  1. I finaly managed to make a main character who has relatively low mental attributes(for a non-minmaxer, of course). But another of my Idiosyncrasies is making a normal build then switching some attributes around. So instead of uping at least Resolve or Per, I made a character who is a damage dealing warrior with 16 INT. WHY? ps:It is actualy working well. Outlander's frenzy per-encounter is very helpful for mid-high INT warriors.
  2. Alright, this is everything I want in a RPG, but since it wasn't an option I voted for WoD and PoE2.
  3. Something I forgot: I can only play male Watchers if they are Pale Elfs or deathlikes, for some reason.
  4. Nope. The in-game models are very limited.
  5. The Watcher must always be the party member with the greatest sum of points invested on mental attributes. That is why they are the leader of the group. Exception: Watchers with 17+ Resolve.
  6. *You* can't. *Durance* can.Lol. Must be the high Resolve.
  7. How can you stab people with a staff, of all things ?
  8. The recovery bar? It is most likely because you are playing on expert.
  9. Very well, I admit I often take simple things too seriously.
  10. My over reaction. You started this with the "killing people in their sleep" strawman. I've made my point. Feel free to reply, but I believe it will be better if I leave this thread. And I was not angry.
  11. Maybe the words "self serving nihilistic device to justify all manner of wickedness" rubbed me the wrong way. If you mean no offense, don't write such things, especialy when discussing something as deeply personal as morality. And I don't think I ever said that I am a dude. Or that I am not. I am curious if you assumed I was male for some specific reason. It is in a gray area, which means that the morality of it is up to how you interpretate the facts given, make assumptions from them and assign priorities to certain moral goals. That is why there is discussion about it. It makes sense that people have diverging views on the situation, but your last posts seen to imply that you believe that those who think that chaining Maerwald's soul to the Keep can be seen as moraly good under the right light are in pratice a few steps above being completely amoral. I am not saying you really think that way, but you could try to soften your words, to not give such impression.
  12. Now, that seems uncalled for. I mean, that is a criticism that could be applied to any argument one disagrees with, by seeing a lack of morality where there is just a different moral point of view. Maerwald has no choice either way, reencarnating or staying in the Keep, and there is no evidence either way for which would cause more suffering. We only know being released gave immediate peace to him, not how he feels about becoming an eternal guardian, so I don't think it is out of question for the Watcher to feel turning the rope into a chain is not a bad thing. Plus, it does not sound more nihilistic than sending him to the Wheel.
  13. Oh. Nice to know, never explored that area due to starting a new game every time I give DS a try.
  14. What could be worse? Solaire and Lucatiel mimics? Toxic Wheels?
  15. I disagree. By binding his soul, you could be in a way preserving him from the chaos of the Wheel and the chance of awakening again to his suffering. I do not think he would still suffer, if only because a insane guardian is a very poor one, and in part because I got a sense of serenity and purpose from his decaying bond to the keep. I also don't think the "chain" means he is a slave. Yes, he cannot choose to leave, but he couldn't choose to stay if you sent him to the Wheel, and a chain can hold you down but it can also keep you from falling. In a way, I see his destiny as becoming something like the Steward, but more silent and hidden. While it is a moraly ambiguous option compared to the "clean" option of returning him to the circle, I believe a well meaning Watcher could reasonably choose it without feeling guilty.
  16. The enchanted I think. The one that deals magic damage that scales with INT.
  17. Actualy, I finaly managed to make my way back after saving said damsel in distress, after many tries and some Decoy cheesing. It was fun, and gave many big soul items :D. Now, destiny: Blighttown. Killed Gaping Dragon with relative ease (3 tries and all my gold pine resin ). I just hope I am not too far away from the arcane ember. My +4 Halberd just aint going to cut it anymore.
  18. Capra Demon Wheel Elite Anor Londo Archers Dat mimics... By the Flame, people shouldn't give them ideas.
  19. Only one evening? Still playing Dark Souls. Killed Capra in less than fifteen tries with no cheesing, saved a pyromancer and dove deep into the Catacombs to save a damsel in distress. Now that she is safe, I am trying to run my way back from the Tomb of Giants because it is way beyond what I am ready to face, but Hell on Whells either kills me or gets me so weak the skelletons finish the job with one hit. Still my favorite game ever.
  20. Personaly, I only use respec if I made a build error because I am not familiar with the class. The idea of changing your build for easier leveling feels wrong for me for some reason.
  21. Rot Skulls!? Oh my goodness, I want this on my Wizard. It is not that useful. The DoT doens't work on foes immune to dicease.
  22. Decided to give Dark Souls a try once more, since I love the game yet always re-started before ringing the second Bell. Is it even possible to beat the Capra Demon without cheesing? After cheesing my way out of everything with the Decoy sorcery, I wish to beat the bastard with a direct aproach.
  23. True. Sometimes level-scaling has its value, but take it too far and you may as well remove leveling. Now I kinda want to see an RPG without leveling.
  24. Truth to be told, I have the same problem with most RPGs. What helps with PoE is that there are many reasons for your character to believe their problem is not as grave as Maerwald's. The old Watcher was his own son by rape and burned down his village as revenge for burning down his village. Plus, he lived in Caed Nua, while the player only stops there once in a while, so the influence of the Master Below was much stronger. If you roleplay your Watcher as someone who sees their power as more of a blessing than a curse, or who thinks insanity is still many years down the lane, there is little reason to follow the Leaden Key in a rush, instead of investigating in a steady pace. EDIT: ninja-ed
  25. You are a Watcher, not a washer. Nothing will make you stop feeling the smell of his soul.
