  1. No, but i would feel better if Paladins had better base deflection than druids or ciphers. I would feel better if this statement of Josh: "Characters like fighters and paladins have great base Deflection" have remained true. I would feel better if they instead improved Fighter's deflection by adding some points to (Wary) Defender, so someone might actually pick it.
  2. I do have a problem when choosing ranger talents. But not because there's nothing to my taste, quite the contrary - there's too much stuff i'd like to have. But again, i'm a boring passive player. People who want many active abilities may not find much appeal in Ranger class.
  3. Scroll of Paralysis duration going down? Isn't it, like, 6 seconds already?
  4. Full VA? I'd rather see all those dollars spent elsewhere.
  5. It's a little complicated. First tick happens immediately on applying DoT effect. Last tick happens exactly when DoT expires. If DoT has duration of 15 seconds ticks will happen 0s, 3s, 6s, 9s, 12s, 15s after applying DoT debuff. Then number of ticks is calculated like this: (duration + 3s) / 3s It gets complicated if duration is not divisible by 3 but average player should not bother with this. Things change very little and game does the right thing here, trust me In my copy Infestation of Maggots' description is "10 damage by percentage of endurance lost". So if target is missing 50% endurance damage is 10 * 50 = 500. 500 damage over 20 seconds. That's A LOT of damage and DPS as well. I'm probably getting it wrong (:
  6. There's nice synergy between druids and rangers: If bad dudes charm ranger's animal companion druid can charm it back with 1st level Charm Animal spell. Ranger has talent giving his companion extra damage vs DoTed enemies, druid has some good DoT spells : Insect Plague, Autumn's Decay, Plague of Insects (there's also Infestation of Maggots that deals crap dmg but has resonable duration). Ranger (as well as Cipher and Chanter) can use soulbound bow that reduce shock DR on hit, druid has strong shock spells and Wildstrike: Shock.
  7. From 1st level priest spells i like Meditation one. Big concentration bonus allows your casters to casts those Slickens/Chill Fogs/Repulsing Seals without interruptions. On lvl 2 there's Holy Power. Not as good for concentration as meditation but also increases your deflection and might.
  8. It was possible https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ewxtIFixUb8 and most likely still is.
  9. Those of us who played after 2.0 and faced enemy fighters know than Unbending is very strong and can heal MORE damage than fighter is taking. I used it at half Endurance and it kept me there for it's entire duration. And my fighter was taking quite a beating so Constant Recovery had very little impact.
  10. Not counting the 'do nothing' and 'troll' options there is only one option in this poll. And it has no chance to be implemented. Why? Because it supports rest spam - something OEI wants to avoid. Also stacking stronghold bonus with bonuses from some better inns could be OP. What i'd like to see is stacking 2 bonuses (more would likely be too much) from those you already unlocked. It's not too much because some existing inns already can give you +6 to attributes.
  11. Such talent would be taken as often as Field Triage or Wound Binding. Or even less often as HP healing has a chance to be useful in combat (it's possible to loose all Health in a single fight if you heal enough). Per-encounter spells have no effect on fights that matter. I don't know how many people take Field Triage or Wound Binding, but i never do. And i rarely rest on PotD.
  12. True, however 'over time' effect tick every 3 seconds (unless stated otherwise). I this case heal will tick for 21 HP every 3 seconds. Last tick will heal for 14 because it has only 2 seconds duration. As for DR, it is substracted once from total incoming damage and result is split into ticks, for example: 100 damage over 15 seconds vs 10 DR. 100 - 10 = 90 90 / 6 = 15 ( 6 is a number of ticks ) Spell will tick 6 times for 15 damage. DoT spells should not be confused with periodical damage, such as Ectopsychic Echo, that are reduced by DR every time they hit. I cast Maggots on targets with less than half HP. It did abysmal damage. It's either bugged or the most UP spell in the game.
  13. Best order for a tank is Shieldbearers of St. Elcga as they have only order specific tanky talent: Shielding Touch. All other order talents are for support/damage/healing. Poor choices would be Bleak Walkers and Kind Wayfarers as their talents require you to kill opponents, which is something tanks suck at.
  14. My favourite trick is going to treasure corridor and killing all xaurips but archers. They can't harm you but can block dragon quite nicely.
  15. Version 2.02 21 DEX, short bow, normal clothing: 22 APM 21 DEX, short bow, durgan clothing: 22 APM Conclusion: Durgan steel can't reduce recovery penalty below 0%.

  17. :mindblown: I didn't know that. Oh how I hated waiting for it to wear off. Exactly. Mind control was a thing back then. Now it's just an annoyance that wears off quickly. Characters using reloading weapons may not even have a chance to perform single attack when dominated. Once i charmed my dude back but he still had charmed status effect. He was allied to me but controlled by AI. Anyone knows if it's intended?
  18. Godlike is poor choice for melee cipher because there is certain helmet with retaliation. And, as we know, retaliation generates focus. There's also a retaliation cape but cipher will equip no-brainer amulet in his neck slot. And there's a retaliation shield that stacks with everything else.
  19. That was quite a fight. If not for my high levels i'd have to repeat it.
  20. You can get Ring of Protection +1 in Beregost. In PoE it would give +5 deflection, +5 fort, +5 will, +5 reflex. +5 deflection is about as valuable as +5 to other stats. So it's PoE equivalent would give +10 to refl/will/fort. And that's pretty close to Spellward Amulet
  21. Don't min-max then. Attributes have low impact on the game, as you have noticed. Must max stats are something this game wants to avoid. Not a bad idea. Intelligence, in practice, gives just range. Extra duration is there merely to counter short durations of spells/abilities.
  22. I placed 6 Killing Bolt traps under his nose for 'free' 450 damage. Not an instant kill, but it helped a bit.
  23. With an addition of modding subforums, which is great, shouldn't something be done about scope of this subforum: https://forums.obsidian.net/forum/91-pillars-of-eternity-characters-builds-strategies-the-unity-engine-spoiler-warning/ ?
  24. One more thing - Endurance is more synergistic. DR is more valuable if enemies graze instead of hit as it allows you to absorb higher % of incoming damage. While Focus, by increasing ACC, decreases your chance to graze, making it's secondary effect less potent.
