Then you get them on the next playthrough. Or you miss out on some stew in a secret location - yes, that's actually what I unearthed at one. Another one contained a bottle of spirits. Probably the developers idea of a practical joke, since these weren't random items. If someomne wants to find everything and all in one playthrough without putting effort into it, the Bioware stuff may be the better choice for that person. And what's that with the achievments? Yes, you don't get them for finding stuff, but you don't get them at all, when starting the game as admin from the folder. I never understood why someone would need them anyway, other than bragging about them to school buddies.

I never ran into that Cumd guy before. Now that I found him, I still had to threaten him into selling stuff although I did the smith quest and got rid of the bandits. Somehow I didn't get the magic password in the process.

You can't compare this game to the bunch of the game industry. It was made with a relatively low budget compared to so called AAA titles, that are still bugfests in their vast majority when they hit the market. If I buy a game at release, I expect it to be bugged. And not only since yesterday but at least for a decade. This isn't a new phenomenon and for me the more important issue at hand is how any given company deals with the bugs in their product. And that's where Obsidian is way more consumer friendly than most other game companies. Probably because they don't have an empty suit for a CEO, who's only responsibility is to the shareholders and his own end of the year bonus for making a dime by selling the proverbial on a silver platter.

I think you're comparing two different issues here. One is the ongoing consolization of games, aimed at a different and usually much younger target audience. That's where the hype and the shiny, shiny, shiny aspect comes in. In these cases, PC ports are the problem. They're done as an afterthought and to rake in as many PC players as possible without them being the originally intended audience. The second issue are real bugs. And that, as you observed in a previous post, has much to do with advancing technologies. We've come a long way since the original IE games or gaming in general. It was much easier to design relatively bugfree games one or two decades ago, since there weren't quite as many parameters to work with.

Oh, you mean we shouldn't ever critique anything? You do realize that is the logical conclusion here, as the same ludicrous non-answer applies to anything and everything: "Why the hell does my car's engine get set on fire every time I change gears, that's ****ing retarded." "Obviously the engineers disagree." "Oh, nevermind then!" There are more than enough GungHo hack and slash games on the market that don't waste your precious time on something as useless as exploring. They usually even give you big shiny quest markers, so you don't miss out on secrets. Pitiful strawman. Yes, because every single player always comments with their view on every single thread on every forum, so if only one guy says something somewhere then no one else on the planet can feel the same way. Oh I'm sure there are some. And as I said in my pitiful strawman:They're probably playing games that interest them and don't try to press for another instant gratification hack and slash fest for a game that isn't designed according to their wishes.

Sorry, the whole premise of not comparing POE to other titles is bugged - pun intended. In my time, I have played some serious garbage when it first came out. Back in the days of hardcopies I usually put them on ebay as soon as possible. I've also played things, for lack of a better word, that cannot be described on this board without using some choice words, the forum software would instantly censor. With Skirim, on release, I could celebrate the return of the bluescreen of death for the first time in a decade. And I wasn't the only one, as posts on different boards showed. Not by a long chalk. I've also played abysmal console ports, where the developers didn't feel the need to make them more playable on PC. POE is none of these. It has it's flaws, but my definition of unfinished is certainly different.

But let's be fair to both sides here. The game had and still has it's share of real bugs. And that is to be expected, since if we strip a video game from all it's artistic woo surrounding it, it's a complexe piece of software designed to run on a multitude of differrent system configuration. It can't be expected that they tested it on every possible hardare configuration out there. On the positive, they're really eager and quick to adress and iron out the flaws. And that's an attitude seldomly found in todays business world. I'm more than willing to go with that.

PoE - Sales figures STEAM

I will never understand why people think people that play on consoles are a "different type" of person. It's just another platform to play games. The games catering to consoles are aimed at a different audience. They're usually more action based and they offer limited options due to controller restrictions. There are only so many buttons you can push and that in itself puts restrictions on the UI, customization and gameplay in general. So yes, in general it is a different audience with different expectations. -

There's always the Skaen bloodpool right around the corner. Sadly it only works with scripted companions not with your average mercenary. -

No need for me to save face. My opinion hasn't changed. I resent the turning to console Larian is doing and I resent games being consolized for the reasons I mentioned. If you have no problem with action based hack and slash with limited options, you're entitled to your opinion just the same as I am to mine. I'm perfectly aware that Larian is handing out the so called enhanced version for free, if you already own the game. That proves that at least there are still decent human beings at work. But it doesn't change my opinion that they are taking the first exit to mainstream once their kickstarter was successful. -
Annoyed by the end of Act 2

Btw, did anyone take part in the riots? Just because I hated to see the sanitarium burned down, I wiped out the group attacking it. Didn't change anything of course, but it was a personal satisfaction. -

Well, I would've done, but you don't get the option if you send the Valtas girl first Aldwin seemed quite upset with himself that he couldn't resist eating her (First playthrough I saved them all - this time, my PC is a bit cruel ) Obviously it doesn't work at all, if you already cleared Heritage Hill. I went back there to look up the prisoners, but there was no option to send them to Aldwin. -
How to dispel domination?
abaris replied to grubolsch's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
A workaround is to counter charm charmed allies. It works, but you still can't control them, they only aren't hostile anymore. And what I don't get, if charm attacks will, how high does your will have to be to not be charmed? My characters are well over 70 with their will defense and in certain encounters I'm lucky if Aloth squeezes even one spell out before being instacharmed for 20 to 30 seconds. I always produce paralyze scrolls by the numbers, since that's the only thing actually working most of the times. If you catch them unawares that is, since the real bothersome charmers cast instantly.
