  1. Alright, thought this earlier, why not a super agile wizzie who uses lots of shock spells but isn't afraid of that bouncing bolt of lightning because he's so ridiculously agile he can dodge anything. Possibly fists, or just the azureith's stiletto. I've yet to see a build for or use electricity spell based wizzie Edit: Ahh I see, upon a second look there just isn't enough lightning spells for the wizard. Damn.
  2. I like to pick one or two elements and stick to them with my mages, or go buffed up offence or defense, things like that usually lessen the amount of spells I'd use. Big fan of corrosion ice mages.
  3. So Bo (Boeroer), nothing you'd update? Where would you add stunning shots, and what companions (story) would you like for this build? And um, how was your day?
  4. Not really needed imo. It's very easy to achieve that on your own with the help of your animal companion. Micro intesive, yes, but one of the main benefits for going into melee range as a ranger. The rest of your post is very valid. As for the animal companion (max dps): either wolf (single target dps) or stag (aoe dps) - the rest sucks. True story. Meaning what? Sometimes I feel like I don't understand flanking as well as I should, I thought it was totally based on targets engaging with enemy.
  5. I noticed this graph is off now, at least in regards to gloves of manip at the bed and stalkers torc near wolves in the vale. relevant because it used to be the earliers torc you could get for builds like this. https://www.dropbox.com/s/6undqgpuzwsk9g1/PoErandom-no-pics-1.01.xlsx?dl=0 Any thoughts on stunning shots, doesnt that work in melee now? What would you substitute for it if at all? Anything else you'd change knowing this is one of your older builds.
  6. You are thinking along the lines of using or wanting to use it often, I just mean thematic purposes and once in a while in oh **** moments... still no?
  7. Wouldn't a fire godlike do well for the scion of flame frontline version of this build? Seems a fun substitute for that helm tbh.
  8. too bad quick switch is so tedious, also I noticed if you switch and choose an ability in the same pause the time to next attack is slower, so you need to quickswap, wait for bar to go to zero and auto animation to start, pause the auto before it goes off then choose a strike (this made me bench a 3 guns 1 sabre rogue that otherwise was a blast).
  9. wm1, its never worked for me although I am usually just trying to use it from the companion druid. This seems wrong.
  10. I tried this build and although it was REALLY fun and great utility, single target damage in the mid to late game and amazing accuracy it REALLY needs more dex. 10 dex was just too slow for the amount of buffing and debuffing you will want to do before getting into combat.
  11. Surprisingly one of my fav builds, my only annoyance with barbs is Frenzy and Shout isn't instant; hard to feel like a front liner when you're pausing twice as you run in.
  12. Doubly? doubtfully? And I'll be the judge if +20% dmg and -5 DR is worth while on reny and seven nights.
  13. Tried that Aumaua 3 guns 1 saber build and I noticed if I quick switch just right from my second (x bow right now, gun later probably) to my 3rd slot saber RIGHT after using my second crippling strike when I have my sabre in hand I have 2 new crippling strikes. Weirdness, happens about 15-25% of the time
  14. I definitely need to try a higher con build, I don't mind and do often wear heavy armor on monks, probably also need to work on my placement in formation. It wasn't a problem of me trying to make a Shaolin character, that was never the case. Loved dwarven monk/XXX dual classes in Never Winter Nights.
  15. I love evasive, fast, active melee characters. Evasion, stealth, flourishes and alpha striking are my thing. Also anything with lots of actives and not too much reliance on auto attacking. I do not like ranged much no matter how effective it is I find it hard to play a caster or ranged character for long in any game. PoE stealth is just too clunky and situational for me and they lack anything to make up for it, and I downright hate the idea of having to be someone an enemy can never engage. Having my beefier friend take the hits for me while I stab you in the back is just not ... cool? I like the escape ability and early to mid game-play with the strikes for melee rogues, ranged rogues work well but as I said, can't hold my attention. Sidenote; I think tyranny did a good job by shoring up defenses with talents that make one defense cover 2 types of attacks. Made it great to be a dodgy or parry type without being too weak. I spend hours theory crafting and reading the builds of my betters, and spamming pm questions to them (thanks Boeroer for your patience these past few months!) just hoping with the right abilities, build and items I could come up with a build. Possibly a beefier rogue (please dont ask me to go shield and weapon rogue, ewe ewe ewe) with items that give fighter like actives is an avenue I should peruse.... but nothing has hit home yet. Monks, they should be perfect for me, but I just can't manage my wounds. Either I never get them and then am autoing which I hate, or I spend too much effort trying to keep my frontline monk alive. The Anvil build seemed the right way to go but I think it is better for solo when you are being focused more. Either way its always feast or famine when I play the monk and I have a suspicion I'm not the only one. the story, nostalgia from my DnD PnP and BG days, and the discovery of the world keep me in PoE more then anything, but I am sincerely hoping for some melee love in the future. On the polar opposite side Tyranny seemed to have everything I love, till I realized how brokenly easy the magic crafting and no friendly fire made the game, and a story that just ended abruptly when the game should have been at the 70% mark made me never go back. When I played the BG games I remember thinking, 'this is it, this is my new DnD', I was right, and sunk eons into it. When I played PoE I thought, 'this is it, this is my new BG', 1300 hours later I love the game still but not the combat nor the char creation (I just can't make the melee MC I want to RP) so much. When I played Tyranny I thought, 'this is it, my new PoE', till the game mechanics became obviously easy to break the game, the companions didn't seem to matter so much outside of combat and then the story ended 15 hours too early. good god I am picky, I should have went into video game design. /endrat Edit: on the plus side, multiclassing will probably make me a happy happy man.
  16. The cape with escape in it is awesome for melee ciphers for closing distance, I only wish it gave the deflect too cause that with the + deflect cipher power would be siiiiick.
  17. As a side note if you dont mind respeccing in your games starting with a lower int and higher perc/resolve isnt a bad idea early game before you get the long pain. erm, whats 'TLF' btw?
