anti-buyer of the game, I have been following the game with a closed eye, whilist often in talks with the devs in their private discord. That said, I can't wait to see what they change in the game with upcoming patches (expect ALOT of CHANGES). If things were not so early access-feeling on release, I would expect the game to have about 90% positary worldwide ratings rather than 70%, I think in time the game will be amazing but whithered the road leads, and a hard walk from here. The devs are good honest peeps, who are admitting that there are alot of things wrong here, so i wish them well on their journey to making things better for all in the future.
  4. They won't understand, they'll just keep responding to each other and keep the thread alive... They haven't watched Frozen
  5. Normally I'd agree with the "not allowed to spam saves in this rpg/not allowed to have 200 save files" but the save system here is just one of the most horrible things I've ever seen. When it comes to this or save spamming, I'd take the save spamming. As many others are saying, if you must leave the game in a hurry, this system us not very good. Luckily though, there is already a mod to fix it. I loved Dragon's Dogma but it had a similar problem with the fast travel system and also you could only have one manual save. The game looks really beautiful though, even on console and it has alot of cool systems, the crime system, so on.
  6. Oh you're still stuck on that... Let it go... Let it go
  7. Sounds horrible. I've never had a problem with games that use CryEngine so maybe it's just bad programming/optimization for the specific game utilizing th engine. I take it I made the right decision to avoid the game for time being (wait for things to settle in). I hate crashes
  8. Will this be good?
  9. Hmmmm.. I must have missed something then. Which Bat-verse did Nolan base his characters off of? I know Suicide's Joker was based off the 80's tattoed Joker comic stretch, and it was scary how accurate Leto was yo it - although I hate that version of the Joker. Sorry my purist belief disappointed you
  10. I agree, by Hollywood's standard he is basically allowed to do what he wants with the characters, just as any other director & production team but I mean, there's a difference between how something like say Thor: Ragnarok which was a love letter to comic fans whereas the Batman movies from almost every generation are a love letter to Hollywood. The gauge of perception on which I drew these allegations are in the proof of content, as said state of pre-delimma before, so not so much allegatons to an end. I can't help but look at all the small very fine + hidden details and easter eggs in a movie like Thor: Ragnarok and pit it up against a movie of the opposite tone, to thereby protest my own contingency to this particular matter. For example, having a slew of characters such as Red King or Korg which 90% (maybe more) of viewers won't even know when nearly every comic fan would but again, I'm nitpicking the likes of a great franchise anyhow. Or the even Shakaar, the tatooine city, where originally came from Planet Hulk. I really wished there were more of these specific things in Batman films but alas, to rid my distrust and disregard to that appointment, I've given up hope and have just stayed with the animated shorts & full length movies. Other than my complaints on the trilogy, I think they did push Batman forward, somewhat renewing the hunger of a broader audience for the dark Knight detective that disappeared for so long. I'm just glad it's over and hopefully in the future we can get a Batman Beyond trilogy with an old Bruce Wayne and Damien Wayne.
  11. To be fair Gotham By Gaslight was marketed and produced solely as alternate universe, the Nolan trilogies and other live action films were not. As far as directors and producers having enough passion to do actual research. Yes, there's proof out there but this is found by the content of the films, not the representation of it alone. Proof can also be found in various ways such as the 1-2 questions in order for fans to test directors, actors and producers on knowledge to see who's faking interest. I usually watch the Q&A briefings of WinderCon or Comic Con which unveil the thoughts and intentions of the production team before release. In hidnsight and retrospective, this only seems to kill hype as we can see where the direction of the films lead to so that is a fault of the viewer's will, such as my own. It's not only the Nolan Batman films I have a problem with, I just have always thought they were the most flawed but with the nicest packaging. I think Batman Forever was equally as bad but for generally different reasons.
  12. I just wish Nolan had done some actual research into the characterization and background of the main villains of Batman's world. I have no problem with someone's original vision - as long as it makes sense within the world that it belongs to. The "Let's make it our own" approach is great for making money but not so much for preserving the characters we know and love. It worked well for some characters in the film but not so well for others. First off, we have Heath Ledger's version of an "accidental" Joker. The poor writing of the character persist if the stereotypical "I meant for this to happen, I meant to be caught so I could be put in jail so I could do this other thing". Then we have Hardy's Bane, which was just as much as a steering pot as much as Legder's Joker. Replacing the science experiment theme with the terrorist/holy cleansing theme. Of course, people who have no knowledge of the origins of these characters loved this as Hollywood has always had the power to trick people into believing that something is right even when it's totally wrong. In this case, the acting was very good but the writing of the characters was very bad. All that said, the casting was great. The dual voices of Batman/Bruce Wayne was a great idea. The acting itself was superb. I appreciated that Nolan did Raz Al Ghul somewhat justice and the Catwoman suit that Anne Hathaway wore was an obvious nod to the 60's Julie Newmar suit (which felt out of place in the end). I would have thought that the modern Catwoman with the goggles would make more sense considering... I don't expect people who don't know anything about the comics to agree with me, as they've already settled for accepting these characters with their changes without the knowledge of their origins and backgrounds. After all, it's these types of people who generally think Heath's Joker is better than Jack Nicholson's Joker or God forbid they went off the deep end and claimed better than Hamill's Joker. Ledger's Joker's success was propelled not by great acting alone but also by his passing. Thankfully, this is not reflected to outdoing Nicholson's Joker as it is still more iconic. Mind you guys that I'm not talking about these things here: I actually have no problem with any of those things, so long as the content surrounding these abrupt mistakes stays pure - which is by far more important to me. The Nolan Trilogy really reminded me of the fan-made Joker film in which Harley is a protistute and the Joker only becomes the Joker after Harley dies. Nolan has slaughtered character legendary characters in similar ways for the sake of Hollywoodizding the franchise to appeal to the unknowing but very accepting audience. It's a two edged sword because the films did do well even though the writing was awful - as is the case for all Batman films throughout anyway (excluding the animated films of course!) Here is the Joker fan-film I compared Nolan's prized trilogy to: ^Run time is about an hour and a half, beware... it's budget quality but the acting is just as good - which is why the commenters compare it to the Dark Knight trilogy as well. Why I like Ben Affleck's Batman more than Christian Bale's Batman is because even through his Batman lacks charisma, at least it's closer to the source material. If we look closely at the way his Batman utilizes technology and stealth, it's on point compared to Bale's Batman which was less calculated behavior and either relying on tech or brute strength vs the environment. But I do like Bale's Batman more than Kilmer's, Keaton's and the bottom of the barrel for me would be Clooney's Batman who I thought had no charisma, no depth to character whatsoever but I'm nitpicking for the sake of preserving the source material. .......... As far as Dunkirk, I want to see it but knowing me, I probably won't see it til down the road as I'm not too big on Military/War movies. When I watch it, I'll probably love it lol Last night I watched 'The Ritual' Sadly, there are alot of great horror movies out there that are underrated just for being horror genre. This wrong mindset of the generations have often been "It's a horror film so the acting is going to be horrible. The hot girl dies first or black guy dies first cliche." Which has always been the ignorance of critics and movie-skippers alike. This is a great example of proving that wrong. As I begin seeing more and more horror newer films pop up on imdb and rotten tomatoes, I'm happy to see that horror fans are reviewing these types of horror movies so they actually have some honesty. I have often had a love for horror films but there are far more better ones than there are bad ones and it's time for these films to shine. The Ritual is a horror film based on Norse mythology.... The Jotün to be precise, in a Swedish forest. I quite enjoyed this because I have played games based on these mythos (Through The Woods, Jotün) but have never seen a movie based on it. In the end, the premise was refreshing, the story was great - it never got boring, and the creature was pretty cool. There is no nudity or sexy women in the film, there is no gore or unnerved or rather unnecessary violence. It was well formed with smooth transitions. I want a sequel/prequel in the future to fill the plotholes. Netflix did good - this time. I love when horror films can rely on atmosphere and storytelling to create great and creepy stories. ......... Also saw Chernobyl Diaries which was alright. Got kinda boring towards the end. I thought of it as a teen scream for the most part and nothing more but at least it wasn't a handycam home-video horror film like Cloverfield or Quarentine. All in all, it was just average, started good, ended poorly. Meh... wholly forgettable. .......... Planning on giving Altered Carbon a try tonight after everyone's bedtime. Maybe. Maybe not, perhaps something else will catch my attention.
  13. Speaking of Batman, I finally saw Gotham By Gaslight, the new Batman (Victorian - alternate universe) animated film tonight. YES! It's as epic as it sounds. Just don't expect steampunk, it's just traditional victorian london. The lighting caught me off guard, it's so well done. Things just seem so accurate and believable. Everything from the voice acting to the story-writing just seemed on point. Perhaps the most refreshing thing is that female characters like Ivy and Selena aren't oversex'd in this one like they've been in other live action/animated films. It's classy but brutal and that makes the film refreshing and beautiful. So... Needless to say, I really liked it. Since Spider-Verse became a thing, DC has been trying to follow suit. Next is the Samurai Batman x Ninja Joker animated film which I can't wait for. Alternate universes/timelines always make characters more interesting. And yes, it's rated R lol Apparently.
  14. No clue exactly what you're lookig for, as far as I can tell, it seems like you are playing more rpg's or isometric games so I'll throw out some different types of games to bring balance to your pallette:) Soma - an underrated first person horror game, makes one question their humanity, consciousness and existence. Oxenfree - a 2D adventure in which 5 friends go to a party on an island and can't get off. Very Stranger Things-esque. The Vanishing Of Ethan Carter - a walking simulator which you play a detective and figure out what happened to a boy. Dex - a 2D Deus Ex, essentially but with a female protagonist. Pyre - Supergiant's newest rpg, looks great, plays great. Has humor and no killing. It's basically mage basketball and choices matter. Brigador - Isometric mech action in fully destructable levels. With over 80 vehicles ranging from hovercrafts, mechwarriors, bikes, floating chevelles, tractors, tanks, etc.
  15. I mean the the color filter and dark vibe it's going for which seems moreorless very similar to Suicide Squad, maybe a bit of Punisher as well. I haven't really heard anything of the story or the characters but I imagine that it will be screwed up somehow. Here's to hoping I'm wrong though. I agree that Suicide Squad is terrible, but DC movies are a bit disappointing in general... from Christopher Nolan's realism take on Batman films to the newer Justice films. The shows, on the other hand, are another story. The Flash, Arrow, Legends and Supergirl (Arrowverse) have only impressed me with just how many easter eggs and backgrounding they've consistently delivered. As for Marvel, my experience has been (mostly) just the opposite. The movies have impressed me - except for the terrible X-Men films, while only a few shows have really drawn me in. Couldn't get into Agents Of Shield, Punisher, Iron Fist or Luke Cage but I loved Inhumans and The Gifted. I'm looking forward to Black Panther and I can already tell Infinity War is going to be a fun, unstructured mess of an action masterpiece. Venom, the trailer feels half-arsed to me for a number of reasons but I suspect the next trailer will actually either show us the actual Venom character or at least give us an idea of who the villain is. Carnage Queen, Anti-Venom or maybe the first Ben Parker synth and the spider-slayers... any of thesw would make for great villains. A straight up Carnage ot Sinister 6 would be disappointing as villain. As a Venom fan, I'm not impressed so far but it's just a poor trailer compared to other Marvel trailers & teasers. Venom isn't/wasn't ever as dark as some people think, scary and creepy yes but I have a feeling that they're gonna totally excuse the comedy and goofiness that has always been a part of Venom characters since he was created.
  16. I just want to see a pic of the him AS Venom. Eddie Brock (of that's the character he's playing) is boring, Flash Thompson was a more interesting Venom tbh, if he somehow got recruited into Shield near the end and became Agent Venom then that would be quite amazing, or imagine if the main villain was Carnage Queen or Anti-Venom. The trailer itself seems to have a Suicide Squad vibe as far as the cinematography, point to point, colorize crystalization, etc. I really hope it's good, I hope it surprises me as my intellect is vast among reasoning but at the same time, I'm not going to set myself up for disappointment. I guess what I'm saying is that I hope this movie goes toward new-skool Venom and not classic Venom. Classic Venom is boring as hell while new Venom is actually interesting and more to the character. We shall see...
  17. Is Celest worth it? Did anyone end up getting Iconoclasts? Is anyone getting Crossing Souls? Crossing Souls, the game bent on killing the 80's by bringing everything from the 80's back just to qatch monsters to destroy it. Have you ever heard of Zombies Ate My Neighbors? It's like that but 80's ish and more story.
  18. https://youtu.be/QPnLQzE6W2k Bullet Head.. It's so good and had me in tears at the end. The trailer is so misleading but that's (I think) what made the movie so great.
  19. I thought you guys would be interested in this... Focus Home Interactive and Vostock Games (devs behind the S.T.A.L.K.E.R franchise) have reveiled their newest game FEAR THE WOLVES Fear The Wolves is an post-apocalyptic Multiplayer battle royale in which players will have to "survive" with given resources. Will be available on consoles as well as pc... Source: https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2018/02/07/fear-the-wolves-is-battle-royale-in-irradiated-chernobyl/ I don't care much for Stalker games but I must admit, I am interested in this and I don't even like Battle Royale games
  20. Hidden and Dangerous 1&2 were amazing!
  21. Yeah, it's actually back to normal now
  22. Yep, exactly! It's just funny how the panic spread so quickly yesterday, the interruption of the tax reform speech in order to cover the stock drop. Instantly, people questioned the economic growth and success because of the drop. Of course these are people who have no business knowledge so it just tickled me a bit is all. I mean, with more and more knowledge of the stock drive, a reset is normal and certainly was due so it (in hindsight) will only support the acknowledgement of economic success, as corrections are daunted upon resets - as has always been cased in history of Wall Street's stock trade.
  23. I want to see a Boba Fett movie but it will never happen, would be great though with Disney in charge. Jurassic World 2 looks just okay at best. I Like the idea of them rescuing the dinosaurs from an island that's about to blow but if we're being honest, Jurassic Park 1 and 3 were the only good ones. Jurassic World was pretty horrible and I'll never get over the fact that Lost World had an awesome introduction of compy's only to get ruined by the t-rex in the city.... a t-rex in the city.... a t-rex in the city. I'm hoping for a complete reboot after this new one as the movies always missed alot from the very first book anyways.
  24. The stock market panic is pretty funny, everyone is acting like the correction is a crash... Poor unintelligibles are trying to somehow relate/blame the drop to political scurry but don't know the difference lol https://www.theguardian.com/business/2018/feb/06/stock-market-fall-correction-crash-shares
