  1. Seems stats and classes can be chosen anew, I wager race has to stay the same or else the continuity would be weird?
  2. One thing I just can't do in this game is have a small finesse weapon in one hand and a giant shield in the other while wearing heavy armor, no matter how min-max it is.
  3. I also like how it shines from early midgame on, you have too many builds that I have to DRAG myself to lvl 13 to enjoy. No offense.
  4. Possibly one of the most useful builds, highly underrated compared to how many comments your other builds get, I dislike quick switching but still, love the speed, alpha striking, and tankiness.
  5. There are many tough variations of most other classes that stand toe to toe with rogues in Damage however. And require less micro. And have more active abilities. And better dialogue options. And a less situational class ability (stealth).
  6. Depends , rogues are amazing early bloomers but fall off very heavily mid game. Wizards are more powerful with more game knowledge, if you know the upcoming fight, its weaker saving throws and attacks it uses imo the most OP classes are Wizzies, Priests who don't skimp out on Dex. God I wish I could reroll Durances stats. Also can't stand early game Chanters, especially tank ones. They aren't bad its just a flavour thing. I have serious altitus and hours into this game and my thoughts...for me, if I'm to be critical and a bit harsh; Druids; love the spells variety and the effects, not a fan of how squishy Spiritshift is. Hats offto the Bat**** Crazy Build, so nice having a tanky druid especially with all the lovely cone spells. Wish there was more to do with level 4 spells, they aren't my fav Priests: I love all variations as long as they have Dex, with so many useful buffs having slow casts kills me, hence my hatred for Durance. The Berathian greatsword build with wounding (Tidefall), envenom strike and Cleansing flame is amazing. Hint, get decent dex and veterans recovery right away then all the acc stuff for GS. Ciphers; too many of their cool abilities aren't available to cast on self so I find myself spamming the same 4-ish powers, actually much more boring to me then I expected, also I HATE quick switch gun builds. Made a rogue like dual sabre cipher using a gun (one only, my criticism for quickswap is those builds with tons o guns), quick switch and escape from the cape of cheat used offensively was fun for a while. Barbarian; late bloomers amazing on paper, a little too passive for me, (not a fan of mostly auto attacking) also their shouts make them stop which kinda hurts the frontline rusher type builds. IMO not enough people use barbaric blow early game, makes the class more fun till it blooms at 13+ Rogues; stealth is not fun in this game and super impractical, but the flanker builds can be very strong, late game health values and spells kinda make them meh however. I want to like rogues so much, but I really just do not. Ranger: I can't get into it, constant damage over burst (even though its really good) and pure ranged isn't my thing, the Pet Melee Flanking build of Boeroer's really redeemed the class for me though, even named my wolf after my last dog I lost and smiled the whole playthrough. Wizard; amazing class, and this is from a guy who dislikes ranged, too bad spamming shadowflame is so OP. You can do anything with this class however, heck even I made a viable weird build with it. An electric based speedy melee fist using wizzie. And it wasn't terrible. Fighter; Lady of Pain build was amazing once I got charge, and built right even the tanks can do some damage, wish prone didnt fall off so easily and the scoprion like ability(?) had a better range and wasn't so silly with collision detection. Chanter: Not a lot of exp with them besides making Kana into a subpar tank with summons or worm spamming, feels gimmicky to me. I need to find a non tank build that uses more cones and less summons for fun. Monk: Should be my class of choice, tons of actives, cc, tankiness, mobility. Not a fan of the masochist tanky playstlye however. I wanted a dodgy martial artist.Woulds aren't my playstyle. Paladin: Like em much more then I expected, probably cause Fath and Conviction shores up defenses so you can make a dex based melee type without getting bitchslapped and one shot all day. They seem to have amazing cohesion with some unique items like marking etc too. A boreal Dwarf Paly is so much fun due to the acc bonuses and my hatred for spirits and wilder. I am highly looking forward to subclasses and dual classing next game (can we multiclass or only dual?) it leaves more up for imagination. A spiritshifted specialty druid with rogue levels for example. And I am really hoping for a slight boost in finesse type defense so all dex based melee characters don't HAVE to be squishy as fk flankers or weirdo dagger and shield builds only. /Endrant TLDR Priests and Wizzies OP Druids are just fun, not OP. Chanters and Pally's get great after a bit the rest don't jive with me as much as I wanted
  7. Totally doable but this guy's theme was built on things I didn't do before, and I do that for Aloth SO often its gotten old.
  8. Only problem I am seeing is he is a mid to late bloomer, but that's to be said with most builds, I'm just a weirdo and like the early game to be easier but don't like it when endgame is just a rick click to success snorefest either. Finished a quick potd run and had some iisues with getting one shot when I didn't have a strong frontline to engage with first so definately not a build for a 2/4 split (frontliner/ranger).
  9. I agree I should but I just am one of those players that dislikes late bloomers and passive auto attacking playstyles. Also not a fan of too much ranged, resting often and paper cannons, I know, VERY limiting and hard to please.
  10. I've never used stormcaller period! I like that it uses any weapon prof however and I can't see a chanter using the scepter. And twin stings comes so late. Edit, this is for backup when I can't get into a safe flanking melee position with Cladhaliath.
  11. A rogue talent, for every successful time you hit an enemy without getting hit you gain something, possibly attack speed? Evasion? A active parry ability that completely negates the enemies next physical attack? God I wish I could work in game balance/design. good idea except I would rather see like a light armor training talent thats available for all classes and something along the lines of.. for every 2 points (over 10) in dexterity now yields you (x)% evasion EDIT: while wearing light armor. Then evasion basically equates DR except you make it null (or loses some effectiveness) if you are suffering a status effect that affects mobility. doing that would still mean high deflection armor is universally better for defense but not the only "best" choice for melee characters. I like this, it's efficient and easy, but I do also wish more more cool but practical actives for melee classes.
  12. A rogue talent, for every successful time you hit an enemy without getting hit you gain something, possibly attack speed? Evasion? A active parry ability that completely negates the enemies next physical attack? God I wish I could work in game balance/design.
  13. I agree with you, but tbh it doesn't seem like you read what I wrote, or possibly understand what I am getting at. Another option would be a more active take on parrying / dodging; possibly a per encounter ability that for a short time heightens your defense; dodge, parry, or even a riposte ability would work well this way. Finesse types favor active abilities and PoE1 is seriously lacking those. Just spit-balling and I think you missed my mark.... but we could really use frontliners that aren't veritable iron clad shielded tank-beefcakes and or brimming with magical defenses.
  14. Coming along really well, get's really fun mid to late once you get more toys. Now trying to come up with a 1 hander skirmisher Chanter.
  15. I was thinking this and stormcaller for the accurate skirmisher deathlike chanter. Thoughts on enchants? He definitely would flank a lot.
  16. I was trying to imagine a one handed skirmisher type build, with with equal parts might, dex, int, death godlike whose aura melts his enemies; light armor and a rapier. No summons all cone spells. Seems like it could be fun.
  17. There's just too much grace in Tyranny and none in PoE. Lol. In Tyranny one handed light armer dodgers and parriers with illusion spells can avoid 99% of combat, in Pillars we hide behind heavy armor and shields and gads of defensive damage soak spells. A way to use finesse to raise our saving throws would be nice. Like a breakfall where you spin with a hit or something.
  18. I know it is a tough balance, like in Tyranny there's talents that lets all your non magical defense be switched to one stat, that's so damn op, but there are no really good defenses based off light armour/finesse in PoE. Maybe some kind of proficiency that uses light armour and Dex so we can have front line finesse types in PoE2... please and ty kindly.
  19. cladhaliath is here; http://pillarsofeternity.gamepedia.com/Cladhal%C3%ADath I am curious since I see exepctional in the options, does this mean you cant enchant it with exceptional later? Ie I was thinking of going with Marking, Coordinated and then enchanting it with exceptional and shock damage.
  20. So far we have two tanks (regen ice, and fire) and a swifty gun swapper. We need more imo. A pure summoner? A non summoner cone using beast A 1 handed finess character (iirc one handed acc gives a bonus to acc on chants) etc etc.
  21. Solo; Untested (and unlikely unless you're a masochist) POTD; untested (testing as we speak) Game version 3.0+ Intro; Flash isn't his real name, just his moniker from being a pasty white pale elf full of static electricity and an inability to sit still. He often speaks without any punctuation also, its annoying, and hard to understand. People tend to only take him in small doses. he is easily influenced by others and very reckless. Origin; Silver is someone who looked up to, and even idolized the tranquil seeming martial artists of the Nalpazca, but being someone who is easily influenced and rarely ever forms a coherent plan he went the wrong way and instead of studying arduously and with discipline needed for the martial arts he began imbibing copious amounts of drugs. He really did pick and choose what he thought "studying" was. Luckily he had a latent talent for arcane control, especially that of speed and shock and this came out of him unintentionally with all the drug usage. He still mimicks the martial prowess of the Nalpazca, but never lets go of his griomore, probably because he knows that's where his true power lies, even if he won't admit it. Race, any, however for some reason I picture a wild Orlan with uncontrolled static charged fur (Also his dismal Will save would be helped with the passive) I suppose, does the passives bonus get added before the will attack or after? Any thoughts on playing with a low will save? I haven't done it before on something as squish as a melee wizzie. Or possibly Pale elf if you want to put Bulwark on him often, both work as do literally all other racials. Dex and perception is nice however. Class; Wizzie Rile: backline cc and frontline skirmisher once self buffed, mostly electric damage with lots of speed and mobility Stat spread, you want to be able to do things like drop a slicken at your feet and dodge your own crackling bolt but also want enough acc to hit. Example with Elf; (Pale Elf) Deadfire Slave (should be interesting for POE 2 also!) I'd go Feisty Voice just for the theme. 17 Might 8 Con 20 Dex 15 Per 13 Int 5 Res Skills Survival 9 or 13 (speed or DR) Athletics 3 so you don't get tired or higher for some scripted checks that make you feel like an athlete (I do this often) If you got 9/3 this could be your traps guy. I don't feel like scroll usage fits the theme but if this build is too damn hard on potd I'll revisit. Talents And Abilities by level (testing order, it's changed 3x already) 2 Novice's Suffering, stop nuking and starting fisting asap. Um, yeah. (dmg is weak until lvl 4 so you could use wand early and swap this around but it just feels wrong to the theme) 4 Weapon Focus Peasant (acc asap) 6 Two Weapon fighting * can sub, you attack pretty darn fast already, I also like Fast Runner for Aru Breker/speed build. 8 Arcane Veil 10 Snakes Reflexes (hardned Veil if you wish) 12 Heart of The Storm 14 Vulnerable Attack 16 Apprentice Sneak Attack Gear, you want to boost your speed, reflex save, and possibly add some melee abilities. Narrowing this down is hard so I'll give a fwe options with the ideas behind them. Head Freedom Tempered Helm Armour Aru-brekr if you want to combine resting speed bonus and Fleet Feet spell to be 'The Flash'. This is my first choice as you will see some serious stacking speed buffs soon. Blaid Golan; works for the orlan wild look, great defensive passives too, possibly a little light on DR unless self buffed however Hand and Key; more DR, good defense against mind attacks Heldrik and Sanguine work also for defense and attack speed but you have deleterious so.... Feet Sandals of forgotten firar for ua dmg Boots of speed though this may be overkill And as always possibly Shod in Faith cause they are OP. I will likely try speed boots on first test but theres a self healing version of the build that should also work. Hands Many choices work here, + 9 deflection works as you are planning to take a wizard ring Swift action is always lovely for melee Gauntlets of Accuracy also works, not sure if they boost everything, ie spells and melee ??? Pilferers grip (+dex and -10% armor speed malus) since you're going very heavy armor especially if you are taking fast runner instead of 2 weapon fighting** Seigebreakers gaunlets can be fun for clear out, think of it as a "sweep the leg!" move Neck Cape of Cheat; Escape cape for those who love mobility. With phantoms and dimensional shift and speed boost im leaning towards this for some intense mobility. Fulvanos if you are going shod works well Cloak of comfort or protection are amazing for defenses Cape of master mystic for stealth lovers Rings Wizard ring (selonan) that gives 2 lvl 1, and 3 slots for plus+ jolting Touch and Crackling Bolt usage. And then choices are; Protection, especially if going Cheat cloak and deflect Bracers Wyrwood ring if you like to abuse web + lightning spells point blank and aren't getting immunity to stuck from the stag helm I've always loved the... bartenders ring early, in fact I always save the eothas temple till after I get this and go back for it, not to mention the damn lighthouse. Overseeing might be good cause we aren't boosting int so much but we dont have a lot of mass aoe spells that we aren't going to be point blank casting and hoping to dodge Ring of Thorns, lovely defenses and more Dex Belt Arthek's Cord; fun combo with aru-brekr and resting speed bonus Bountiful healing if you are going shod in faith and fulvanos, note, you should to infuse with greater essence often when self buffing with this gear. Binding Rope; once they are stuck electric spells work REALLY well Girdle of mortal protection helps if you aren't self buffing deflection much Bonus Spell Mastery lvl 1 Fleet feet for speedster, Slicken also works lvl 2 Infuse With Vital Essence lvl 3 Displaced Image lvl 4 Dimensional Shift All great speedster buffs for the start of every fight. ZOOM! Spells by Level Lvl 1 Arkemyr's Dazzling Lights or Eldritch Aim for POTD Fleet Feet Jolting Touch (parasitic staff )*** Slicken Yay point blank slickens. ***NOTE early levels (till 4 or 7) fist dps is weak, so you could use a parasitic staff till then, or tough it out, I was able to get to 7 just fine using fist but didn't feel very heroic in my damage when not casting jolting and crackling) Lvl 2 (this level the theme is a far stretch) Bulwark infuse with vital (will probably use this the most) Curse of blacken sight Bewildering Spectacle Lvl 3 Arduous Delay of motion (furthers the idea you are super fast and your enemy slow) Crackling Bolt Deleterious alacrity of motion Displaced image or repulsive image (you move so fast you look funny etc) can't decide Lvl 4 Dimensional shift essential phantom (using these two together are so fun and thematic for a lightening speedster) Pull of Eora and possibly confuse for now and the Llengraths mental shields later, your will is pooptacular, this guy is easily influenced. lvl 5 (theme is a far stretch at this level too) Arkemyr's wundrous torment Call to slumber Llengrath's safeguard (wonder what this does and does not stack with) Citzal's Lance Lvl 6 Chain Lightening Citzal's Martial Power Gaze of the Adragon Arcane Reflection Lvl 7 Substantial Phantom Killing Bolt Wall of Draining Warding Staff (I like that it pushes everyone away, including allies. I picture this guy hazardous to his groups health and they just have to deal with it) Lvl 8 Disclaimer, never gotten to use any lvl 8 wizzie spells so these are subject to change but... Superior Bulwark Caedebalds Black bow (is this any good?) Wall of many colours wilting wind Early Game POTD/newb tips; Buy Brigandine; play safe, disable or debuff right away or you will miss a lot. Consider taking Until you exit Cilant Lis and get lvl 2 your dmg AND acc (ty POTD saves) will be rough. Don't let bad things happen to Heodan. Save spells for the scripted fight with the leader and skip over fights you don't need in the ruins. Group Composition thoughts and Story Companions; Druid and either a soul shock spamming stormcaller cipher or ranger using the same bow would be fun. Someone needs to mark for you on POTD either Eder or possible Pallegina. I feel like this character would look up to Zahua and therefore should have him in the group. Eder Tank Pallegina for acc, heals, and possibly marking with pistol. Hiravias and possibly Zahua for thematic reasons I hate Durance so I usually hire a high Dex priest but you need one with a low will imo. Greiving Mother or Sagani with Stormcaller Aloth is too damn stuffy for Silvers liking and Kana with his stoping to read every damn book just can't keep up. Thoughts so far from those who have made complete thematic builds in the past
  22. The phantoms naturally do shock damage? does Heart of the Storm help? Probably not. If you buff yourself before summoning the greater phantom does it also have these buffs?
  23. Still editing, but I'll look at talents soon, then test it out and edit it more, seems a fun theme and we have no electric based wizzies, a druid and a stormcaller ranger/cipher seems a good idea for group mates. I'm kinda annoyed that even empty handed it seems like you can't put the grimoire away.
  24. EDIT, gonna repost this to make it a class build. Intro; Silver isn't his real name, just his moniker from being a pasty white pale elf full of static electricity and an inability to sit still. He often speaks without any punctuation also, its annoying, and hard to understand. People tend to only take him in small doses. he is easily influenced by others and very reckless.
