I had to do some sort of a trick to beat the terantateks but again the fight looked so lame: I ran to the corner opposite to the hall entrance and activated the lever that opened the door beside it. I barely made it to the room and hid behind the statue in the middle; in the meanwhile the terantateks got themselves stuck, performing diverse dance figures in front of the door. I employed various force powers to slowly take the two beasts down, without getting hurt at all -but Revan the Dark Lord hiding behind a statue to zap his foe, waiting to be recharged, continually cursing that he forgot to take his grenades..... humiliating.

The fight on the Leviathan wasn't really a fight so it's irrelevant if he was 'difficult' there or not. On the Star Forge: I think that depends on character class and stats. I completely forgot about my own stats but it was Scoundrel-Consular and the first time through it was really difficult; I ended up running around to steal time for medpacks before charging him for a brief time, and then start running around again. If anybody else had seen that fight, they'd never support me as the Dark Lord of the Sith; it looked so pathetic.

Please make Dark Side more enjoyable

I agree with what you say on roleplaying -though I've had too little experience with rp games-; however I don't think Kotor allows *that* sort of an identification with the character. You're basically unraveling a story, not creating it, or at least changing it; which would be the case if the actions of the main character in effect, had the consequences in the direction you 'felt' were right. LS or DS actions have shallow consequences, the most important result of which is a pop up window that says 'xS points gained' -and the quest for the Star Forge continues all the same. Perhaps even more importantly; the silly and pretensious brand of wisdom/benevolance that is *imposed* on your LS character doesn't leave much room for a full role-play. How is it possible to identify oneself with the character if there's one unchanging way for it to appear 'good'. It's the same with DS; but with DS you aren't asked to take things seriously, the mock-Force-philosophy being absent, and all the Sith and Dark Jedi being laughable arrogant bastards (I'm talking about the game). All I want to say is that Kotor was not that type of a game, in my opinion. Now if there were a SW RPG in which it really meant sense to feel for the characters, *then* DS or LS decisions would have made a difference. On a side note, though: With TSL this might change a bit; perhaps I'm expecting too much from the new party-members interaction, but if they really respond to your actions in a way that's not superficial, then it might be the case that making LS-DS decisions start to have more meaning, and at least alter in some ways how the story unravels. -and it can't be denied that at least as far as party members are concerned, people do 'like' or 'hate' them; so that's another reason why their more intelligent interaction might be a step towards really 'feeling for the characters'. In any case unless the cheesy benevolence of the 'good' in LS is improved, it won't appeal to me. -
A name for the masked dude

wait! maybe he's not killed, and he escapes at the end. That's why 'we'll be looking into a sequel' Does it have to be the case that all bosses are killed before the game is beaten. -

Sabahattin Dere replied to corebit's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
the DS is the more enjoyable way to play only because it's not meant to be taken seriously. Unlike LS, where following a pretensious mock-philosophy you're meant to feel for the sufferings of computer-game graphics, the DS only asks you to be a spoilt brat, and that's it. Don't tell me you had to 'feel' something for the woman with the Wraid plate!!! -
I do expect a better story in TSL, because the main quest in Kotor was too flat: The sequel has to have a better story.

Maybe it's a Darth-less name, for the sake of variety -
What do you like in KOTOR?
Sabahattin Dere replied to Exar Dulo's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I agree on the story being 'sort of stupid', and consequently the central quest appearing to be completely linear, dry, and flat. If it weren't for the diversity of side quests (i.e., the 'diversions'), the 'Star Forge' idea would have become a huge fiasco. Not to mention that the plot twist is at the verge of being downright banal. Yet at the same time the game captured the SW feel very well, which is I guess why everyone fell in love with it; given the 'proper SW feel' an intelligent story *almost* becomes irrelevant! -

Darth Skeletor -
It's interesting that of all the Kotor characters, only Revan and Malak didn't make it yet to the SW databank on the official site. My bet is that they'll be added after more is revealed about them; *then* their stories will become part of canon, I guess.

I wonder if a team member and the main character can actually compete for a romance; then become rivals, then enemies. At least the main character can become jealous, etc. small improvements that would make the romance option less err.. boring. (but imagine how much more he would be hated if Carth were to make advances toward Bastila. Perhaps too silly, it should stay out of the game!)

I wonder if massive snow storms are included in the new weather animations of TSL. If so, an ice planet would be nice.

How many more KOTOR games will there be?
Sabahattin Dere replied to GhostofAnakin's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
well the devs, commenting on the TSL ending, have said things like "you'll really be looking into a sequel"; which is what unleashed the hype about Kotor being on the way to a Trilogy. I think in emulation of the movies, Kotor may well be a trilogy, because 1)It's going to sell well! 2)They're unlikely to push the story too much into 4th, 5th, etc. episodes, given the practically inexhaustible amount of material-available time scales in the SW universe: So they'll stop at 3, and maybe make more SW RPGs that take place elsewhere. -
they're the Invaders-with-a-Chinese-sounding-Name into the Mock-Medieval-European-Realm-with-a-Japanese-Dressing of post epVI SW

besides the Star Forge fulfilled its role as the Death Star clone, and that's it; it can't be allowed to dominate the second game, which it would one way or another, if it survives.
-
No it's the fans who have already decided that there will be a Kotor III! :D :D :D :D
-
kotOR belongs to its spesific time period, of course; but given that a Kotor Trilogy -*if* it becomes one- would probably become a huge success, it's perfectly feasible that similarly styled games can be designed, that take place at various times-places inside the SW galaxy. and by the way this is sheer madness, this SW business means an *infinite amount of money* for Lucas, it's his star forge. The material is simply inexhaustible, and there's no end to new generations of fans emerging.

no offense anyone, but these are discussions that have been long exhausted in the threads of the remote past. Speculations actually get tiresome in time, due to lack of information, and the sheer impossibility of anyone 'divining' the complete story, based on small local questions -which is all we're able to ask.

Taris was the Coruscant-Clone of the first game; seeing Coruscant in TSL would be great only on the condition that it doesn't become the Taris-Clone of the second episode. I bet at least one planet familiar to the movie fans will be added; that sort of helps a more 'coherent' SW-experience for people. Planets from the EU are great; but actually visiting Tatooine in Kotor, and even more, learning about its history were quite nice. With no Sand Planet this time (thankfully), I expect a visit to another interesting movie-planet in TSL.

that, and the sight of a bare arm appearing under a creepy cloak like that is a bit odd. I thought bad guys were supposed to wear gloves, etc. -
well in Turkish, the word 'Malak' means: A Water Buffalo Calf enough said, this alone is an obstacle before total immersion in the game. The name 'Sion' has totally irrelevant connotations as well. Please name the characters after vaguely suggestive, 'slightly altered' English adjectives. GL knows how to do this right.

I don't think anyone needs anything beyond this forum. The Developers are here; and any new bit of info released gets to be promptly announced in Official Announcements. Not to mention that people around these boards really know about SW, games, etc. unlike many other boards I was able to take a peek at.

Chris Avellone has repeatedly stated that LA made it clear emphatically at the beginning of the project that big plot twists were to be excluded. Instead of a huge twist, what I think will constitute a big revelation factor in the TSL scenario will be that we'll be informed much further, concerning the original conflict, Revan, etc. which will start disclosing a 'bigger picture', of which we've yet seen only a part -and that, from the point of view of a single character. Though I like the idea that a party member may be a spy, working against the main character; but not something as great as 'the' main villain!
