Yes. It's not a matter of the style or genre but the actual tracks themselves. The ost served the game (Pillars 1) well but the tracks weren't memorable - at least to the vast majority of people who played it. For that reason, I'm not expecting anything amazing for Deadfire but something at least tolerable. It's rare that a widely known game has a bad ost now days.

So essentially you're saying you want two sets of difficulty settings: One for combat resolution (like we currently have) and another for story resolution? In essence the latter ranging from "You are the hero of everything and everyone loves you, ever choice you make is ultimately vindicated" (Mass Effect, for short) and "Haha you talked to this guy in act 1 now he's killed everyone you loved in act 2 out of spite" (Like the original Witcher and the Walking Dead had a horrible thalidomide baby)? Interesting but would be even more work than different combat difficulties I think. No, I meant if rpg's had more respective ahd relative consequences to player actions and choices then I would probably play the hardest difficulty rather than a lower difficulty because for me, it would be worth playing. Allowing players to play 100% passive without consequence is not good no matter how we look at it. We just haven't gotten there yet for the type of experience that treats players like they're not dumb in some way or another. This has nothing to do with difficulty being reliant on story or combat. If you're wondering what I'm talkimg about specifically, my prior comment before the last gives an example. We're not there yet bit the closest thing we have now is Kingdom Come Deliverance which is another genre (what I speak of is not tied to any specific rpg sub-genre anyway) KCD is a step in the right direction at least.

It was okay, it wasn't amazing especially when pitting it against other ost's. It did it's job for creating a daunting atmosphere for Pillars 1. That's what counts I guess. It didn't make me get the feels like other game ost's - and there are so many out there. Now, I keep listening to this video, which is some ost from Deadfire's beta and I'm reminded of early 2000's Jrpg for reason of timing, the beat, the instruments, etc... https://youtu.be/0EHwOgHlub4 Ignore the comments on the video though. They went a bit overboard (maybe?)

I was thinking alot about the "passive players" comment and was debating whether to write this entry since there is always a debating force on the forums but ultimately I decided it had to be said. My thoughts are that if a gamer accepts everything and treats everything passively in the state mentioned, then it's not because they "want" to. It's more than liekly that they don't see a point to diverting. It really comes down to knowing that the game will not penalize you for choices you make in dialouge. The consequences in rpg's have always been... underwhelming compared to other genres in the gaming industry. (Someone will probably read this and assume a different interpretation of my writing so I'll give an example.) Example 1: You have a secret admirer, you reject the secret admirer a'plenty, secret admirer gets bitter and turns on you, leaves the party on their own free will and attempts to frame you for murder later in the game, police arrest you and you must spend a good portion of time doing prison work with no ability to skip sentence (per usual, as the norm in games with wait option or other features to fasten time). This type of scenerio has never really been put in any game. Example 2: You are a master thief, you steal from a house when the owner is away and nobody sees you - normally where you are successful- in this case, the owner comes home from work, notices something is missing, reports to authorities and a conduct an investigation, later a private investigator finds the player and if the player still has the item they stole, they're at risk for arrest. Example 3: Romances to be treated as respect. You (speaking to any member of the forum) do not want romance that's easy to get where there is no sense of "Wow. I worked so hard to be here and finally she says 'Yes' to me." Companionship and romances in video games always felt a little stepford wives-ish. There's no transparency or even more importantly, reltability as games have never been able to replicate the feeling of a real relationship. It's possible but difficult to achieve because there are alot of risks. The important thing to remember here is that rpg gamers have accepted and made the robotic response of npc to player romances the standard of romance dialogue. It's sad. This level of detailed realism and interactivity is a much needed thing in rpg games. Surely realistic and logical situations as such would make the games better but maybe tech hasn't caught up, in the matter of respect, if that is the reason then we'll be there soon. Penalizing the players is hardcore, but lends a sense of reason and responsibility. To be more careful with their decisive actions in game and in dialouge. I know that this idea wouldn't go over well with casual rpg gamers but that doesn't mean it's wrong. This is the only way we will move forward in rpg story wtiting and freedom to the player. And as such, this type of complex narrative interaction will be the future of rpg games in general.

I'm an rpg fan, pillars is my favorite game but my main genres are third person action, 2D platformers and fighting games

Yes, he was born a human but that doesn't mean he's still human as a vampire. And when I say made up, I mean fantasy or fictional. His body is far different as in vampire form than it is in human form so it doesn't make sense to classify him as human or anything close just because he used to be at one point.

The character in your avatar is wearing nothing but that cloth wrapped around his face, you know. Raziel goes full frontal at all times. So you suggest I change my avatar before commenting?I think he was trying to downlow tell you that your hypocrisy is showing.Except there's no hypocrisy. People are talking about human nudity specifically and Raziel the reaver isn't human.Or maybe I'm missing the sarcasm. How could you profane a priest by turning him into a eunuch? Is the priest human? Or a made up race surrounded by things we don't really know about? I really would need more info to than that to give you a solid answer. I mean again, nudity is different meanings for different species.

I'm not offended and not a troll lol Unless you consider trolling by asking you how you or the other guy thinks I'm hypocritical for having Raziel as a picture if he's not human. If you can't answer then there's no shame in that. If we're going to say that every living thing that doesn't wear clothes is "nude" then we'd be lying. For example, animals not wearing clothes have never been considered nude, even with a coat of fur they have their bits exposed to the world. As Vampiric species are actually closer to animal than human, it also made me question where the logic was coming from. So I was just wondering, it made me laugh but is also interesting.

Sometimes when people don't know when they stop, they meed to be punished to "make" them stop. Some time in the fridge should help them think about their ways

This thread has become an inarguably unwinnable joke and should be closed. There is nothing further for serious discussion and joking about nudity in any case, for any reason is complete rudeness and lack of self control from any member. I hope you all are ashamed of yourselves. Also not sure what crawled up my arse today but that's not the issue here. I'm here to complain about the forum members behavior and the jokes about nudity which make this forum look even worse than it already does.

I was being completely serious.... Killing is killing. There is no law against killing/murdering animals which invade your home or attack you. At least not in America and this happens quite often, more than any of us would think. And very brutal too. The other day, I saw a young man trying to shoot a roach with a pellet rifle. Should it be illegal? Yes. Every living organism lives, breathes and has a soul, every animal benefits the ecosystem. There is no place where nudity is accepted with the exclusion of somewhere like nude beaches but if we want to get specific and say "Somewhere in the world there are civilizations where nudity is the norm" well I mean, yeah, there are actually more places where canabalism and murder of one's own species is the norm and is encouraged. And the answer is "No." There are just as many games if not more games on Steam which feature nudity than violence. We are not in the 90's anymore where violence is dominant in the gaming industry and nudity is a rarity. Just click on the nudity or sexual content tabs on Steam's store page (yes, Steam has "nudity" & "sexual content" tag) and you will see what I am talking about. If anything, nudity is even coupled with high violence but this does not make the two relatable or comparable as some people want to believe. It's not that nudity is a rarity in gaming which causes people to ask for it, it's that people expect it. If devs don't do it, they beg or demand it and say "Why isn't it here when it's a standard?" There's also raging hormones to consider and the socially inept shy kids who are not great at talking to women in real life so they live it in dating sims which are thousands of games where players are rewarded with waifu sex and nude/hentai pics if they make their drawn gf's happy. What's more is that the exaggeration of blood and gore in games has never been intentionally to be over the top, devs can't shoot real people without self defense so they do stuff like shoot a watermelon, and try their best to replicate it but it's always beneficial to the game. For example, Wolfenstein: The New Order... in nearly every serious review a writer will say something similar to "Duel-weilding guns feel satisfying as they pop nazi's heads off and do damage to the environment". This helps the atmosphere, the level of expected realism as well as the experience. Nudity and sexuality in games is exaggerated for stimulation of the player's mind which (obviously) boosts sales as a marketing tactic. This is common as it is in movies. If it's over the top in video games like rpg's and visual novels, it's not beneficial to the game but tricks the player into thinking it is because they like what they see. For the game it's pointless but not pointless for sales.

Nudity and violence couldn't be more opposite ends of a spectrum. While I see the comparison if violence and sex and/or nudity in games often being compared, I don't think it's quite the same. There are different purposes to nudity, most involve something sexual. There is only one purpose of blood and gore, which is to represent death. In most instances, you're hacking away at npc's to survive for some reason. Very rarely do games allow you to do such action for no reason or without consequences (in GTAV you can run over people and get away with it while most games are more like Witcher where you can't kill innocents, it won't let you). The blood and gore itself is simply for anotomical reasons of the artistical nature. Murder and killing is sadly a part of all world cultures and societies alike... we hunt and kill animals for food (again to survive) and have to gut them to ship meats. Wars happen, wars are normal, it's just the strange way of balancing power and has been ever since the first war that ever existed. In all cultures, this is the same truth. Sex and/or nudity on the other hand, is a whole other beast because the rules and how it's viewed are constantly changing of what's being accepted or unaccepted in society even though there's nothing new. You may not be aware - but there are actually people trying to defend pedophilia now because they want visual novels to feature fully naked flat-chested tiny women on (other) forums, there are also people who fight censorship when imported games come through. It's gotten pretty terrible. Point being that there is a demographic that begs for pointless nudity in their games based on pleasure and some kind of sexual gratification, featuring nudity in a game always give those type of people a chance to continue seeing people as objects. You'll never see a group of people who seek out games fir blood or make a community group just for talking about blood and gore but you will see something like: http://store.steampowered.com/curator/5941109-Flat-Club/ To my knowledge, there's never been a movement of people asking for blood, gore and giblets in a game but there are thousands of threads asking devs for them to add nudity and romances in their game. Strange. I suppose while we're at it, we should compare foul language and drugs to nudity and violence even though excessive language is completely different from either. Alcohal should be discussed as well. Fighting for your life and fighting well, is never cheap. It's self defense so no need to defend violence as no defense in needed. However going through dialogue and picking all the right choices for a 4 second nude scene to make the player "satisfied" is pretty cheap and never feels like it truly has a point. So

I was the person who complained about romancing naturalism, realism and respective nature of it and that wasn't at all what I was referring to but I'll bite... I'd say they would leave your party in real life. When rejected, the other person doesn't stay close to the person who pursued them. They move on because the relationship becomes awkward and weird. And the type that actively persues is never rhe type to handle rejection well. I've never really heard of someone sticking around and traveling with someone as so, at least. There comes a point to where persistence becomes begging which becomes creepy, for all of us. Nobody here is going to say "I'd give anything for a hot guy/girl to persue me persistently" unless they're unstable/desperate for that kind of affection - which is unnatural. The love for the stalker type and tolerance for someone who keeps persuing isn't normal, the protagonist in a real life Eora would be saying "Stop it or you're out" or even at an angrier point "I'll cut your tongue out and feed it to the dogs if you keep pestering me" depending on your character's personality. You'd be surprised just how much someone's pestering/deseperation can reveal their other personality traits often leading to paranoia or other red flags and that is not be trusted and this affects friendship. In real life someone who is not trustworthy would not be recommended to the party. Would you have someone in your party who is hopelessly in love with you? Yes. Okay, now how about after you've rejected them for a number of times? It changes things a bit - or at least it would for a smart person. Anders would have time to think on those feelings in real life and maybe plot to kill or sabotage the protagonist out of anger and bitterness. Above all, there is a job to do and in real life Anders would be easily replacable but it's a game with limited people unlike real life so I should probably cut it some slack. This is just my outlook, don't mind me. Edit: So my coment about that didn't have to do anything with the same sex relationship. Maybe I should have clarified it in further detail. Oh well.
