  1. So what would you use instead? Well if you look at D&D for example there is only 1 stat that is really important for a mage and that is intelligence (or charisma for sorcerer and bard) and it doesn't increase damage, just chance to hit with its effects. Other stats are also important for a mage, because they have so few hitpoints, like dexterity to avoid damage and strength has a limiter as well in weight limit. There are no real penalties for a mage in POE if might wasn't an important stat. If you want to change this in POE you'd have to change much more than putting intelligence as its main focus. Because then it'd be too easy to build a mage type character and min max him that way. In POE mages and such aren't squishy enough to force them to build different stats. A min maxed wizard in D&D starts with 4 HP, while a fighter or barbarian can start as high as 10-18 depending on stats. That's a major difference in survivability. Wizards get strong defensive spells especially later in the game, but they NEED them to stay alive vs any type of offense. This is never an issue in POE. Especially because stat growth except for HP is the same for all characters. That is actually a major design flaw if you ask me because at higher levels all these base stats don't mean much anymore. In D&D the only growth you have in stats is HP and chance to hit. Anything else comes from class feats, equipment and buffs. Also a wizard can wear full plate and only be slowed down a bit in POE, in D&D you can't do that. I'm not saying D&D is better, I'm saying POE has some polishing to do in terms of how it deals with stats to make the classes more unique. As it stands, with the limited attributes available and the way stats work any character at level 20 is basically a super brawler.
  2. Perhaps it is described as physical OR spiritual strength, but it is implemented as physical AND spiritual strength. You mean like in scripted convos? I'm totally not an expert in this field lol, I just have no difficult seeing Might as meaning mental power. In DAO they had magic, but if you were an arcane warrior it just translated it into physical strength. In Pillars any mage can be something like an arcane warrior afaik, so it seems to me that having 2 different stats would both restrict player freedom and present lots of characters with an extra stat they can more or less ditch to pump another. If you want to look at it more simply then look at it like this: if you want to become stronger physically then you need to spend time working that body. If you want to become stronger mentally then you need to spend time reading and researching. You can of course do both, but you'd have to spend less time on both as well. In the end you can only train a few parts to max. That's the whole idea of stat distribution. To mimic what a person has apptitude for and what he trained for. The game treats it as if reading a book gives you more muscle and lifting weights gives you a better understanding of the arcane.
  3. I think the creators should really stay away from creating a game that is good to solo. All nerfs/buffs should focus on party play. Creating a game that is ok to solo and actually focus on it from a devs perspective is a bad idea. I think rule of thumb is that if a game can be soloed when it was intended for party play then it is too easy.
  4. I think the story itself is fine. The only thing that is lacking is the main characters involvement. And I mean actual involvement. Hunting part of your soul is kind of out there and doesn't really do antyhing because the game doesn't focus on the lack of it either. Also the open world gives no incentive to continue the story. It's not as bad as Fallout 4's: "Where's my baby!!!!! Ooohhhh let's grow some crops.", but it is still bad.
  5. If anything they should prevent some class specific passives/abilities from stacking with passives/abilities from other classes rather than nerf the class itself. Because now you nerf not only the multiclass part, but also the pure class. Multi classing has no real penalties so it stands to reason that most people will pick this. This isn't really a good thing. In another post I stated that all abilties should be tied to powerlevel and scale as such much more than before. This will force people to think harder on multi classing. Also remove stacking on certain combinations and you're all set. But this is probably harder than nerfing a single ability so I do understand the choice. It is ultimately the wrong choice in my opinion, because in the end you'll be nerfing/buffing a whole bunch of abilities taking more time than a simple redesign of how multiclassing works.
  6. Can anyone explain why cleave stance is linked to a fighter when it was one of the few things that made barbarian unique? Also does anyone know if cleave stance and barbarian carnage stack?
  7. Actually steam will not remove content from your account and they may ban you or even remove your account yes, but they will only do so if you really go out of your way to abuse the system and cheat to make other peoples lives online worse or you know, do something illegal. If you're a normal user you seriously have nothing to worry about.
  8. Except that the game series POE tries to follow did exactly the same thing and was hugely succesful with it. Both BG and BGII sold an equel amount of units. Perhaps those were different times. Perhaps Forgotten Realms is more interesting than Eora. Who knows. I think it has more to do with the quality of the game you made before and if that PC character had something going for it rather than if it is a continuation or not. Also Mass Effect.
  9. Please answer me this honestly, are people asking for tuning so they can complete this game on PotD solo and need a challenge?
  10. I see, but still if there is a quest I can pick up and it doesn't sit well with the choices I make (RP wise) then I should be able to RP it in a way that does sit well with me. There are quests that do that and allow you to switch alignment/side. The pirates for instance you get to choose Furrante or Aelys and the Huana you get to poison or assist. My Watcher was the helpful kind so I wanted to assist everyone who had a good reason to be assisted. So as long as it didn't involve murder/slaving I was ok with it. You can complete a lot of quests that way. And bounties. Well those aren't murder if they attack you first, or if they were bad people that needed to be dealt with. I RP with what I get, not choose what to pick up because I know beforehand that it doesn't belong in my selection of quests, that doesn't really do it for me.

  12. I think that's the Animancer's Blade. It's actually called the watchers blade. And I really have no idea where I got it. It has a raw damage lash by default which can be upgraded Here I found it on the wiki: https://pillarsofeternity.gamepedia.com/Watcher%27s_Blade It's bonusses aren't anything amazing. I just kept it because it looks great and has a cool name.
  13. Cipher(Soul Blade)/Fighter(Devoted) multiclass. Stats are level 20 no buffs except food (hot razor skewers).
  14. Ok I had to load up the game to look this up, but they are called double bronzers. Range is 250-350, reload time 8 turns, damage 12-15. I checked Neketaka and they sell them for 700 each. Ah yea, I do remember them, but I never got them because the range forces me to move forward 3 turns in a row in most fights before I can shoot effectively with them.Although with more experienced gunners 400 range should be sufficient. What's your experience? Your example works with the movement as well. Fire -> Jibe (3 turns) -> hold (1 turn) -> Fire (1 turn) -> Jibe (3 turns) -> hold (1 turn) (9 turns so guns are reloaded) -> Fire.
  15. As painful as it might be to imagine this I would rather suffer a hit from two weapons being dual wielded than a hit by a two handed weapon in real life. It just feels like two handed should deal so much more pain...
  16. Ah ok, yeah I had him in my party till I was level 20 and then picked up Fassina who was vastly superior to him in every way and so I didn't have him with me when I went to Hasongo.
  17. Where did you get 12-15 damage guns? I couldn't find any guns better than 8-11 anywhere. And the best gun I had was Haefrics nose because of range and damage. The other ones were Royal Bronzer, but they have a range of 400.
  18. Two weapons give 100% weapon damage bonus and you want only 25% for two handed? It should be at least 100% damage bonus for these full attack skills to be close to useful damage wise.
  19. I second that. I did like 95% of side quests probably, discovered full world fog, cleaned every Island/dungeon etc to get level 20. What was left for me was Ashen Maw and whatever after. That was on my solo runs. I didn't do many bouties as I didn't find them that interesting, but still. I have to say game does it job quite well. You have to almost clean whole game world to get that 20 level and there is not much left for you to do to enjoy that power which is basicely every RPG ever created. Once on max level- you have not a lot of left to feel your power. Same as in paper RPGs, everyone want to get to that max level and be strong and then usually after couple of more seession- everybody want to start new characters as there is not much left to do with max level heroes who are basicelly a Gods in most RPG settings. I have to say- if you have that- you kind of hate RPG-recipe. Usually you have DLCs to let you enjoy that max power later. How much game was left in Morrowind or BG2 when you got max level? Only Expansions after that let you go with your maxed Char and have challange again. Imo in terms of XP- POE2 does very good job. The only thing for me it doesn't do right is control when this XP comes available. I did do all the bounties I could find. They give a lot of XP. When I was at level 19 I was wondering if I could get to level 30 or even 40 because I only did like 3 main quests. When I hit level 20 during side quests before even glancing at the main quest and learned this was the max level I got kind of disappointed. And level scaling didn't seem to help. The main quest was riddled with enemies with stats in 40-50 range. Fully self buffed, my PC had like 135 Deflection without even using a shield.
  20. It's not about having the skill to cast a spell to make you physically stronger. It's about requiring to be physically strong to cast a decent spell. The problem with Might is that the lore doesn't seem to require physical strength to cast a spell. When people complain about Might they seem to dislike that their character that they see as being physically weak yet spiritually strong, has access to dialogue options that showcase their physical strength. I'm saying that they could view their character as magically making themselves Stronger. @ Abel As I said, I understand the complaints, but it's really not that far fetched an explanation, considering that sadly a lot of role-playing in all crpg has to be done in the head. Trust me I get the annoyance and I wish in general that non sensical options didn't exist. It's the way people across like you're forced to pick them that irks me. I'm pretty sure they also complain about being able to pummel your enemy with a stick as well. But it's true that you can always roleplay your way out of a bad game design choice. Thing is. I don't want to have to do that.
