when the E3 videos were released, it was made clear that this character is one of the available player characters -in this case, she looks evil. It must be either a dev., or Mike Gallo in an interview who said that for the E3 demos, a LS-male and DS-female types were prepared; this character is apparently the E3 DS-female. We've yet to see an in-game shot of Atris.

Well, iit's an interestign suggestion - the reviews that tells of our first encounter with Darth Sion may be a hint in that direction - first, we're told that lots of that dialouge was taken away for the sake of the preview. And also, for what reason would one of the Sith Lords even talk for a longer while to you if he's supposed to be set at destroying you? <_<. Imagine the VAST implications of this on replayability, if this speculation has a grain of truth; if we're given the chance to choose between becoming an apprentice to a Sith Lord or to resist the offer, that means there are two additional replay-opportunities no less distinct than playing DS or LS. An interesting combination would be to play LS yet seemingly join the ranks of the Sith in order to destroy them from within.

I doubt whether the main character will be the 'last known symbol of the jedi'; that sounds a bit too ambitious for an exile who was out of touch with the force for too long a time. I believe what is meant by the 'last known jedi' is that perhaps the main character himself/herself will be convinced of this, until a later stage in the game; and it will be only when he/she becomes, well, 'powerful' that the Sith Lords will become aware of the existence of another powerful force-wielder -not right at the beginning of the game. Maybe then, a Sith Lord will want to take on our character as apprentice; and he'll make great efforts to seduce the character into the DS proper. The Sith Lord and the main character will then work against the other sith lords and the republic ---if you accept the offer. If not, you fight against all the Sith Lords.

Which KOTOR Ending Will Be Used?
Sabahattin Dere replied to Rubber Ducky's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
EPISODE I The Deterioration of the Forums It is a dark time for the FANS. Although a new TRAILER has recently been released, new topics of discussion have rapidly withered; leaving the members aimlessly musing on effete questions. It is about time that OBSIDIAN releases a bit of new information on THE MASKED GUY, or a party member, so that the FANS do not perish, of boredom...... -
It's a teaser trailer would you make it better
Sabahattin Dere replied to kobsidious's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
with the new cloak animations, seeing the masked guy in action will be awesome; especially if he has his own characteristic animations.... -
I'm lacking the terminology to properly state the 'criticism, but has anyone else got the feeling that on the screens featuring Onderon, the environment looks sort of incomplete -more like an advanced sketch? Or is it the bright colors and the abundance of open spaces which confuse me? by the way one of the guys with the shoulder robe appears in the trailer to the left of what I presume is the main character. (00:38) Could he be a party member? It's a weird line up there: A sith officer and a mandalorian in the back, this guy with the shoulder robe in the front, and a DS-looking main character.

How are you planning to buy KOTOR:TSL?
Sabahattin Dere replied to Paladin's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
There are none where I live; so I'll have to ask a friend in the US to buy it for me, then I'll have to pay ridiculously expensive shipment fees to get it here. In any case it'll be at least a couple of months after it's released, before I have it. I'll try to stay away from forums and the like so as not to get soaked in spoilers! -
Last time I checked, the game is called: KOTOR II; so it's hardly surprising that it looks a lot like KOTOR. The 'difference' between the two games is that they have different stories. No one expects to experience hidden revelations while watching a simple trailer. However, since people who tend to get over hyped about KOTOR II are the fans of KOTOR I, they're likely to also get excited about the slightest improvement in the way the character holds the lightsaber, or cloaks, force power animations, etc. It's not that 'they saw a new game' in the trailer, that people are getting excited; in any case, 'the new game' is the 'new story'.

Making a showcase of which was I think the very purpose of putting this trailer together.
-
Probably because our default play-through character wears them It's left over from the first game and shouldn't have been in the trailer. But then again, I don't think they expected you guys to go through it frame-by-frame Thanks a lot for clarifying that; I take it as a proof that this is only the 'first trailer', which is its excuse for looking more like a draft at places.

Why is the official site the last to add the screenshots???
-
Mike Gallo says in the last interview* -what was much later than the E3 video-: 'Winter' (* -forgot where it was, game spot maybe? the official site must have the link)
-
I completely agree. That must be because this is an early trailer.

My theory on the Masked Sith's identity
Sabahattin Dere replied to Kill Jar Jar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I tell you it's Jolee -
While it does look great, the trailer is hardly more than a showcase of crowded fight scenes, and line-ups of party members. I presume a more refined trailer, or trailers, will appear as release date approaches.

I guess this pretty much settles the question whether we'll be able to 'join the Sith' or not. What I deduce from what the narrator says is that we'll be able to join the ranks of the Sith, and not just become another evil agent. Well I guess the LS will be really oppressed in this episode; I was an absolute darksider for Kotor, but to me this sounds promising for an interesting treatment of the LS theme. Instead of helping youths get married, the jedi will be fighting for freedom this time. Definitely more interesting.

Please make Dark Side more enjoyable
Sabahattin Dere replied to corebit's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I don't think it's a big deal to have few consequences in such 'local' cases as the woman with the wraid plate; on a larger scale -that which concerns how you actually undertake the main quest- 'shallow consequences' go hand in hand with a greatly restricted number of possible actions that one can take. It's a great limitation imposed by the fact that Kotor is a computer game, and implies basically that there is one rigid way to be good and one rigid way to be bad, and one way to get to the star forge, and one way to beat malak: I'm not saying this is a shortcoming of the game; it's just that this is the extent Kotor allows a real role-playing experience. In the above post I didn't really mean that what 'lacked' in Kotor was that we weren't allowed to not only take the wraid plate from the woman, but also sell her into slavery. That is not the 'problem'; I wasn't even bringing up a problem. back on topic, if there was ever a 'problem' with the DS in KOtor, it was that the 'give me money' school of evil overshadowed the really evil deeds -that's it. -
here's what I found: the full article: http://www.theforce.net/rouser/essays/chestplate.shtml

Yes, but on the other hand, Malak has been sort of canonized because the official entry on Dantooine now mentions his having razed the planet. Still it's weird to have Carth and not Revan on the Databank! :D

as far as I know, or better still the way I imagine it, crystal acquisition is an important, even ceremonial matter for the Jedi; doesn't sound like something that drag racing thugs exchange because of its high 'market value'. Remember the only time you 'bought' the crystals was on the space station, because that Rodian had found them on Yavin IV and put them on sale along with other 'stuff' that did him no good.
-
I can't quite connect swoop racing trophies and lightsaber crystals; how about new Force feats for the Pazaak champion? seriously speaking, having access to special crystals at various points, and not just in an obscure space station at the end of the game would be nice. Maybe defeating a Sith Lord will give powerful lightsabers, crystals, etc.
-
I think what has been revealed so far is *very* promising; so at this point I can't find anything to dislike, and there's much to be excited about. After the game is released, as it was with Kotor, I don't think there will be things that are downright 'badly' done, but as always everyone's free to have his own opinion of how it might have been made better.
-
I was about to say that I don't like the blatant parallelism! also the word 'revenge' implies that the Sith have suffered some wrongdoing against them in the past; since we're meant to see the films from the Jedi point of view, 'revenge' doesn't sound much appropriate. Interesting, though.

Sabahattin Dere replied to Darth Sun_Tzu's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion

Where GL gets his inspiration from!
Sabahattin Dere replied to Darth Sun_Tzu's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Is it GL tht writes this Clone Wars cartoon series? Is it any good? There's no chance it will get aired here. (I guess I saved to myself half an hour each week) This is too silly; there are many people out there who take all this SW history very seriously -it's thanks to them that this vast SW industry has come into existence. While it may be a fine way to mock this fantasy universe, it's somewhat disrespectful. I used to tease my D&D playing friends by coming up with fancy 'fantasy-world' names that were based on silly stuff like this, and they were offended; that's the same kind of thing here. I loathe Scooby-Doo anyway.
