  1. I guess that could work; but there needs to be some space vehicle, a probe shooting out, a space battle, a passenger ship getting ready to board, etc. Just imagine the beginning of a SW movie. perhaps it could be the little 'battle' scene where you're blacked out? Who will be the attackers? Though I doubt 'the find yourself in a ship under attack, then crash land' scheme will appear again since obviously that was Kotor 1. Besides it's an astroid, I guess you can only crash into it, not crash-land! If someone safely makes it to the astroid, who's that pilot, then? Kotor Koans to meditate upon, until the game comes out. :D :D :D
  2. Very much related to the question how we end up with the Ebon Hawk is how the game will start -with that I mean the blessed moment when installation is over, you run the game, with shaking hands, click through character creation, behold the title card 'A long time ago in a galaxy far far away' with a pounding heart, read the rollup entitled "Knights of the Old Republic - Episode II The Sith Lords" as it 'crawls into infinity against the backdrop of the sea of stars'.. and then: what? the classic Star Wars opening sequence in space, of course, but how is that going to relate to us starting on the asteroid? is it going to be a space battle in the vicinity of Peragus? a space freight headed towards the mining facilities? It's unlikely that the main character will start on a seperate ship -isn't he supposed to 'find himself' on Peragus? So, who is it going to be, that will ride the spaceship(s) at the opening sequence? It's only in ESB that the starting sequence in space is restricted to the probe that fires into Hoth, which is really where the film starts. In all other episodes, the film starts inside a spaceship, during some sort of conflict in space, and Kotor followed that example very well. Any ideas as to how the Kotor II opening sequence *in space* will relate to our character and how he find the Ebon Hawk?
  3. No: KADIR AS A JOINABLE NPC for those who don't know, Kadir is the Janitor in the Taris building where your hideout is located. He's invincible: I kept trying to incite a big fight , but he countered my every teasing word with a wise remark; and he emerged victor, without resorting ever once to brute agression. In other words he employed the Master Feat of Fighting without Fighting, which those who have seen Bruce Lee's unforgettable Enter the Dragon will remember.
  4. ---I moved this post to a new thread---
  5. Was it not the assumption in Kotor that Revan and Malak as they went for the quest for the Star Maps for the first time, used the Force to directly leech from the mind of a sentient being his language, and be able to speak it right away? That's an ingenious way of including in the game so many different aliens all speaking in their native languages to the main character, which, though it had its limitations (!), was a great feature of Kotor. Now this new PC isn't likely to really speak 'all languages' -unless he too turns out to have unusual learning capabilities. Does that mean we'll encounter fewer aliens who'll speak to us? Are they all going to speak in galactic basic? If they do, I guess the amount of voice art will probably increase greatly. So I find there's an interesting situation here: What is the alien language policy for TSL?
  6. I guess it's likely that there will be a Kotor trilogy the plot of which will turn out to be inspired by the workings of the original trilogy. In a 3rd KOTOR episode however, I wouldn't want to see a Star Forge II -let's admit that the Star Force doesn't really mean much for the fans, aside from being a Death-Star clone; and the whole concept of the endless factory and the quest for it gave a quite simplistic, linear bent to the kotor 1 story. With TSL or a following episode if there will be one, I expect a much more involved central quest, than just picking up star maps, which you know are there, and to which, it's never too difficult to reach. Besides it's something that the Sith 'found', not developed by themselves. So they'll either ask the Rakata to build it again, or it's gone once it explodes! So the next great space battle of Kotor, if it takes place in the 3rd Episode, will have to be fought against something else, not a 2nd Star Forge. and please no Ewoks either.
  7. Given the context of the game, it's not likely that the character can get 'more beautiful' as he/she falls to the DS. Going ugly is easy: Yellow eyes and purple veins around the face. No one will deny that looks devilish, so it goes well with the game. It was a fun feature of Kotor, I wouldn't mind seeing even sillier evil faces in TSL. It's not the last of the cliches in Star Wars.
  8. If new face models are being done for Kotor, we should also expect more imaginative ways of getting Ugly as the PC becomes devoured by the Dark Side. Green skin and yellow eyes were nice (!), and one PC grew a beard which kind of established a sense of virtual-adventure-time-scale. How about having a sagging face a la Palpatine? That would go well with the Hoods, which it appears we'll be able to sport in TSL. Anyway, which hideous faces can you imagine for your character? Perhaps the devs. could implement some, if they still have time.....
  9. But without an Yoda, or so it seems so far what if it is the white-haired woman that fulfills yoda's role? :D
  10. Test Models is the word. I believe all screenshots are like that. In the Kotor I pre-release screenshots of Taris you see the PC using a lightsaber.
  11. The Ebon Hawk we encounter in this 'mining facility' which is practically an astroid field -which sounds like a place for hiding, or evading pursuers, as Han Solo demonstrated well (!) in his escape from the Star Destroyer. Perhaps someone related to Revan, (or even R. himself) who for some reason took T3 with him/her, was on the run or sought to hide from whoever the pursuers were. Perhaps he/she was travelling to a planet, carrying important info. (which is maybe where the droid comes in?) to someone important. Obviously he/she failed and was taken away, or killed, but the ship remained in that hideout. It could be a chance incident that our new PC gets to ride the Ebon Hawk in the first place; but what got the ship to Peragus will be gradually unveiled and that's how our new character will plunge into the main conflict. Now wouldn't it be nice if whoever it was that took the Hawk and T3 into hiding among those asteroids, actually recorded a message inside the droid, of which the discovery-deciphering will be an important quest? ....help me Master Vrook, you're my only hope.... ....help me Master Vrook, you're my only hope.... ....help me Master Vrook, you're my only hope.... :D
  12. The Star Forge played its role well as a Death-Star clone, I think we should move on. The massive fleet that was already generated will be enough of a headache.
  13. She ended up a dancer in some Hutt's palace
  14. Mira's somewhat of an enigma for now, a bounty hunter with a heart of gold :D Probably there's going to be a very involved side quest to reveal more of her 'interesting' character. I hope Kreia doesn't frown like that all the time and takes the hood off, at least from time to time; yes it's nice to have hoods as a clothing option but a main character shouldn't look like an oversized Jawa throughout the entire game. The very identity of the white haired female has to do something with the plot. She's featured on the most interesting concept art, and she's been the subject of threads like 'Bastila vs. Atris' yet no one has even seen a rendered in-game image of her. (What if *that* turns out to be 'ugly'?) Forgive me for my ignorance but has it been confirmed that she's a party member? With all that halo around her I wouldn't be surprised if she turns out to be the Force Incarnated.
  15. and/or it could be that during Kotor 1, they waited for the Sith Lord-wannabe pretensious fallen Jedi, i.e. Malak, to destroy the Republic with the Star Forge; only then to eliminate him and conquer the galaxy more easily, now that the Republic and the Jedi were out of the way. Now this idea sort of works with both endings for Kotor: If LS, then they saw that they had to deal with an even stronger Republic -with Revan at their side- by themselves, and wreaked havoc on the Jedi during those mysterious '5 years'; if DS, then they either challenged Revan and killed him, or, used whatever it was that initiated his fall in the first place, to render him inert, sending him into exile, whatever. Maybe they joined forces with Revan and Bastila. Remember that there was no mentioning whether Malak and Revan ever faced a powerful Sith as they 'rose to power'; and the only one Malak ever challenged was Revan, and that was an act of envy rather than their master-apprentice er.. 'tradition'. I think they were *definitely* around during Kotor 1; with the second episode we'll start seeing this greater picture.
  16. I think that's a good idea; that way the game wouldn't be a constant fight against the Sith throughout. In Kotor I you were supposed to be Revan after all, but nevertheless worked as a Republic agent all the way. Though it was all a struggle to get to the Star Forge and find Malak so it wouldn't have made sense to have our Revan hunt some Jedi in the meanwhile, but still, the whole game assumed you were on the Republic's side no matter how 'evil' you got.
  17. I'm looking forward to this villain, but .... what an awful name. Why give a strongly suggestive (!) name to a Star Wars character who probably won't have anything to do with any such connotation. What's this, the anti-Christ of Star Wars? It's just funny.
  18. like they could plug in a jack at the back of your neck, and the training program would open..... wait, that was another movie....
  19. I felt the Czerka sub plot was left incomplete by Bioware, and all we got to see was sort of its shell, that's why it was boring. Perhaps it was one of those things that, like the reference to the Swoop Bike upgrades that weren't there, were added at some point and then left undeveloped except for the slavery bit on Kashyyk.
  20. thanks, that *is* silly of the walking carpet, by the way. I guess one has to know the limits, of what he can expect from Star Wars. It's *pure entertainment*: The merry escapades of Laser-Sword wielding space sorcerers inside well-designed exciting environments -the slightest pretension on the part of the story to go 'profound' as regards a 'philosophy of the Force', 'psychological depth of so-and-so' etc. becomes annoying. One 'intelligent way of being a good guy' is accordingly a less pretensious one. As opposed to the pretensions of the Jedi, the Sith were arrogant bastards in the first place who begged not to be taken seriously, that's one reason why it was more *fun*. Why I'm bringing this up is that the DS options don't seem to have really satistied anyone (could it be that they 'gave into greed'? anyway...) , but I thought the LS options were downright annoying -all those silly niceties; the so called eastern-philosophy parody of a Force-'philosophy'-caricature; the assumption on every Light Sider's part, that DS is way more appealing, and consequently their *arbitrary* adherence to the Jedi, etc. etc. etc. No single Jedi had a reason for being on the LS, other than that DS is, well, the DS; and the great myth of the guardians of the galaxy somehow worked. I don't know about the EU but the *original trilogy* never fell into this trap, and it managed to stay pure entertainment throughout -how many Force-Lectures did we get? A few lines mumbled by Old Ben in his hut that later got paraphrased by Yoda on Dagobah. -oh, and of course, you were supposed not to give into your anger. We didn't see Luke helping old ladies across the street either. Perhaps it does steal some from a full experience of the plot, but with Kotor I found the LS annoying most of the time. if TSL offers more intelligent ways of being a 'good guy', then I'll play LS as well.
  21. It's possible with Force Persuade, though I don't remember at what state my character was in terms of skills, etc. What I'm curious about is how it's possible to kill Zaalbar.
  22. With the Ebon Hawk we should be allowed to do more smuggling. There could be Kidnapping or Rescuing quests as well.
