  1. hi dixon-sider! As far as I know, this isn't something being worked on or improved on in the sequel. Perhaps someone will correct me (if they have the necessary proof). Also, this is a topic for the Deadfire section of the forums but I'm sure a mod can move it if they see need. Welcome to the forums!
  2. Which ones exactly? The SJW one was closed/locked only because people weren't mature enough to see the point of thread, they only made the thread worth locking themselves. A mod even talked to me about how and why it was locked. None of my other threads have been anything close though. But that's not what's going on here, not saying I'm offended. It's just that people are going off topic, sprouting irrelevance which is rendering the thread's progression useless, ironically. That's why I say it might be locked, the thread is going in circles and people are just repeating themselves. I shall, too. Just find it odd that everyone in this thread who has been accusing of something they're doing so themselves. Usual case with the forums, you see. Nothing new under the sun.
  3. Sad to see that people couldn't be mature enough to just take it. Meh what else is new? We got the great reaction of "My opinion is right, yours is wrong, here's why!" & "Oh you responded, here's my response to your response, again your experience is wrong, I'll have the last word." going on here. Repetitive and creepy, isn't it... To have people try to brainwash you at every turn? I said it before and I'll say it again, people don't like something and they'll find a way to make themselves a victim while injecting their viewpoint. Maybe the thread will be locked as its now resorted to name-calling. What's next? Heritage, profile, posts number? It will only be so long before we are accused of being the same person on different accounts My favorite thread by far, though I suspect it will get locked by a mod soon, due to people not being much mature to handle truth or respect anyone else's valid experience anymore. Funny how these threads always end up like so. Oh well, all I can seem to do do is sit back and smile as I read. Good stuff... when people try their best to make something seem worthless. Perhaps most importantly, no matter what, the only thing that matters is that you have the right to state your experience, the devs appreciate that. Repeating myself as needed, the more people try to make it seem less real in their own punitive way. There's nothing wrong with my saying that as it's only true lol
  4. People simply do not like the truth if it goes against their belief or value. If people truly want the thread to die, they'd end it but instead they're more concerned abiut getting the last word in over the OP or whoever else contests their viewpoint. Amazing. There's nothing attention seeking or trolling about what the OP or what I am saying. You simply do not like or agree with what a person is saying so you credit it as trolling or baiting. The purpose of my comments is not to get on your nerves, but that is the affect, I'm simply stating both sides of the nickel here.. defiling it as otherwise as such will not change the fact.
  5. Of course, anyone who disagrees with te majority is irrelevant, attention seeking or a troll. Such is the way of the forums throughout the ages. Has it ever been any different? Even when someone states a mere harmless fact, it's the rule of internet for someone contest it, as Gifted1 said earlier. People cannot stand to let it be for whatever reason. Aside from all that, let's all keep this thread going for as long as possible. Hoping it gets up to 500 lol
  6. I love this thread because I already knew what type of responses it would generate, it goes back to my very first comment which was the very first response. I knew that he would face these challenges before it even became to be. Honestly, the OP was fine, it's the comments that followed (from all parties involved) which escalated the thread to a crapper meme. For that reason, it's my favorite thread on the boards atm. Believe me, I understand what's at stake here. With the newly announced release date of Deadfire, this thread isn't so welcoming but valid reasoning we all find here nonetheless. The good thing is that Deadfire is already successful so we as a community can feel safe and comforted in knowing that. As for OP, I'll say again, Skyrim was such a buggy mess for me - so much that I couldn't finish one playthrough or faction alignment within 80 hours of playworth. Still, that means nothing as my experience differs from the OP's personal experience. I have seen people play multiple playthroughs without any bugs hundering their game, small or big. Hoping that when I played, I would share that experience. Different set-ups offer different experiences, it's always been this way. What one person experences, an other may not for they have different back-door files, optimal tracks and so on. However, in defense to the OP and the community who backed Deadfire which disagrees with the OP. My playthrough of Pillars 1 was completely bugless but, again, I'm not going to passion on bigotry and tell someone what they experienced wasn't real or all in their head. After all, I was playing Arkham Knight in 1440p and 60fps at the time when 90% of people couldn't run it in 30fps in 1080p on its horrid release. All that said, this thread is what forums are made of and why I'm proud to be a member here. It allows me to be a part of something greater than myself and while I know some non-members will think of member's comments from all members as trolling status/bait, I think of it as a bunch of people miscommunicating among each other. So you see, we've somehow resorted to shifting focus and blame and even comparing that which resides off the subject, thus avoiding the origin topic. This is the beauty of any forums today and the members who particpy the outcome. As said before, we as the people long to unjustify the just by any means necessary. It's nothing new but we have somehow become more crafty at being sneaky with it. Putting all that hefty logic and rational reasoning aside, yes I agree with the majority here - Burn the OP alive, he is a treacherous traitor!!! TREASON I SAY! TREASON!!! He is an attention seeking baiter, woot woot!
  7. I'm just happy to see this thread stay alive, it deserves that much. It doesn't deserve to die just yet. Frank n beans!
  8. To be fair, Obsidian was always known for bugs - even moreso than Bethesda. The thing that Obsidian was great for was their writing. The more games I play, the more and more newer devs are popping up with just as good/clever story-writing. If we stay here on this forum, members will probably disagree with this. . If we go to a general rpg or story-writing forum, the members will definitely agree with this.
  9. With 120 comments, I think we can all agree... This was a good thread. Although I sense it's running near the end if it's course, I kinda don't want it to die. Edit: I was right, as usual. Thread did come to an end. Called it
  10. Sadly, this is the general forums mindset of any forums. To unjustify what is just in any nature. If I were to make such a thread, I'd reckon I'd realize that people would ask me "Why?" Or "What bugs were so bad exactly?" But then when I'd give an answer, I know that members would act like what I'm saying is irrelevant, invalid and so on. Like my earlier comment suggested, burds of a flock stick together and if you offend or strike one's nerve, they'll all come out of the closet. Creepy but true. It's your job as a member of the forums to let the public know what your experience with Obsidian and their games have been... Good or bad. I know everyone here realizes deep down that you have a point and were right to do what you did. And it will. I know that Obsidian sees this thread and I know that it will push them to be better, regardless of what anyone says, your thread is valid feedback and Obsidian won't take it lightly. This is the type of stuff that lights a fire (Deadfire) in their souls. The thing is, nobody asked anyone here to back Deadfire. This means - You have just as much say as anyone else (like a moderator here told me long ago). So, I am putting aside the butterly bitterness inside me and saying: Yes, I realize that you may have had a different experience than me with the first game. Yes it's possible that you experienced different bugs, being on a different system. And yes, maybe you got lucky playing Skyrim, just as I did at launch with Pillars 1. You're obviiusly not trolling or baiting because you did back it so I'll give a respectful and realistic and also, it seems like you know alot of the programming logitics behind the first game. It happens, I've seen people play Skyrim in continuous playthroughs without facing any type of bugs. Some people like myself, weren't so lucky. Oh well, I've played plenty of games which I experienced no bugs (even Arkham Knight, on which 90% of people did at launch). So the experience isn't non-believable. Speaking realistically, generalization and statistics are irrelevant if my experience was ultimately different than everyone else's. At the end of the day, we are angry because we lost someone (namely YOU). We are sad and see you as a traitor now spinning a web of toxicity. Of course this isn't true but oh well, at the end of the day it's just a game and life goes on. I don't care to have you justify your reasons or thought process because like I said, who am I or anyone else to tell you how to game or what your pc likes. Simple answer, I can't. No matter how hard I try and that bugs the hell outta me I encourage you to stay on the forums as a member and state your continued experiences and detailed bug analysis in the Pillars 1 section. You would be an insigtful help there to members and non-members alike. My wall of text is a wall of text but crucial nonetheless, I write it on the capper just for public service. Enjoy!
  11. Oh my.. Oh dear.... Happy to see this post is being followed to a core. It gets better and better everyday I'm reading this while I cook my weiner on the grill, getting a bit distracted because so entertaining, needa stop before I burn myself silly.
  12. Yep. On the internet, everything is wrong. Every comment ever, because there will always be someone who disagrees. Heck, even the peeps who truly agree with the one disagreeing will disagree with the disagreer anyway... this comment will be disagreed with as well, I'm sure.
  13. This is the best thread ever, please don't stop anytime soon. I want both sides to be immortalized for the ages and I want the siezing war to be never ending!
  14. I expect a few gigs worth of patches within the first six months, mainly being updates/bug fixes, small mechanics changes and content.
  15. Maybe I've gotten lucky but I rarely encounter any bugs in the games I enjoy, whether the game is new or older. I don't know. Are bugs more common in rpg's then other genres? Because that might explain my experience, I don't play as many rpg's, more of 2D platformers, fighters, 3D open world action games, etc. While it's easy to find physics glitches in the open world games like cars flying and ragdoll craziness, it's hard to find game-breaking bugs in them like the ones I found in Skyrim which hinder the experience enough to not play again.
  16. Is anybody getting Dragon Ball FighterZ or Monster Hunter World on Friday?
  17. That's a perfectly fair criticism of the comparison, but really as a player I'm here to comment on the product that I'm currently playing, not factor in extenuating circumstances due to the size of the company. It's not my prerogative to be giving a company a free pass when I'm not pleased with their product. Plus, as I have mentioned, while Obsidian are smaller than Bethesda they're not exactly a tiny indie developer either. In terms of stability improvements made by modders, I don't play with any unofficial patches or performance enhancing mods (or mods in general), so I'm only playing with the patches Bethesda have put out there, just as I have been with Obsidian and Pillars. These are the Obsidian forums though, we are all Obsidian fanboys here and even Obsidian's bombed games will be glorified and defended here. Obsidian can do no wrong, it's the rest of the world who is doing it wrong. Point being, anything you say at this point will be contested. It's the way of the forum here. Trust me, I have learned it the hard way... especially if you have a thread like this in which people know will get a lot of views. As for Skyrim mods helping performance, I'm not gonna stand here and defend Skyrim just because there are mods available to help certain issues... The game is a newer title and we shouldn't have to download mods to fix what the developers are supposed, that goes for any newer game in which developers are still in business too though. Both Skyrim version on PC hage been the absolutes worst experiences I have ever had in gaming period. Even if the only bugs were broken quests bugs (which no mods exist to fix anyway). Anyway, personally, I'm just glad you were brave enough to write the thread - in the midst of knowing that you would get some sort of backlash to a degree. That's honorable and pretty cool regardless of what anyone says. I also love the reaction and reading everything gets more and more entertaining while on the crapper. Most importantly: In the end, I'm sure the devs read your thread and were thankful for the feedback and even moreso for your honesty to public announcement. That took courage and you were valid to make those criticisms as you have time in the first game and bought the product, though I disagree with judging a new product based on the older model.
  18. That would be balance breaking. Revolvers are always overpowered in games... the only difference would be magazine clip but even then causing unbalance. There is no such thing as a 'magazine clip'. There are magazines which are what AK47, AR15, Glock pistols, and other weapons use. And then there are clips like what the Garand battle rifle from WW2 used. Yes, my mind spaces out as I was just waking up. I know how the revolver chamber works but the fact remains the same. The revolvers have been overpowered in virtually every game they've been in with overpowered stats, which was the point - not the other magazine vs ammo topic.
  19. Oh my.... oh dear. This escalated quickly. I suspect this thread may be locked soon, due to crucial matter of opinion difference. Edit: Catching up on walls of text, seems like the thread may not be locked after all
  20. More of Prototype 2, I'm addicted!! Lol
  21. I am a huge Obsidian fanboy, but it wouldn't be honest for me to say that Obsidian has had the best record. Sure I love their games, they will always remain on top of my list but they hadn't always made the best decisions in the past and that was the reason for them almost shutting down at one point. For me, I would never base an upcoming game/sequel on it's predecessor. I don't think just because the last game was good, the next one will be because they are two completely different projects with totally different variables. So I would expect different results. In case anyone is thinking "Why did you pledge then? You surely don't seem hopeful by coming here saying that you are not optimistic." My answer will be: Being optimistic is no better reason to pledge as the next, I pledged simply to be a part of the fund-raiser. As I said before, I'm a huge Obsidian fanboy but I've become kinda an impulse backer, if a game interest me, I'll back it but this one particular - I like Obsidian as a company more than their games. The crew is made of fun people who propel their fans, that was enough for me.
  22. You probably already have them but don't forget to buy the charm that tells you exactly where you are on the map and the quills which marks places you've visited (stag stations, hotsprings, merchants, etc).
