New Companion AI Settings
abaris replied to ildafkam's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I find the AI settings useful in general, but I'm still experimenting with them. Per rest enabled for spellcasters doesn't seem to be a good approach, since the AI powers itself out and sometimes casts a spell when the fight is already done. -
Problem FPS since patch 2.0
abaris replied to lyrae's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
For me, it gets virtually unplayable once entering Stalwart. It's hardly more than a slide show. I wonder if anyone else is observing this at this particular location. -
It seems to have made things harder. I'm, OK with that, since it's a challenge. So far my party has been wiped out by a band of wolves and forrest lurkers. On normal. Before 2.0 this didn't even happen to me on hard. The enemy AI is better and it seems to me that the enemies are tougher also. I never was a number cruncher and so never looked at the stats. If an attack didn't work, I simply used another tack instead of looking at the numbers. I'm also still fiiddling with the companion AI to see what does what and how they really behave, once combat has started.

Problem FPS since patch 2.0
abaris replied to lyrae's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Yeah, I kept wondering. Didn't play the game for a while and moved to a stronger computer in between. But especially when the camera pans, it's dropping frames. Glad, they are aware of that. -
It's a totally different game, as far as mechanics are concerned. I just had an encounter with two forrest lurkers and what was once a cakewalk on hard, was now the doom of my party on normal. At least on that level. Also, I noticed, there are much more class abilities to choose from when levelling.

The new companions - locations?
abaris replied to abaris's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
And here I was hoping, you could get her early on, since you need someone with a decent mechanics skill in your party at the lower levels. -
Update 100: The White March - Part I
abaris replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
No. The game should be 2.00.760. If you are seeing that build it is in an incorrect state. Are you back on the default branch? What I mean is, have you removed the beta branch and gone back to "none"? Yeah, thanks. It now downloads some 4GBs of data. Instead of the 2 it originally downloaded.- 88 replies

Ah, yes. I forgot that bit although I kind of had the same problem a couple of months ago. Thanks for the reminder.- 88 replies

Update 100: The White March - Part I
abaris replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
Just a quick question because I made an odd observation: Is the game supposed to be 1.0.5.0582 PX1 Steam? I'm a bit confused, since I was on 2.0 beta before.- 88 replies

POE Modding sites.....
abaris replied to qwert_44643's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I can like a game and be appreciative of it's vanilla state, but still love the mods for adding longevity. One doesn't rule out the other. Personally I would love to see mods for Pillars, but I'm perfectly aware there is no toolset to get started. It the same with D:OS and personally I find that a shame, since both games were the lights at the end of the tunnel of mediocricy for me and I would have loved to see the modding community taking it from there. -
POE Modding sites.....
abaris replied to qwert_44643's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
But all the Bethesda games came with the tools to do so and the implicit intent of the developers that modders take over. Otherwise they wouldn't have created the toolsets to go ahead and made them available to the general public. -
Tips for final fight in Raedric's hold
abaris replied to Zakaste's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Sometimes I do too, but only after I took his whole garrison down and picked his castle thoroughly clean. -
Paralysis scrolls, Cyphers casting paralysis and spell casters blasting away with AOEs. Nothing can top that and using that kind of method I didn't find the fight to be that hard. Actually I found the fight outside the cave more challenging, since there's a small army of Ogre druids which is very hard to control with their plagues.
-
That's my standard equipment for difficult encounters. But as I said in another thread, paralysis seems to be bugged under certain circumstances, since some chars start to move and blast away long before their affliction counter reaches zero. And to top it off, in that state, they're immune to another paralysis hit. Nether from scrolls nor from Cyphers.

Stuck in corner of walls
abaris replied to oktakon's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
I had this quite a few time before the last patches. Anyway, save and reload often times solves the issue. -
paralization - this is getting annoying
abaris replied to abaris's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Nope, only vessels. And in the case of trolls, other trolls. -
Not really a spoiler topic, but my last example is kind of a giveaway. I have it repeatedly that paralized foes just get moving and casting while the clock still says, they're out for another few seconds. The last time I had it was on level 8 of the endless paths with a fampyr that supposedly was out for 12 seconds. Yet still he suddenly gets moving again and sure enough speed charms Aloth. I also had it with other enemies, some trolls and the likes. So is this a bug or am I the only one having that problem?
