  1. We went out for my wife's final official birthday party First stop was a tapas place downtown. The food was great and so were the drinks, maybe a little too great since we ended our time there after one of our friends started dancing on the table and nearly tipped it all the way over. Next stop was a lounge with live music a couple blocks away. They are mostly a wine bar but have some decent mixed drinks and the music was really good, however, they had some weird acid trip cartoon the band was projecting on the wall behind them. No matter how much I tried I couldn't look away. Last stop was a night club across the street and I'll let you in on a little secret about me, I hate night clubs. I was mostly standing around and drinking and running interference while the ladies were dancing around me. Not a bad show but the hate directed towards me was palpable and I couldn't wait to leave because I'm too old to be fighting in clubs
  2. So when I flew to Chicago earlier this week it was awesome because I was able to leave everything on and all my electronics in my bags. The flight back, not so much.
  3. Not to make excuses for the Iraq war but the majority of Iraqis that I've met were in support of the US toppling Saddam(to my face at least). As opposed to the insurgents I met who none of which where even Iraqi Of course that's just my personal experience and off topic

  13. Went out for Italian again because it's my wife's birthday weekend and that's her favorite I had seared hamachi with a fried risotto cake and some kind of weird and delicious mix of butternut squash, strawberries, pancetta, and garlic. It was their daily special so I can't double check from the menu My wife had Spaghetti Arrabbiata - Tomato spaghetti tossed with spicy tomato sauce, cooked with applewood smoked bacon, chipotle peppers, olive oil & garlic finished with crispy pancetta The best part for me was the pork belly appetizer - braised pork belly, chipotle maple glaze, sautéed figs, baby arugula & crispy bread

  21. This is how I've been feeling about io9 lately. It would be nice to read some Doctor Who news without being told the next Doctor should be a woman or PoC and if you disagree you are what's wrong with society. But Idris Elba should be both the Doctor and James Bond
