There is also a generic buckler with exactly the same ability but available to all classes ( I got it somwhere in Endless Paths). Furthermore those two stack so with a paladin(tank) and a chanter(tank) it was quite a nice duo. EDIT: just checked the name of buckler: "Little Savior", You must be trolling "somewhere in the endless paths". After you beat the adra dragon you already beat the toughest enemy in the game, what does it matter what item he drops? The outworn buckler can be bought in GILDED VALE.

In terms of DPS a 2H fighter will definitely lose to a DW rogue but the fighter will require much less microI believe in terms of damage output a 2H fighter should be comparable to a 2H pally. My pally highest crit was 76 so the DPS is actually quite decent. Fighter can definitely do more damage than pally. That being said my pally did 150, animancer boots be praised. ;p Jolting touch eh...heh

Your stats do not look ideal to begin with. High Res and Per are a must, no need to max, but I wouldn't go below 16. As to weapon and armor I always go living lands on paladin, you get a mace which is really good and a free brigandine. Whether you can kill the caravan and the bandits afterwards is another question though, as you can't rest in between. Oh and don't use a shield on a level 1 pala, destroys its accurracy, thats why you need higher per and res.

Against relatively weak enemies from Act 1 they hit like a truck. With my first solo monk I was too stupid too realize sabres hurt trolls a lot, attacked them with the healing flail and couldn't kill them (not the ones in Act 1, the ones in Def Bay sewers), then I sicced wood beetles on them and they died like flies. :D
