  1. Well destroying a planet need not mean blowing it up like Alderaan; in fact before the Death Star that wasn't possible anyway; that's why -I believe- the Death Star became the ultimate terror machine for the galaxy. Something along the lines of the Taris destruction would be nice; if not, then a great fire, spreading an epidemic, flooding an entire continent, turning the ocean into acid, bringing about the extinction of a species that will ruin the planet's ecology, etc. would do.
  2. did you see how he walks around the boards and stamps the examples he likes? like an emperor! I like the lightsaber-Kryptonite-staff idea though; let's have Kotor II have it before the film....
  3. I'd be delighted to have the opportunity to destroy one planet myself, or bring about a huge environmental disaster (far greater than the sea poisoning on Manaan) as a Sith Lord.
  4. 'Winter' actually sounds funny; for something that is going to have spesific release date, they're speaking as if it's vague as a holiday plan: Yeah, for this winter we're also planning to release a game, we'll see...
  5. er... please do allow for a game to start getting less exciting and maybe become boring, the 6th-7th times (?!) you're beating it. I don't think this is in any way a weakness of Kotor. It's not like Tetris or Civilization which is designed to be infinitely replayable. besides when the original really becomes tedious one can always start doing silly stuff with save game editors, cheats and mods. Things like walking around in Taris in Revan's robes, or bringing down Bendak Starkiller with a single strike of the lightsaber, things of that sort.
  6. I see that I'm not the only one who became frustrated because he couldn't sell Zaalbar to the slavers on Kashyyk
  7. I can't quite imagine how having an apprentice would work. At what level do you get one? To what level do you train him? It would be ridiculous to have an apprentice while the character himself is level 5; on the other hand it would be frustrating in more than one way to take one on, as the game is heating up towards the end, and deal with him while trying to beat the game, and then leave him at level 2 when it's over. There would also need to exist quests, or a significant part of the main quest would have to involve your apprentice, so that taking an apprentice would be *reasonable* at all, and wouldn't remain an inert 'feature'. What the devs. have revealed so far is that master-apprentice relationships will play an important role in the story; that doesn't necessarily mean we'll take on an apprentice. My guess is that the plot involves a big DS master - LS former apprentice confrontation, or one between a fallen apprentice and a LS master. That's where I think the 'master-apprentice relationship' will fit in.
  8. If I'm remembering correctly, either by a Dev. on this forum, or in an interview, it was confirmed that "____ seems troubled maybe you should talk to him" screen won't be there. I'm taking this as a hint that member interaction will proceed along different and hopefully more advanced mechanics in TSL. and why not have a spy, as party member? -I mean one that is spying on *us*.
  9. One thing that made carrying around a 9-people team around somewhat tedious in Kotor was that some characters were really *needed* for only a very short period, and then, it didn't matter at all for the flow of the game if you had them with you or not: Because the central adventure of Kotor was absolutely linear, and any side quest -which is where the unique characters of party members would enter- was a nice little diversion and nothing more. Carth is 'useful' only as one descends into the lower city in Taris; Mission, Zaalbar and Jolee open gates. You could do away with Juhani right in the beginning. The game could be beaten very well with only the droids, Bastila and Canderous; and these were the only ones I kept in my team. What I'm getting at, is that with Kotor II we may expect side quests to really mean something for the main quest; again there have been hints as to the possibility of this. That, combined with the new features of 'turning' members, falling into disagreement with them, having Side-spesific team members etc. really make me hopeful as regards better interaction with party members *who are actually 'needed' throughout the game and not while passing a gate*. 'Interaction', of course, has to include early-slaying of people who no longer mean anything for the quest. (and Light Siders could actually benefit from the same thing, by 'firing' their darker members, or eliminating them lest they present an obstacle before the salvation of the galaxy!)
  10. I always thought you would end up causing a short circuit and electrocuting yourself, while wearing armor and trying to do force lightning.
  11. while criticising the thuggish ways of the DS in Kotor, do not forget some of the truly great DS gems: the electrocution of the Duros in the Sith base on Taris; brainwashing the merchant on Kashyyk into multiple murders; force choking the Sith captive at the Manaan Republic enclave; making the Mandalorian captive speak, and then killing him, at the Sith academy; Slaughtering party members and especially Mission; and the Romeo&Juliet conflict on Dantooine -that was the greatest; a great, ingeniously devised massacre under the nose of the Jedi council. Bounty Hunting on Taris wasn't too bad either, in fact that included one of the most evil things you could do; killing that girl (I forgot all names) who intending to protect herself, injured a gang member who wanted to rape her, and had a bounty placed on her head. Even stealing the Wraid Plate from the desperate woman on Tatooine wasn't that thuggish, since her lines were well written. Fooling the 'hopeful' waiting at the gate of the Sith academy into attacking the guard was also nice. With the more flexible party formation feature, it should be possible to incite more fights between 'obsolete' members and watch them expire themselves.
  12. that's the 2nd video; you ought to look at the 3rd which is actually what leads into the fight in that clip
  13. actually there are quite strong hints as to the possibility of this idea that you're bringing up. It's already been confirmed that party formation won't be as straightforward as in Kotor: Clearly it's no longer the 'Take these 9 people and bear with them through the entire game' principle, which becomes all the more superficial since characters stick on you because they helped open a door at some point.
  14. E3 stuff aren't supposed to reveal anything about the story so I doubt whether this indicates a game feature; and that feature ought to be that one should be allowed to kill off party members whenever one wishes: I'd love to kill Carth right in that Taris appartment. Mission and Zaalbar right out of the Taris undercity. Jolee as soon as he opens that energy shield. I'd have liked to kill Juhani over and over in that grove....
  15. Isn't that ridiculously big for an 'engine'? Looks more like the inside of a power plant.
  16. Keep your brothers and sisters away from the screen sounds good to me. The kids can go see Episode III, the rest of us can play a mature rated KOTOR II. Cheers! I second that emtoin. I agree though it ought not be forgotten that graphics alone can't make the game dark; if the story and conversation options don't allow for real devilry, fearsome graphics would seem out of place. One minute you perform gimmicks out of Hell, the next moment you ask the Ithorian's pocket money: that doesn't work; that's what I meant. One other thing that doesn't work is nitpicking on a couple of screenshots. This game is Force-Draining My Wits!
  17. keep your little brothers and sisters away from the screen when that Force Rage is in action. It's creepy as hell. What's with satanic force powers and a living corpse as villain; sure they're great, but... is that the attempt to make the DS actually Dark?
  18. I too think Kreia may well be the one who gives the character a sense of purpose, though it doesn't necessarily mean she'll tell the team where to do right after they board the Ebon Hawk; but the idea that she may be part of a secret Jedi rebellion sounds less interesting to me in comparison to our character really being burdened by the great responsibility that he may be the last of the Jedi, except maybe the wayward old mentor, well into the game when he finally meets another powerful Jedi (white haired mystery?) If Kreia is sent on a Jedi mission, she'd most likely be 'taking us' to the Jedi hideout, or, she'd give us a Jedi mission right away which really sounds unlikely given the hints we've got as to the new PC going through some sort of a self discovery, reclaiming his lightsaber, etc. It would be nice to see the PC really earning the sense of purpose, during at least some wandering. another thing is how the infamous 'starting interview' will fit into this Peragus adventure. If I'm remembering correctly, it's going to be a dialogue with Atton that will set the parameters as to the Kotor 1 ending: I'm not sure whether this idea makes any sense or not (!) but why not have the 'interview' as the ship I speculated we could start on, is under attack? The PC, ignorant as he is of the mad state of affairs, would start asking the pilot questions who screwed up the galaxy, and that would be the starting interview.
  19. another question is where do we go, after we get on board the Hawk? With Kotor it was easy, Bastila would take us to the Jedi council on Dantooine. How about TSL? I'm bringing this up since it corroborates the theory that our PC and perhaps Atton were already 'going somewhere' right at the beginning of the game. Or is T3 going to tell us where to go? That would be too simplistic, kind of a sudden entry into the main adventure; whereas the PC ought to be gradually immersed in the conflict.
  20. yes that sounds very interesting though the infirmary scene smacks a bit of the Matrix 3 beginning Also there's the assumption that Kreia and Atton have been keeping track of the new character; it seems unlikely to me either that they knew anything about the new character or that they were conducting a Jedi rescue secret operation. It's been confirmed that Atton and T3 will be the party members picked up at Peragus but is that true also of Kreia, has it been mentioned anywhere where we meet her? though I like the idea that a party member will start the space sequence. If not Kreia, then perhaps it's Atton. Isn't that supposed to be the Han Solo clone? A reason could be found why he was passing by the astroid field. Maybe our character hired him as pilot, to take him from wherever he was in exile, back into the galaxy, but on the way they were ambushed, got hit, and barely made it to the mining station where they found the abandoned Hawk.
  21. remember that OE is trying to make the game enjoyable to folks who haven't played Kotor yet, so I doubt it.
  22. well aside from the Questions to the Devs. thread, which one of the threads a) is useful b) does not start with a far off speculation or unanswerable question, then settles on totally irrelevant exchanges of jokes? Aren't we all dropping by here to see if someone caught any new info., and then end up making a mad speculation? Isn't Kotor II already devouring endless hours from the fans, months before anyone will ever get to start spending his yout.... err.. time... on the actual game? Therefore, Long live the Trask lives thread, Long live speculations pertaining to Hendar, and Kadir, and yes the guy behind the mask is JOLEE.....
  23. Is that a paid service, the 'LA insider'? Are they beginning to sell the new info?????????????
