  1. Please check the [mechanics] Attack Speed thread on this very section of the forum. In short, yes it has diminushing return but as action speed tend to be more rare than damage ones (especially with weapons), it tends to be less critical than for might.
  2. It is planned that I would take parental leave to take care of our little one on my own for a couple of months, but I have also promised not to play during the day during this time... ^^
  3. With 2 weapons the cost is entirely refunded (unless it was changed). With max resources you can spam it over and over again for huge damage. Is it still true ? I heard that it was changed at the same time as other refund which triggered 2 times with dual wield (stunning blow I think). What happen with gambit with AoE by the way ? PS : sorry for being unable to test it myself. I have promised to my wife not to touch actual gaming for a couple of months because of our newborn daughter ^^
  4. This soulbound dagger Marux Amanth which gives ressources back with a sacrifice (can be soulbounded by a rogue !!!). The Paladin +2 zeal on downed ally is strong enough to justify single class paladin IMHO. Stunning blow upgrade refund mortification on crit. Chanter +1 all ressources Tier IX invocation. Gambit is half refunded on crit (which isn't that great). Fighter's toughened fury refund 1 discipline on being crit (10% crits). One sworn ennemy upgrade refunds itself when target is killed.
  5. Oh... Never trust the wiki... Or the description for the matter ^^ However, 4 per tick that you can stack... With ~30Int the chant would last ~12s. 12s means 5 ticks of 4 (due to 0s tick) means 20. So it's 20AoE damages triggered every 6s (not counting Mig, and AR...). I don't say it's enough to carry a build by itself, but it should add up with anything the chanter does in the meantime. I think it looks like a balanced chant (which is indeed a pale shadow of its former glory).
  6. The damages don't look that bad. 8 per 3s tick is okay, given you can have several active at the same time. Maybe it is underrated simply because it was so incredibly good in PoE1 and is much weaker now. Many OP tools from PoE1 have been nerfed (sacred immolation, carnage, twinned arrows), thus I am not sure that Dragon Trashed is comparatively that bad. Besides, in PoE1, it was often close to 90% of what a chanter did. Now a chanter can perform much more (especially if multiclassed) so Dragon Trashed don't have to be that good to be enough.
  7. They have lower hit points, so... Beckoner is nice with the skeletons phrase because the +1 phrase malus does not apply. It has some applications for niche build such as grave caller or to power the +2 zeal on downed ally from single class paladin (or both).
  8. Still no fix for wounding shot not doing 20% weapon damages per tick ? What has been fixed for beguiler exactly ?
  9. Anyway, be careful because Ghost Heart pet count as a summon and would prevent use of Druid summons.
  10. Inner death is not technically a "melee attack" though. It should not work.
  11. Yup, multiclassing streetfigher who gets a bonus when flanked with tactician who gets a malus when flanked seems nice. Ok with Modwyr and Fearless, the penalty could be offset, so...
  12. Skalds like crits... obviusly. Monks like crits too. Stunning blow, Heartbeat Drumming, swift flurry and enervating blows benefit from it. The better part is that Heartbeat Drumming and swift flurry trigger even more attack for more crits. So even without direct increased crit chance, it might work quite well. Max Per would help. It would help also the cheap AoE CC that the chanter get so it's a good synergy. 1-handed style is an option, even if it might not be optimal for DPS. Using a fast weapon adds up. Clubs and Dagger add +5 Acc. Rapier also add +5Acc and even has a modal that add +20 Acc (at the cost of attack speed, so maybe not ideal). Club modal would also help killers froze stiff. So you can get a decent Accuracy even without party bonus, maybe with a bit of party support. The number of crits also depends on attack speed, and monks have good buff in this regard. Finally turning wheel is very nice for chanter CC. I've never tried this build but I was thinking about it.
  13. When you pick multiclass, optimizing one class is usually less important than optimizing synergies. One might go Ranger/Skald to pile up accuracy for melee crits and just ignore the ranged stuff. However, when going Single Class, it's a different story. SC Ranger worths it for Heart Piercer and Imbue Deat, so you have to go ranged. SC Rogue worths it for Vanishing Strike so you have to go melee.
  14. The concept of a scaled megaboss feels weird. You're likely to fight him when you're 20 anyway. And upscaling AR is quite annoying...
  15. I wish it would be included with MS Office Pro Pack. So all my colleagues would know about the great glory of attack speed mechanism.
  16. I think the only problem of the Black Jacket is that Devoted is much more straightforward and popular for DPS build Instant swap between, for example, Wahai Poraga / Willbreaker / some arbalest / Flail & Board offers a lots of possibilities : alpha strike / debuff with modals / single target vs AoE DPS / offense vs defense. You may be using a shield and swap to 2-hander for a clear out. You may debuff all 3 secondary defenses (thanks willbreaker). You may alpha-interrupt an annoying wiz or even draw your arbalest as a basically free action while in melee just to knock the said wiz. It requires a bit more build-around but I fail to see the class as bad or limited to quickswitch gunswapping.
  17. 1) Pure Priests : As said above, a pure priest is always welcome in a party. However, Priest of Eothas isn't great because he only gets a couple of spells that other priest don't get. He is nice for multiclassing because he provides all the healing spells for free, but as a single class, you'll have enough ability points so it is not as important. On the other hand, the new priest subclasses, Priest of Woedica is really really interesting IMHO. All the Writ are really unique spells (especially the high level ones : mass enfeeble, disable spells or abilities) and feel a bit more active than healing. Dispositions don't matter much for priest, so provided you don't care about perfectly optimal stats, you may even play a Priest of Woedica exactly as a Priest of Eothas. Just pretend to play a "fallen priest". It totally makes sense lore-wise. 2) Pure Paladins : Pure Paladins are meh. Their most interesting specific ability is Divine Retribution which provide 2 zeal per downed ally. Including summons. Which means they may be able to regenerate their power pool like forever with the right support (chanter...). They also auto-rez and can basically rez allies for 1 zeal (3 zeal for reviving Exhortations - 2 zeal per downed ally). So they are kind of life-insurance. 3) Multiclass : There is are few relevant interactions between the 2 classes. They both benefit from Mig and Int, and that's about it. Minor Avatar may be nice for auto-attacking and inspirations are great to boost secondary defenses even higher than usual paladins.
  18. By the way, maybe Berseker Hit to Crit stacks because it's a MELEE Hit to Crit (same as how Melee accuracy stacked with Accuracy in PoE1) Or coded as a passive.
  19. Do Flanked deflection and AR debuff stack with other deflection and AR debuff ? In PoE1, Flanked stacked with everything...
  20. I remember you told that. I trust you, but I don't 100% trust that Obsidian won't change its mind ^^. By the way, is there weapons that have "guaranteed bounce" ? (bounce even when there is a single target, strike it twice) I heard that Fury elemental claws have this ability...
  21. The major advantage of spiritshift is indeed the armor, which is basically a Robe (0% recovery) with +5AR which is an enormous bonus. Ultimately it reaches legendary quality, so it doesn't fall off. Bears do get +2AR on top of that. No equipment comes close from this. So Spiritshift is ideal for any tanky DPS build. => That's why Goldpact/Bear is so great. However, claws on their own are overall mediocre, even with Wildstrike and endgame legendary quality, except for cat's claws, due to mediocre damages and lack of special. On the other hand, I think that Cat's claws are the highest DPS weapon of the game (with Wildstrike), even without Flurry. Claws work well with FoD. => That's why Paladin/Cat is so great.
